Antoine has just lost his position as a senior executive in a large company. Catherine left her job at a publishing house for a project that turned out to be illusory.

But when they meet, to shine in each other's eyes, they carefully hide their professional and financial setbacks from each other. Their love story begins under the guidance of tangled lies. Very quickly Catherine is forced to find a living environment that no longer corresponds to her pretensions. She invents all sorts of pretexts to prevent Antoine from visiting her. He himself, harassed by the bailiffs, must take, while waiting for an offer which is slow to come, a temporary job which forces him to betray his commitments. Discouraged, Catherine gives in to the advances of a former colleague. But a small miracle allows Antoine to finally receive the job offer he deserves. He rushes to the station and stops the train taking Catherine away in time. Once all the lies are confessed, the future belongs to them.
