What sucks for newer players is that we weren’t around for the Jr. Boogie and Oda Warrior familiar meta and they nuked familiar drop rates. And they don’t seem to be returning pot-able badges or Glimmering Wonderoid Hearts. Maplestory just has so much FOMO.
I wish they would add nodestones and red familiar cards (maybe even a few arcane symbol selectors) in reward point shop in Reboot. I feel it isn't even that hard or unbalancing to do, since Clover event has 100 nodestones and 10 exp nodestones available per month. Maybe even make a weekly quest from Roro to get red cards or add epic/unique familiars in points shop idk.
I dont think nexon cares enough to change anything about the familiar system, especially since it is only overseas content. Im a bit pessimistic about the game but in my experience, they only want to delay progression of players so they stay playing the game longer. As far as familiars go, i think the current system is what we are stuck with until they remove the system as a whole and once again leave new players in the dust of the older players
Agreed, but honestly boss fams wont be attainable anymore for new players unless they get completely blessed. I think eventually it will be added but not anytime soon
I did the math btw, the average number of familiar points you need to get boss at epic tier is 38,306.25 assuming you rank up starting at rare. The chance to get boss aiming for unique including the previous epic and the epic line in unique is 51,137 (more likely to be an epic line of boss rather than a unique one, and only 2 of the 3 unique lines are stronger). I recommend people going for epic until they get 3 good bossing familiars, then swap to unique like you said. Also you getting 3 boss fams is still fairly lucky given the odds I pointed out. Some people get lucky and have 3 bossing fams, others get unlucky and are stuck with nothing except maybe ied(ied is easier to get than boss) or another weaker line
what do you mean by familiar points? Like the points from foddering rare to epic? What is the chance to hit a boss fam on epic with your math? I'd really like to know :o

So you do 2x # rares + # commons to get your # of familiar points per totem or per hour to calculate how long it'd take to get an epic boss fam. The chance to get either 20% or 30% boss at epic is a 0.294985% chance. Unique is a 0.441826% chance to get a unique boss fam however, the cost for unique on average costs 375 points while epics only cost 112.5 points. If we include the epic line at unique(the 2nd line), then it's a 0.7368% chance to get 20%, 30%, 30%, 35%, or 40% boss. That still costs 50,895 familiar points on average to get a boss line at unique, with a chance that it'll be an epic tier boss% since it's on the 2nd line. If you can somehow farm 400 points per hour(a very high rate). Then it'll take around 95.3 hours per epic boss fam. Unique will take 127.2 hours per boss fam(this includes the 2nd line boss). It would be a lot more if you only care about the first unique line. So if you farm 34 hours a month(17 totems), then you can see how long it'd take to get each. And you'll out level limina eventually. Ofc rng plays a role in this, if you get insanely lucky with great fams early on, then you can greed for better stuff.
Some of those lines should not even exist on Unique familiars. Imagine having to grind for 250 familiars for a not guaranteed Unique familiar, just to get increased jump, DEF, or even “increase … by a small amount.” I get that Nexon needs to make money, but they can do that by giving Reboot players Red familiar cards. Either limit the stock like reward shop items, make them event items, or even sell them for a lot of mesos (1b for example). That would guarantee the grind to increase, thus more player hours. Plus, we don’t even get Legendary familiars.
There's a bunch of stuff that really needs to be implemented. The familiar one is definitely something I've been talking a lot about and also the lack of access to nodestones. I get only about 30-35 nodestones in a totem if im lucky and it's just so scarce. Quality of life for these things need to improve lol

Got a 30% boss and a 20% ied fam within 10 epic card openings, and I was actually super blessed and lucky to have those. It really is a shit system though like you said especially when kanna farming isn’t the meta anymore
I don't even bother with familiars outside of the badge system. It's extremely dumb the potential changes after a rank up, and, it takes so many cards to gain a rank. They want you to buy red familiar cards, so the system will remain broken on Reboot (unless they change the DR by a massive amount, or change amount needed to rank).
Bro do you know if i can get "Increases Item Drop Rate by a large amount (100%)" from unique fams? i've opened around 200 epic fams and still havent got one yet; i play in reg server
It's about 1/138 chance and you may be 1 or 2 standard deviations below that. Some people open 500 before they see one. Don't recommend going to unique, it's even more rng due to failure rate. You want epic large drop asap.
I doubt Reboot will ever add red cards. Its a Reg server P2W exclusive. Like bonus cubes. If reboot had free red cards then more Reg server players would go to reboot instead of spending 3k on red cards in Reg server. Reboot is already much more popular and easier to progress then Reg servers, red cards will widen that gap and incentivize people to play on Reboot.
Should you even go for unique in reboot or just go epic familiars are trash and tier up to unique is trash took me 10 tries to unique just to get like +5 hp lol

I've gotten over 60+ uniques and 300+ epic familiars. I still don't have a Large Drop familiar, it's really depressing.

Yeah you can get it from unique. It's just really rare :(. On average it takes 140-170 fams opened. Hopefully you hit soon .....
