The Wild Fishing Scotland boys mustve been welding cos I cant see them belting about in the fanny magnet. Brilliant video. Even though they aint in it.
5:08 and 5:50 I miss the two skyways that used to take you to the train station or the leisure centre, the river front doesn't feel the same without them.
Man that radio was as eclectic as my Spotify list. I'm assuming that musta been Tay AM? Genuinely had no idea that they played newer songs pulp/oasis, also don't go away was never released here so they were playing album tracks. Kate Bush to kick it off and tears for fears to end, I feel like I missed out 🤣
Wow back then those cars looked normal before i could drive, now all those cars are classics that everyone looks at when drive by, its crazy how things change in just two decades, roads look alot safer too,no distracted drivers texting or on phones lol😁👍🏴
Chings I grew up in Dundee in the 60s, left in the late 70s. Im currently reading "The Cresent" a story set in 1890s Dundee and its more recognisable than the Dundee in your video LOL
@9:29 there is a Toys R Us ad for the Sega Megadrive for £129.94. There is no way they were selling that in 1999. I searched, and found the TV spot with the exact same audio "Toys R Us UK TV Advert 1992 (TSW Region) Featuring Sega Mega Drive", and it's from 1992. Which makes more sense listing ot the music, how it's more late 80's. So yeah, 1992!
I've spent too long sleuthing, guy on radio announces Tay FM thing on Monday 9th January 1995 Mega Drive advert meaning maybe still in 1994. But then the Blockbuster advert later cleary sets it in the Year 2000. So I have no clear conclusion beyond the guy made his own audio and stitched some mixture of eras in.
"The original videos had classical music so I replaced it with engine sounds, era appropriate music and some archived radio Tay jingles and adverts I found online to help give it a realistic atmosphere as if you were there."
@@neozeed8139 I hear what you’re saying - I don’t think anywhere was selling new Megadrives by ‘99. The vehicles in the video point to it being late ‘90s though - not least the gold Mk2 Renault Clio around the 10:30 mark (released in ‘98), and the P reg lorry (August ‘96 onwards) in clear view around the 14:20 mark. There are plenty of other cars visible (Ford Ka, Mk 4 Fiestas, mk2 Rover 400s, a Daihatsu Grand Move, and a Renault Scenic) that were only sold after ‘95 or ‘96. I can’t be sure, but I think there’s even a maroon Audi A4 estate on an S plate at one point. Maybe the audio isn’t the same vintage as the visuals?

Dundee is the only city in Scotland worse than Aberdeen, despite Aberdeen being voted the UKs most miserable city. No wonder 95 percent of Scots live in Edinburgh and Glasgow. There is nothing in the North of Scotland.
The amount of tress!!! Bring them back!!
Ward on your wireless. Holy throwback, Batman.
I like the old cars and the old music playing. Obviously it wasn’t old then as I’m watching this in 2024 but you know what I mean. Fantastic.
Old music...God damn 😅
Love old films and look at those cars! 🐶🏴☀️🌲
Great footage and our Scotland!

That Blockbuster advert was great. Awesome footage
Awesome! Brings back memories of me working on the roof at the Overgate shopping mall!
Drove all the way to Dundee in my bare feet once. Gorged myself on one of those big toblerones. Rock bottom

The Kate Bush bit was a trailer for the Ward on the wireless show. Loved Tay am.
Definitely, when local radio was local!
The radio is edited in no? The original video this was taken from just had music
Tay AM was absolutely insufferable.
3:12 station ident
Looks alot busier with people
2023 and the roads are full of potholes, in some places you can barely see the markings... definitely looked better back then🤔
Definitely, no overflowing bins weeds everywhere and dirty streets.
I remember going through Dundee on the way to Aberdeen. That gas holder is not there anymore.
Yes it is that’s it when it’s full when empty it goes all way down so less noticeable. Pass it most days.
I got whiplash from that BlockBuster advert

Load of Cavaliers still about then. Opel Manta on the left just into the Ferry too.
Or distracted by silly bl00dy big touchscreen displays in cars.
Funnily enough, seen 2 Cavs in Dundee yesterday within a few mins of one another. Only one of them currently on the road though.
Everybody drove classic cars in those days.
Didn't dundee and all of planet earth get blown up in 1992?
No unicorns. Undead or otherwise. Must be fake.
Dundee should have...
must be another timeline
Brilliant thanks.

Good old Scotflow (Scammel) recovery truck in bridge car park.
Bridge tolls, no potholes and trees! Some things have progressed for the better but not all.
Was the Tay Bridge toll only one way?
Intially a toll both ways then one way then toll’s on all road bridges abolished in Scotland early noughties.
I'll show ye the road and the jiles tae Dundee
And I love 2000
whats that last song?
And 1912 and 1999 and 1992 Dundee
I love 1970

15 min in Dundee and 5 in Ferry...
