    This is the first English language documentary celebrating the life and works of poet-philosopher Sir Muhammad Iqbal.
    His relevance to our contemporary global predicament is discussed in light of human emancipation and global consciousness for freedom of the human spirit.
    Written and Directed by Jeremiah Hammelring, it reflects on Iqbal's perspectives via an international team of academics from across Western and Eastern Universities along with representatives from UN.
    To my understanding, it is perhaps the most empirically researched film documentary on Iqbal focusing on this dynamic view on the evolution of human consciousness, innovative thought and global emancipation.

    I think its a great documentary , the essence of Iqbal's thought is captured very well.I can only hope that we come together as Humans first and then something else. The message given by Iqbal is universal and we would need to understand it even more when we are going through chaos in our lives in 21st century. Now is the time to spread love and embrace differences. Be part of the greater existence and immerse ourselves in love, Its beautiful and God is beautiful, appreciate the time we have been given to do something meaningful , work hard to explore whats beyond and use science to move forward.

    IQBAL ---- a monumental poet, a devout beleiver in ISLAM, a believer in LOVE and Humanity---- he remains to be GOD-believer and nice humanist person. But his place in human history remains a controversial happening. What is the human future in this world of ours remains controversial as well.

    Reconstruction of religious thought in ISLAM is a good non-poetic work by IQBAL. Have read it. It is good book---- lot of thoughtful duscussion about ISLAM. IQBAL was the poet and philosopher who presented the idea of a separate homeland from Indian Sub-continent. Finally PAKISTAN came into existence. Unforrunately PAKISTAN did go through a violent political turmoil. After going through this political turmoil and disorder, PAKISTAN remains a bit untable socially and politically and econmically. Future of PAKISTAN is still not very clear.

    I was just reading the book by muhammad iqbals, east meets west . My jaw dropped at the complete denial of the not so nice verses in the koran. Talk about a whitewash. Things like that do not help the situation at all.

      When you approach things with a bias in your mind, that is the kind of conclusion you reach. Many people read the Quran without considering the context in which it's written. Most of the Quran is; Allah providing comfort and condolence to Prophet's heart against the brutal social forces against him

  • @plt7915

    I both love and hate Iqbal. love because he wrote the beautiful song sare Jahan se accha Hindustan humara. and hate because partition was hi idea which cause division in Hindu Muslim community resulting millions killed and other forcefully had to left their home and rest is history. I'm telling this as my parents had to left their home land in Bangladesh due to his idea.
    My question to my Pakistani brothers are does partition worth it???? does it worth millions of life loses???? can't Congress and Muslim league solved their problems themselves rather than divide the country???
    and the worst part is the country can be divide upon linguistics or ethnicity but not upon religious faith.

    • @javidkagzi
      @javidkagzi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes. Same nationalistic jingoism. Our 100 million years old civilization bla bla. Btw Same thing happened between Greece and Turkey. Exchange of populations. Don't underestimate the effect of a differences of Religion and Spirituality on human mind. We can speak same language, Eat same kind of food, have same ethnicity but we can never ever think in a same way. Idolatry and Nationalism (which is nothing but neo tribalism) were two very concepts against which Islam was founded. These are the two core concepts of Indian (i.e. Hindu in Arabic, Persian and Latin) society. I respect your religion and love you as human being. I as a Muslim in India would have preferred to stay as a one country but it would have been chaotic.

    • @javidkagzi
      @javidkagzi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You do not know what I am talking about. Have you read Thomas Aquinas or at least heard of him? Heard of Averroes, Ibn Arabi etc.. Then you will know what is common between Islam and West. Islamic scholars have successfully integrated greek philosophy much before Christianity did. Islam belongs to West and not backward cultures like East. You are an idiot if you think otherwise. And yeah I know people like you who pray only to get Jannah. Don't argue with me unless you are well read of history and Philosophy.

    • @carlamedina4232
      @carlamedina4232 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sourav Poddar, You 're saying the country could be divided upon linguistic or ethnic differences but not on religious differences? Consider though, that religion for both Hindus and Muslims is more than whether you pray in a mosque or a temple, they both come with vastly different socio-political ideologies (including various schools of thought within each). Islam abhors any division due to ethnicity, yet this is the very foundation of the varna system. Even "secular" India today boasts about being pluralistic yet is rife with internal divisions and systemic racism. All is well and good if you're a fair-skinned Rajput from a wealthy family, and claim your culture is the original inheritor of the subcontinent. Where do Dravidians fit in? Hindu Nationalism just proves why partition was necessary.

    • @carlamedina4232
      @carlamedina4232 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Storm, I dunno, I really doubt you're a muslim. I think you're just a BJP troll. You said in another comment you would spit on Muhammad Iqbal's grave? And you seem to be happy that muslims are killing each other by blowing themselves up. Pakistan is a very geopolitically sensitive area with a history of corruption and sectarian violence fuelled by the US, you seem to have very little sympathy.

    • @carlamedina4232
      @carlamedina4232 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Storm, I'm glad to hear that you wish for peace for all people. I won't tell you my nationality or religion, but I have witnessed the internal destruction of Indian society by the British, and the destruction of Pakistani society by the US. It also pains me to see such blatantly hateful propaganda spewed on Indian media every day. I hope people of different backgrounds can overcome the hateful ideas of their politicians and the media and live in peace together. No offence intended.

  • @skihjacob990
    @skihjacob990 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Behind the mask of all the sugar coated jargoan and poetic represenation of iqbals thoughts, it all boils down to one thing. This person called Iqbal was worried about only one thing i.e. muslims. In an extremely pluralistic indian subcontinent society with numerous religions cultures languages etc dating back to thousands of years even before advent of islam, all this person could think of was what about my muslims and nothing else. Its one thing if he worked for peace and harmony and propagating rich indian diversity and bringing forth concerns of various communities. Rather on the contrary this guy was one of the foremost people to propose sep nation for muslims. Not even once did he think that this is not abt him or muslims/islam rather this great indian subcontinent precedes islam and neither he nor anybody else has rights to divide such a land and propose a nation like pakistan solely on one religion..if he one of the greatest poet and academician couldnt think beyond himself and his religion people, Im sorry to say he only reflects the problems of islam today and not the solution.
    Unlike someone said in the video it wasn't about 'Hindu' congress vs 'Muslim League'. It was secular indian congress vs we the muslims, we should be given power Muslim league.

    • @carlamedina4232
      @carlamedina4232 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The two nation theory was not about a theocratic muslim state. The idea of a separate state is because of the vast socio-political ideological differences between Islam and Dharmic religions. They're not just different religions, but different traditions of social construct, philosophy, law, literature, customs. Look at the huge problem of just eating beef! Jinnah wanted a united India and tried his utmost to attain it, but it wasn't possible then, and sectarianism in India isn't any better today.

      So what is the meaning of his thousands of lines for humanity and love. He was a great academician and a Muslim scholar at the same time. SO he argued for humanity in a whole sense and Muslim especially. What's wrong with that. just took the example of his last radio message to civilians. After that how can we say such an illogical argument.
