I’ve lived in threes of these cities (Honolulu, Tacoma and Spokane). I never felt in any danger in Honolulu but the crime in Spokane shocked me.
I live in Spokane right now and that crime rate completely shocked me. Because I thought the amount of crime was normal, because I lived here all my life.
Anecdotally heard that crime comes in cycles in Honolulu. We’re supposed in the cycle of when crime is worse. Lots of violent crime lately - public domestic abuse cases (shooting, throwing acid, etc). Lately there’s been waves of fentanyl-related events too. Really sad to hear.
Yeah I feel that on the crime in Spokane. It is weird when you tell people you’re from Spokane and 1. They’ve heard of it and 2. People from bigger places know about the crime
Liberal people lack of values 😮😢
That’s why we called it spocane
Eugene resident here. It was a decent place when I moved here in 2018. In 2020 it really went down the drain though. Homelessness, drugs, crime, and a rising cost of living ruined it. I drove around town yesterday, saw tents and garbage everywhere, and thought "this city looks like shit right now" 🤦
I live in Tacoma, WA... I have for 50 years. there are areas that are bad - the Hosmer area is the worst- there are also areas that aren't quite as bad. Or maybe I'm just numb to it...
I live in Vegas. Dont move here unless you have a job lined up or a transfer. They post that there are jobs, but good luck getting hired. We moved here 6 mos ago and still haven't been hired anywhere. Thank god at least for my husbands pension! Nick Johnson rocks! Love his channel too!
Very true, I am moving back to Vegas after 2 years away. Moved away due to job-position, finally accepted an offer for my dream job and will be back in April.
@@bigslick1125 congrats! Welcome back! 👽👽
And even if you do have a good job there you gotta stay out of the casinos to stay afloat!
Stunned that Bakersfield didn’t make the list.
Bakersfield was #11.
I live in Eugene. You're right this used to be a great city. We call west Eugene felony flats.
I love when people go to Fresno and hang out in fig gardens and say wow it’s really nice here.
Hey man, fig garden is kinda nice
@14:57 *San BERDOO* (most dont enunciate the second 'r' = Bernadino)
First heard that pronunciation from Chevy Chase in the film "Fletch" 1985. Funny film!
The Dino, have you heard of wood crest in San Bernardino?
Many people are moving out of Anchorage to the Mat Su Valley because land and taxes are less expensive. The Mat Su has grown by over 6,000 people in the last few years.
Picking on me today Briggs. All the cities in Cali Ihave been through multiple times or lived next to and grew up there. I can confirm, Oakland, SF, San Jose, Fresno, Stockton,Bakersfield, Modesto are all places I avoid now. IDK how Imade it out in one piece after 50 years, maybe I didn't cause I have some mild pstd and anxiety for sure. Listen to abriggs on this one folks.
I nominate Vallejo, California for this list
I second your vote
Can’t be worse than Oakland
@@MrCamel2humpsOakland is worse imo, but frankly the entire bay area is pretty crappy in 2024
Excellent choice. Oakland and Richmond are bad places too.
Vallejo was OK when mare island naval shipyard was still open. Loosing all the government jobs nearly turned it into a ghost town. They have tried to repurpose some areas but pollution and asbestos concerns make many areas off limits. The city's municipal bankruptcy didn't help either.
I'm from Stockton. I had to look up the Kennedy neighborhood. It's the area that I would have called Sierra Vista. Maybe they changed the name. It was the ghetto. I went to college at SDSU and ended up working and retiring in the Silicon Valley. I've been back to Stockton to visit friends once in a while. My parents stayed in their home. Stockton was a divided city politically and economically.
I grew up in Stockton as well. It was once a great place to grow up, but not anymore. I am 60 years old now, living in my Quail Lakes home of many years. When leaving my little neighborhood community, I enter a town that I no longer recognize. Stockton has suffered a tragic fate.
I got my BA from SDSU! Loved San Diego back in the day!
@@michellejoy6752Stockton has never been a good city. There is nothing to do, the crime is in your face, and the people are unpleasant to put it nicely. It's a city you drive by and hope you never have to stop by again
But, they do have Smitty's Wings & Things.
I moved to Vegas from the east coast and really like it. In Florida and NY where I lived, everyone talked about how they did not like it. In Vegas, everyone I know talks about how amazing it is. It’s very underrated- lots of outdoors like Colorado without the crowds. The weather is great 50s, 60s, and 70s year round October - April. It is hot June-August, but dry heat and much better than Florida. Of course it matters which part of town you live in. Because the strip distracts everyone away from all the nature, it is one of the few places you can still get 5-star views without crowds. You have almost everything you want within a 5 minute drive. Great dining. No traffic like other places. The city is growing faster than you can think, so will be interesting to see how the stats change!
Vegas is cool I just wish there was better public transportation and less car dependent. They could use a good rail system or something
@@jaykay1899 yeah they need a decent commuter rail, like a long island railroad or something.
I have been to Vegas twice and I agree. Very underrated for the outdoors. Weather was perfect both times (spring).
Briggs, you rock! Love the channel and content. Peace ✌️
these videos always make me laugh, great sense of humor included in them (the worst place to live in Tacoma is Tacoma). Was surprised to see Honolulu on this list. I know there is crime, but I always felt fairly safe in Waikiki, but haven't been there in a dozen years, so maybe things have changed.
Born and raised in Stockton. Graduated from the University of the Pacific, beautiful campus in Stockton. I taught in Stockton Unified School District for over 32 years. We have our problems like any city. We also have a wonderful museum, the symphony, live theatre, waterways that take you to the Pacific Ocean. A great university and community college. We are one of the most diverse cities in the U.S. I’ve traveled to far worse places around the United States and the world.
Briggs the reason why home prices are still rising in these cities is the housing shortage!
What’s causing the housing shortage is people that have homes with interest rates 4 percent or below are not selling their homes even if they relocate with their job they’re just renting them out cause interest rates are too high!
That’s what is causing the housing shortage!
Well adding Five million illegals in 3 yrs hasn’t helped housing availability much nor will it going forward with even more on the way.
Most of the suburbs of Spokane are safe with great schools, but downtown has gotten downright scary with homelessness and rampant drug use. The Hillyard neighborhood used to be the worst and may still be the poorest zip code in the U.S. but it's not as scary as downtown.
My aunt moved to Honolulu back in the late 70's. She always held down a job & managed to support herself until the mid 2000's. Her last job was working as a live-in caregiver for an elderly man for about 10+ years. When he passed away, his son saw how much home prices were skyrocketing so instead of renting out the house (& allowing my aunt to stay in her rented room as she was promised by his dad), he kicked her out & sold the place for a ridiculous amount. He didn't give her any sort of severance pay, bonus, or just a small monetary gift to say thanks for taking care of his dad (which he refused to do himself). So at the age of 65, she ended up homeless. We tried to intervene by sending her money & have her move into my parents' place in Monterey, CA but she refused to leave "her home". She cut all contact, lasted about 5 years longer, & died after being physically assaulted by another homeless person in January 2018. The police suspected that it was a robbery & she put up a fight to defend the few possessions she carried around in a suitcase. We didn't find out until months later, after she had already been cremated... It still upsets me to know that she lived there her entire adult life, worked, paid taxes, & ended up dying on the streets instead of in her own house or even a rented apartment.
I'm so sorry to hear how your aunt passed. I grew up on the islands in the 1970s and 1980s and remember how it was. My plan was to retire there, but it's not the same anymore. The only thing I really miss is local food. Otherwise, Hawaii is paradise lost to me.
I'm so sorry.
I'm so sorry for the horrible story that your aunt had to live out. Such a sad ending. Having been to Hawaii many times I can see wanting to live out your senior years there, but not as a homeless person. That population has increased dramatically in recent years, as it has in many/most cities, and the profile of the homeless community there has shifted.
We lived in Honolulu for over nine years. Technically, the entire island of Oahu is a consolidated city and county of Honolulu. When new people were moving there, we always told them not to live anywhere that starts with a “W” - includes Waikiki, Waipahu, Wahiawa, Waimanalo, Waianae, Waipio, and so on.
I lasted one month in Honolulu. Luckily, I only shipped one pallet of my stuff. Crime shocked me. Waikiki was walkable, but it cost $400-$500 a month to park my car a mile from my apartment.
Or an M
i live in wahiawa.... and for the most part you are correct. my home just appraised at 1.6 million though so i live in one of the nicer areas which are the older ones with families that still largely hold to traditional values. no gang bangers or homeless here!
my mother and most of my family on her side were born on Oahu. The islands have changed over the years. Too many people living there and many dont honor the hawaiian ways.
Always love Honolulu don’t know what your talking about, it’s well with it especially if you like surfing 🏄♂️
I had my windows on my truck only smashed out twice last year in Denver, and there is a bum on every street corner.
I live in the Denver metro. I refuse to drive to my buddy's place in Lodo area. His car gets broken into (in a parking garage that he has to pay for) almost monthly. The homeless problem is astronomical and I've noticed a lot more violent crime just in the past 2 years. I felt safer in Tampa and that's really saying something.
Only 5 points and Lodo...Arvada fairly different
The democrat's promise" A chicken in your pot and a bum on every corner" !!!!
Spent a couple of weeks in Yuma years ago. It was summer and I must declare that Yuma is not a city, at least not in summer. There was just about nobody there.
Not now
A friend from here in Canada drive his RV there for the winter. He thinks it will be amazing...he asked if I wanted to go to Yuma for 6 months, no thanks!
I'm a lifelong resident of Stockton (65 years ). I did move away for 2 years but came back for family reasons. Unfortunately, you are absolutely correct about my hometown. Stockton used to be a nice place, but not anymore. Seriously considering leaving again and never moving back.
I've been living in Las Vegas for 2 years now. It's so bad here I plan on staying :)
Re Eugene: You pretty much nailed it. What you did not convey is that the city, and many of its citizens, actively promote homelessness. We have one of the highest per capita homeless rates in the nation.
There are reasons so many cops episodes are filmed in Spokane. Born and raised there, so glad to get out.
Live pd pulled folks over in the parking lot of the business I worked at more than once 😂
Feels all that much worse when your watching an episode of LivePD and you actually know a couple of people on there. Also it got so bad that the city tried banning LivePD from filming here saying it was giving a bad representation of Spokane. No... That would Spokane. Moving as soon as i finish up settling my affairs and getting my office ready to move. Letting all my staff keep their jobs and work remotely, but have advising all of them to go with me. I'm a younger guy so it is easier for me but still nobody should stay here if they have the option
I kind of thought that Bakersfield was going to make the list... Like Fresno Bakersfield is where people live who want to live in California but can't afford to live in California. I've lived in Bakersfield all my life and I hate it here, lol.
There's nothing wrong with living in Fresno. Maybe Bakersfield is shit, but Fresno isn't. The major issue Fresno has is the lack of housing for homeless and mentally ill people. Every large city needs residential care facilities for homeless and mentally ill people.
Bako ain't so bad nowadays, bettering i'd say
@@fuzzytigercatCentral Valley is on the up! I moved here in 2016, I really don’t mind it
Greetings from the PPRC GREAT VIDEO TODAY. Thanks.🇺🇸🍺🍺

I live in vegas and today it’s a beautiful sunny 60 degrees with not a chance of a tornado, hurricane, mudslide, blizzard or any natural disasters. 😘
I’ll be in my pool during the hot months. No humidity and mosquitoes is pretty sweet too.
When people rate a city, you have to understand that it’s based on multiple factors and not just weather. Those are sweet things, though. Tornadoes in Vegas and surrounding state are very rare so I know you won’t have to worry about those…..
@@rayb.6537 I’ve lived here my whole life. Just don’t drive in it and you’re good.

Live here too and love it! Love the nature. Mt. Charleston on the weekends in the summer to cool off. Having come from Florida where the heat truly is year-round, there was no such luxury to escape the heat like there is here. Seems like everything I need and want is in arms reach. Only complaint is the crime that requires more vigilance than where I live before, but I don’t think it outweighs the benefits when you learn to be more vigilant
Sounds like a win to me. I loved both times I visited Las Vegas and the surrounding areas. Mount Charleston is awesome.
Love your videos bro
I lived in the Shadle / Hillyard neighborhoods in Spokane growing up. I now live in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma. This data definitely makes sense now! In the past year we’ve had a house burn down, two people shot, and a police standoff in the past year on just my Hilltop block.
Dude also grew up in Hillyard. It was not pretty, but it never really felt unsafe at least to me. Just run down. Ive since moved north near the Y and once i finish the process of getting my office ready i'm moving away. As a kid Spokane always felt run down but never crazy or unsafe. No longer. I do not leave my home unless it is with friends and avoid most areas like the plague. Really does not help that i have indisputable evidence of corruption and absolute incompetence of the city government who are responsible to fix this. They do not want it fixed and i mean that literally. They were offered a golden goose of astronomical funding to start tackling some of this with no strings attached. They did not take it because one city administrator went to school with the guy who was running this program and they did not like each other. I'm out. Also Tacoma be whack also. I have to go out there once a month for work. Thankfully i stay across the water in Gig Harbor because Tacoma straight scares me
I am sorry to hear about Portland and Eugene!!
Tacoma is on the upswing as prosperous Seattle-ites are being pushed out.
… and Point Ruston is pretty amazing. Seriously underrated area.
Also, they shut down the paper mill so it doesn't smell dank anymore.
Tacoma is still trash
@@206remyboyz7 No. Some parts, yes. North end is pretty great. I guess it all depends on your financial situation. That can certainly skew your perception of a place.
@@genxtechguy I mean I live in Tukwila it's noth much better here in All of south King county but id rather my survival chances here than in Tacoma...
When I lived in Spokane, the worst neighborhoods were either parts of Hilliard and West Central area which was known as felony flats
Too many liberal people there 😢
Lol yep! Felony Flats. I haven't heard that in ages. I'm so glad I moved away right when I was old enough
Love the Diaz bros reference. Great video, as always 😊
My dad's family has a long history in Spokane (and Colville, but that is hardly a city). My grandfather inherited a rooming house near downtown from his sister that we nicked named the Empty Arms, lots of good memories about that. My sister currently lives in Spokane, and they get by well enough, but I'm always surprised food/restaurants cost as much as Seattle without Seattle salaries. The hill is pretty nice to live on, however, if you can afford it.
You're correct. Absolutly correct
I lived in Henderson in 2013-14...it was nice...safe.
Albuquerque nm
I lived in Spokane Valley growing up, brother is still there. I loved it! Wonderful for outdoor activities
Spokane Valley isn't Spokane. Two entirely different living conditions.
I’ve lived near a couple of the places. With respect to heat in San Bernardino, imagine adding at least 5-10 degrees from the temperature in Los Angeles. And yes, the smog is bad, although probably not as bad as it was in the 80’s and 90’s when “red flag” warnings were more common. A couple areas I would recommend avoiding in that area are Muscoy and Colton . For the Tacoma area and city itself, it’s not all bad, it has a lot of gems like Point Defiiance Park with Owen Beach, Point Ruston, and some good entertainment options like the Grand Cinema and Museum of Glass, and pretty wide variety of food options. There are some nicer areas (and yes, more expensive) like the Proctor District, DuPont, Steilacoom, and University Place, but I recommend to definitely stay away from Lakewood, WA.
As a nearly lifelong native Californian with family and friends all over the state, I could not agree more with these choices though I will admit I haven't been through Spokane in about six years. With friends in AZ, Yuma has only been good for two things in my experience: stopping for gas on the way to/from the Phoenix area or 1970-1993 when the Padres called it home for Spring Training games.
Eugene is beautiful (primarily lived here since the 70's). Just like Pdx (if you go to old town, yeah it's going to suck) there are a few crappy areas, but overall it's a safe city with access to the beach or the mountain hiking in an hour's drive. Lived in Pdx, too, back in the 90's/2000's (about a decade). Eugene has done a lot in dealing with homeless, you ought to have visited during the pandemic - it's in far better shape now.
Far better now? Apparently you don't drive around here quite enough? There are so many tents, garbage, and drugged out bums, and it's even more expensive now than a few years ago. I agree about the nature stuff, but this place is in awful shape
Regardless of any other problems, Vegas is *not* running out of water anytime soon. It's actually one of the most water-efficient cities in the US, and does not even use all of its' minuscule allotment of 1.8% of water from the Colorado River (most of which goes to SoCal and Arizona). Las Vegas has a water intake below the deadpool level at Lake Mead - i.e., if the water dropped so low it stopped flowing over the Hoover Dam, Vegas would still get water. SoCal residents and farmers lose water (and power) before Vegas does.
I was just thinking that. Not sure why he even thinks that.
Vegas is a horrible place to live.
Oh that’s because he’s full of shit. Like usually.
THIS!!!!! Vegas is not going to run out of water.
@@maryhobbs4183 I just came from there, it's actually very nice. There are some really nice places there.
As a proud Idahoan... if it's possible to be proud of being from Idaho... I chuckled when you said Spocompton (spokane) was on the Colorado border... I knew what you were doing. gotta try a lot harder than that.
@8:52 Spokane WA is right up against the Colorado Border.....uh......When did the 2 states move?
you should do best midwest cities
There no good places in the midwest
Stockton, Anchorage they always seem to come out in the gutter... and still either side of $400k for a house... and what's that house look like? Often that's a near tenement.
I’m surprised Salem Oregon didn’t make the list
We call Tacoma and Spokane Tacompton and Spokompton here in Washington, respectively

Nope
I'm surprised you forgot Tucson, Arizona.
Hey Briggs, you are doing a great job man with your channel, keep it coming.
Surprised you left out the traffic in Tacoma. Also wounder where Berkeley landed on this list.
I moved from Orange County to Fresno 17 years ago. Fresno has some bad areas, but a lot of it is really nice. I disagree with it being the worst.
I grew in San Bernardino my entire entire childhood until I moved to Perris when I was 14. When I was watching Nick Johnson's and I went there for meeting with a judge or to go the Pick-a-part on Waterman everywhere has gone worse. Nick Johnson has covered everywhere except for everything across the West of the 5th street highway bridge. So everything from Mt. Vernon Avenue where the MetroLink train station to Medical Center Drive is where the second hospital is, and Muscoy. It is all crap in San Bernardino, it is sad because I had good memories living there.
I lived in Eugene in the late 70’s. It was a great place then. The economy took a hit, serious inflation. The construction industry collapsed so the timber industry, which was big in Eugene/Springfield followed. The city though was really nice. Sorry to hear it’s fallen so far..
Sadly. The dream is over
I'm originally from Detroit... And now I live in Washington on the Seattle side and I wouldn't even buy in Tacoma I don't care how many houses are for sale.
I just knew Stockton would be on this list!!
Resident there from mid 80's to mid 90's. There are beautiful neighborhoods especially near UOP. A person walking their dog on the street behind me was shot dead in a drive by. The crime was everywhere but really bad downtown where I worked.
Oregon is for me.
Briggs, great as usual. Well-researched with a personal touch.
14:51 should have mentioned San Bernardino produced a heisman trophy winner
Left the portland metro a year ago and will never return
I moved to Portland a month ago. I love it.
My cousin liven in Fresno for a while as an airplane pilot, now he lives in western Washington.
Stockton is horrible (I grew up close by) because it is a failed social experiment. They took lower income people and put them in middle income neighborhoods to show they could raise the quality of life of those from the lower income demographic but the opposite happened. They brought down the neighborhood. That's why you don't have nice area and poor areas, instead you have nice streets and poor streets right next to each other. As real estate broker, I rarely take listings in Stockton because the comps are very difficult due to how overlapping the areas are.
A major problem with Tacoma is there police are apathetic. A crime could be happening in front of the cops and they just don't care, as they don't want to get involved. But heaven forbid if there is a black news paper delivery person, then the cops go full rambo on the black guy.
9:15. Where do you put Idaho Falls or Twin Falls on that list?
15:02 San Berduuuuu! I used to work in city government and we used to call them the 760-ers. Weird people. Too much sun and too much sand.
I live in San Bernardino and moving to Eugene at the end of the year.
My wife and I moved our family from San Diego to Spokane in 1996. Never regretted the move. Great schools and amazing outdoor activities. Lots of culture and sporting events. Yes there is homeless like San Diego has but what you can get for your money in regards to homes. Lots of people moving here. People are down to earth and friendly.
I spent a year in Fresno one weeded. Dullsville, USA. Surprised Hemet isn’t on the list.
went to tacoma before and didn't feel safe. I stayed at this hotel in tacoma and I had to use my roomkey to enter, to use the elevator, basically to do anything. I also went to a wingstop in Tacoma and there were bars around the window and by the ordering station
I live in Rialto and we call it San Bernarghetto
This must be some kind of record-I live in Tacoma and have been to every one of the cities on this list. Looking to move somewhere else!
I had a friend that lived in Tacoma and she loved it, she came from a good sound middle class family, not all
Of Tacoma is bad
Tacoma as a whole is s trap, nobody wants to live in Tacoma
I wonder how Albuquerque NM didn't make this list. Its crime rate is 170.9% higher than the national average, and the average home price is 370k.
Woodcrest is in Riverside not San Bernrdino
I lived in las vegas. It was pretty bad. I moved back home. Las Vegas was a disappointing. You are right on.
I love the Greenville Falls, and Sioux Falls are really really pretty too!
When you mentioned St.Louis you said bulldoze East St.Louis unfortunately you did not differentiate between St.Louis, Missouri & East St.Louis Illinois 2 different states...Keep the videos coming Mr.Briggs
I live in Vegas and love it. We have crime, but who doesn't
I've lived in and around Spokane since 2001. It has been shocking to see the lack of regard for some of these beautiful and historic old neighborhoods that the city holds. The homeless crisis I have seen here is worse than what I ever saw in Portland Oregon simply due to a lack of facilities or amenities for these people to access. The suburbs and small towns around the area are wonderful and for the most part the violent crime is concentrated in the concentrated in the East central, West Central and areas around downtown which statistically are where the homeless population tend to congregate. The north side of town is still relatively town is still benign and middle-class and there are lots of and there are lots of great walkable neighborhoods as you get farther up into the South Hill for farther north in the areas around Colbert. Spokane Valley has a lot of wonderful areas and still a very family-centric vibe as does our Northern more rural areas such as Deer Park. There has been a dedicated effort to assist the local law enforcement in helping the crime rate particularly in the downtown area and to bring more arts and culture activities back to downtown in the aftermath of covid. Thank you for having such a wonderful Channel and for highlighting both the benefits and the drawbacks of so many of our lesser known cities!
Yes except on deer park. Y’all been getting your crazy people crimes in the last few years 😂. Camp hope being gone has been a plus though
@@benparrish9547 True that, there have been and show them the back out of town for. But thankfully at least in a small town, everybody knows everybody for the most part and nobody gets away with things for long and eventually somebody talks.
Make videos breaking down large cities like LA,NY
Wood crest in San Bernardino? I have never ever heard of this place.
Fresno is actually a fun place to live. There are events like concerts , trivia nights at bars, karaoke, art hop, (the list goes on) happening every day of the week. A pretty nice zoo, a few lakes all within a 45 min drive and access to San Fran and LA within a 4 hour drive either way. People usually hate a place because they refuse to put any effort into looking for what a place has to offer.
Yeah, Spokane has a bad homeless situation, especially in downtown where they gather. We have programs, but we need people to get help. I can't really do anything. I was born and raise here. it's bad could be better, but it is home.
I moved out of Anchorage in 2020, and it was sadly getting worse there. Though oddly I wouldn't have guessed Sand Lake to be the hotspot for crime. Fairview and Mountain View always seemed like the place I didn't want to be around.
I was thinking the same thing. I had to remember where Sand Lake was at in Anchorage. I lived in Fairview for awhile growing up which is pretty close to downtown. He should've named Fairview, Mountain View, and Muldoon. If you want to find drugs, bums, and actual gang members then those are the places to be.
Is Spenard still rough? I worked the overnight shift at a Mapco Express when it first opened in 1992. Saw some really crazy stuff during those nights.
@@gremlin35 I lived off Spenard for a few years and yeah it's gunshot alley. Those seedy motels still around too.
We lived in Stockton in the early 70s. That was the first place I ever lived where I kept the house locked, and also locked my car doors when I was driving. 🤷♀️
ETA, the worst place back then was French Camp.
Are ANY cities in the U.S. improving their homeless problems? (without just putting them on a bus and passing the buck to another city, of course.)
I'm shocked Bakersfield and Barstow didn't make your list.
I left Fresno years ago. I hardly ever visit it today. The west side was bad 60 years ago and still is.
Did you leave Oakland CA out of the list on purpose?
He did were you not listening???😂
Tacoma sucks. It's hilarious that people that live in Federal Way, Burien, Tacoma, Kent, Renton, Auburn and Spanaway say they live in Seattle. They have done that forever. I grew up in Bellevue, 4 miles from Downtown Seattle and have never claimed to be from Seattle.
I've been to all of them except Anchorage ... just passing through.
I’m surprised to not see Pueblo, CO on the list. Is it not big enough to be considered a city?
Yeah, I'm confused about that too. I used to live in the Springs and would go down to Pueblo sometimes. It was kind of rough there, although they did have a nice river walk.
@@EricPS you went to Pueblo on purpose?!?!
I used to go there for work, and the office location was by the river walk, and immediately on the river walk is nice, and has some decent restaurants. Conversely, having coworkers and contractors there also gave me the inside scoop on stuff going on there.
@SkitteroneGaming-dm2pd Yes, on purpose, went there to go to a festival right adjacent to the river walk. And then a few other times as well. Except for the river walk area, I thought that place was kind of sketchy and runned down. But that was about 15 to 20 years ago. Hopefully it has changed for the better. If not, it should be on this list too.
Moved to Spokane from San Jose 2 years ago, grew up in western NC. We love it here and could actually afford a house unlike many of the other outdoor adjacent cities in the west.
Spokane’s crime rate is terrible, but the issues are definitely concentrated in a few places around the city (east central being one of them).
We walk downtown for dinner all the time and walk back late at night, never feel unsafe, there are usually a lot of people out on Friday and Saturday nights even in winter.
Plus we can bike from our door to trails in 3 different directions, have great parks, and have lots of good skiing very close.
I moved to Spokane about 2 1/2 years ago from So Cal. (Orange County ) Born n raised in California. I’m having a rough time here…it’s gloomy here most of the year, crime is bad, trashy in some places and not much entertainment. Unless you like hunting or want to be reclusive, don’t move here.
@@SusanM. we actually are surprised at the entertainment for a small city, we go to a lot of concerts and events and have met a lot of other transplants we go out with regularly. We are in our mid-20s, I could see it being different at different ages though.
We have never hunted in our lives but have a lot of fun biking the centennial trail or beacon or hiking in Riverside at least a couple times a week.
@@UsefulFarmer349 I’m glad you’re liking it in Spokane and have settled in nicely. Yes, I’m a wee bit older than you lol so I can see how you might find more to do. You know all the shopping and restaurants we had in California…especially in the bay area and socal, that isn’t here and I miss it. Plus, we live in a “good” neighborhood and yet my husband’s work truck has been broken into twice and his gas taken. “Petty Crime” is big here. The people are friendly though lol
Not surprised to see my city ranked No. 2
