  • Here is many of the details I cover when teaching the poker shuffle. The only detail that I failed to mention when I filmed this was to keep your palms on the table. It is a little long but I hope you find it interesting. As always, enjoy!

I went to a poker dealer school years ago - There I was taught basically the same thing - but in this video instruction, teacher Jeremy Neuman has an added level of specificity and élan - elegant, poised, sophisticated. I would expect to see this shuffle in an ultra high roller room - or at a televised table at the WSOP. THIS IS SHUFFLE PERFECTION. Thank you for sharing this!

OMG thank you for explaining this so detailed and well I have been in dealer school for two weeks now and I for some reason don't understand how everyone can shuffle under 3 minutes. It's because I didn't know about these advanced shuffle methods. Thank you professor and happy dealing.

I appreciate the compliment VitaiSlade. Yes, I agree that a softer shuffle is much more pleasant for both employees and the customers. I used to even teach that specifically. (I told prospective dealers to deal as if they were allergic to noise.) That being said, I ran into a really stiff deck of cards about a year ago that were impossible to shuffle quietly, so I have backed off on the statement. However, whenever possible, people should shuffle quietly, so yes, you are very correct.

Are card decks of variable stiffness? One I found seems to take an industrial degree of force to bend.

Yes. I am in the process of securing a filming location to make some more videos. One of the areas I am going to talk about is different decks and how you will need to adjust certain techniques illustrated in my video for unusual decks. That said, if I start out a video with all the exceptions, then everyone just looks for exceptions instead of putting in the practice.

this is cool to learn. Normally I do some ghetto shuffle, I just flick them in half and shuffle them basically in mid air

I love the way this looks, great vid. Ive been trying on and off for a week now and i keep getting stuck on the part of bring the cards together after shuffling. After i shuffle, the cards won't go in after i push them because the tops push against each other preventing the joining. Any tis?

Send me a video of you shuffling and I will let you know what you might be doing wrong. Sorry for the delayed reply, I rarely check my old email which is the one tied onto this TH-cam account.

I don't bother with all that; I just put the cards in the spin dryer!

I absolutely cringe when I see a hand riffle followed by the the hand riffle shuffle and again followed by the nonsense insane totally worthless useless bridge (non)shuffle. That's right, let's just bend a perfectly good deck of cards three times nearly in half before you have to either gather them back up from the table or stoop over to the floor to grab your cards.
