  • In this video we demonstrate what we do when we get to a PCB or breadboard guitar pedal project that uses trimmer potentiometers aka trim pots.

I’m new to the whole electronics thing.. I’m a hi voltage line foreman who loves guitar effects.. I’m hooked beyond return.. thanks for guidance ..

    Really appreciate this!
Also, I chuckled at "earballing it"

I wonder if we can use a Trimmer Pot to convert a Linear pot to a Logarithmic pot?

how can i solder the trimmer on point to point circle? which leg to where?

can you please tell us how to wire 50k trimmer pots instead of normal pots ? as they have there connections also ?

Thanks for this video. Well explained as always. I am confused on one point though. The Rangemaster spec says 2 volts, not 7. So are we actually measuring the voltage DROP? Thanks again. EDIT: I just noticed that voltages are inverted, is that the reason?

Yep, inverted for the PNP to NPN conversion

I just realized my 1981 EHX Small Clone has a trim pot. I opened it up to check it out and see what it looked like. I’ve been searching online or on youtube and it looks like this feature is only to bias the pedal and really shouldn’t be touched if not needed so I guess I’ll leave it alone.

I have a quick question. Just built a delay/modulation pedal, a clone of the EQD Space Spiral, and the repeat volume is super low, you can hear repeat and wobble when I turn the pots but the volume is so low it’s almost impossible to hear. What could be the problem? The initial volume of my guitar is normal, it’s just the repeats.

I'm looking at the Dark Rift Delay schematic as a reference, but leaving pin 7 of the PT2399 is where the output of the delay signal starts. I'd use an audio probe and follow that out from Pin 7, then go to the other side of the 1uF capacitor connected to pin 7, then the 1K resistor after that, then to the 10nF cap after that, getting to your repeats potentiometer. Somewhere in there is either a bad solder joint, a bad component, or a short.

@@erikvincent5846 I’ll check all of that out today and let you know the outcome. Thank you!
