Hi all! Emily Nash here, the writer and lead actress in the film. So thrilled you're loving it so far, and happy to answer any questions you may have! Happy holidays!
Hey Emily ✨️ Well that was pretty emotional and fun to watch 🫶 What was your inspiration and motivation to write the story? One of my grandmother's was Jewish she married outside of the faith and I wonder if she 'was her own woman' given the era she married, sadly I never knew her to ask she had passed away before I was born. Stay Safe and Happy Holidays to you, too 🧡🕊☯️☮️🌲
I have a question: Considering the size and age of the universe, why haven't we seen any substantial evidence of life on other planets? Also, why would anyone think apples would be a good base for a cake?
@@2pie2mash Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Around the time I wrote the film, I had just turned 30 and was thinking a lot about the Jewish traditions I was raised with and how beautifully they informed my adult life. I was also dating (now engaged to) a non-Jewish man (who actually plays Jack in the film!) and I found that being partnered to a non-Jew actually made me want to better define what being Jewish meant to me at its core and how I could fold my version of Judaism into our lives. I've always loved coming of age stories and romantic comedies, specifically "13 Going on 30", and I wanted to find a way to put my own unique, modern spin on those genres. I'm passionate about using comedy to spread Jewish joy in a time we need it most, and I wanted to underscore the idea that there is no "right" way to be Jewish!
the lying, the pretence, the acting, the truth. the insensitivity, the blindness, the characters, the cinematographty, the madness, what isn,t there to like... many thanks to all concerned
That song is "Silver Lines" by John Noble Barrack, who plays Jack in the film! You can stream the song wherever you listen to music. We sing together on that song!
