Wow, I really love this one. I wish I could see it in person! What a joy to watch this video! One of my all-time favorites are the grasses. I love the movement that gives dynamic. It's beautiful how you give direction with some of the stems to move the eye through the arrangement. After watching your videos, I look at grasses and wild flowers/weeds in a different way and appreciate them more. I've never seen the smoke bush, pretty. Separating the foliage in some spots gave nice contrast. When you turned the arrangement on the lazy susan, the September flowers looked like some sort of sweet, white-winged insects/creatures flying around. The allium seed heads are one of my favorites, too. The sweet William peeking out from under the hosta leaf is lovely. Thank you for your videos. :-)
Thank you so much 😊 I have taken a cutting of the smoke bush so I’m hoping it takes as it would be nice to have in the garden. There is one, but it got stood on and squashed - but it’s still alive, so we shall see! 😀
I don't usually work with a kenzan as never sure what floral materials I can use with them. This video has shown me that you can basically use anything you want to. Thank you for giving me the inspiration to have a go.
@@susanpowell8966 it’s true - pretty much anything is good - very thing grasses can be a too thin, but just bunch them or add a hollow stem to make it wider. 😀
Your shirt is quite beautiful (nicely coordinated with the arrangement!! I've never considered you as part of the arrangement, but maybe you've invented something?! The smoke bush branches are such a nice choice. Sweet Williams too. I love the colours and the textures. It has a wild look that is also delicate. Love this John!
I LOVE this design: It calls me out by name! (Immediate subscriber!) I was thinking since it would be hard to find these delicate flowers, foliage, and grasses in stores, if you have a yard, be sure to grow these somewhere on your property so you have them to use in your arrangements! The only thing missing in this video is the names of ALL the plants used so we could grow our own. I learned a lot today; will watch again and again. Thank you so much: This video made my day! ❤
Thank you so much 😊 I will try and name things as I go in future videos - we list the contents in the video descriptions as well. Your feedback has made our day 🌼😊 thank you!
This is beautiful. I put in 2 smoke trees about 3 years ago and I just love them. Alot of people haven't even heard of them. It's been so hot and dry here that it has been hard keeping up with the watering. Enjoyed the video very much. ❤️🫶❤️ North Carolina 🇺🇸

Hello! Thank you! We have the same problem here now, it has turned up the heat and dryness - not so good for flowers and as you say, a lot more watering. Best wishes to you in North Carolina 😀 I love how we can all connect across the world through flowers
This is lovely! I have been watching a few of your videos and was wondering if you can inspire me and get me some advice please? I am making two medium arrangements for my church tomorrow (sorry about the short notice) 1. A commissioned, medium traditional ‘inspired by fields of wild flowers’ 2 commissioned, medium free form - Free form? ‘Inspired by the lives of mum & dad I have had a brain injury so I need to make them as simple and straight forward but special because they are for our local flower festival. Can you help me with advice and tips what to do? I have used oasis foam in the past Gemma x
Hi Gemma! How exciting, but you are right about the time! You ,use of organised your flowers and have a rough idea of the two designs I think. My best advice is to be very clear with what you want to portray - so maybe for the fields design everything is inserted vertically and naturalistically. So it really has a fiend vibe, with a light airy feel. With the second then you maybe want to show two elements / sections, that are connected maybe? So keep it simple - don’t add extra ideas and elements that take away from the obvious main idea. For foam free, then you need a container that has a little depth to hold a good reservoir of water, and chicken wire makes a good mechanic to hold the flowers - ideally wedge it into the container, or tape it in - you don’t want it rocking about! The other main thing - just enjoy making them! That really shines through as well 😀🌼🌼🌼
@@FlowerJoos thank you for you quick response, sorry i meant Free form style for the 2nd? 1st arrangement - vertical arrangement 2nd arrangement - Would you have any photo or video examples? thanks Gemma😃
@@brodyfromtheblock7 hi Gemma. With a freestyle design you can do anything! So don’t be traditional, steer away from symmetrical triangles - just be creative and have fun. It’s hard to suggest videos or images ( and I can’t post images her as a reply sadly ) because I do t know what you have material wise. If you have chosen two main colours then an idea would be to split these and create a design that has the two side by side ( representing two ) rather than mixing them? If you pop onto Pinterest then there is lots of inspiration there as well. So for this I would ask - what does mum and dad represent to me? How best can I show that ( two elements, or two colours, or things showing lots of connections, or a cooking / gardening theme perhaps ). You can add in props as well that are theme approriate. Now - just as an idea - how about gloves filled with flowers? So cooking mits and gardening gloves maybe? That could be fun! But honestly, just see what you have, make a descision that shows the strongest way to portray what you think reprints the title, and then go for it, but don’t cloud that plan!

This is so beautiful. I like how you grouped all the pins in one corner. I like doing that and adding rocks on the opposite corner like you do.
Thank you 😊 the pinholders make a great base for the flowers and using two or three is not a problem - it gives you more options
