    good video man, I've actually used a deadfall trap to kill a deer when we were camping one time and ran low on food, people don't realize the power a deadfall can produce when it falls on an animal, this is just a small one and could be very deadly to an animal, I loved the video, and reading the comments you have responded too, if they don't like the vids then they need to learn to click and move on

  • @brentgordon1246
    @brentgordon1246 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    might I suggest a modification or improvement, keep it the way it is and add about 25 lbs of weight on top then at the entrance in a "U" shape pattern add 3"-4" rising spikes so when the animal is forced down given it is large enough it will be impaled in place without major damage to the harvestable meat and increasing the shock damage and reducing the ability to maneuver out of the trap. or make a smaller secondary deadfall to drop lengthwise at the opening in an attempt the break the neck

    You should make a video of how to super size this trap so that it could be used for protection during the zombie invasion.

  • @sigma3survivalschool
    @sigma3survivalschool  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    you stack rocks on it and you can make this as heavy as you want. I could easily construct a 1000 lb deadfall with this. All by myself. We have a much bigger one at our camp now. This is just a demonstration so you get the concept of how to build it. I am not building a huge one as a demo.

    I noticed from comments that most people already know how to make one of these traps or similar one. Could you make a video showing details to beginners that have never done trap? Only thing I know about deadfalls is that they are suppose to be 3 times the weight of the animal you want to catch, but have no idea how to build them and which stick goes where. Thanks. :)

    instead of using cord to tie spikes as suggested in the comments and instead of using rocks would spikes stuck into the ground be a better option?

    Wow all the haters out there, Spear fisher, really? I've never met these guys, but I've taken the time to watch a few videos and they show some basics and advanced techniques, their not charging you to watch it and no one gets paid enough to be given the crap your tossing at them.
    Now this is a decent video, unscripted, and yah people repeat themselves and say things they don't need too. But its a trap and if you never made this type before or hadn't given it much thought, you now have seen it in action. If your smart you could make it 40 ways to Sunday with whatever you manage to find, surviving for real, someday. You could add spikes, it could be a single log or 20, it could be with natural cordage, or even shave Cody Lundins hair and braid your own rope to make it your way. These are all options for the intelligent person.
    So, Spear Fisher, Would you like to show us how Trolls build a trap?

  • @wesbic
    @wesbic 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I would have liked to see more detail put into the craftsmanship of each piece to the trap. If you're teaching how to make this, I feel like a more detailed explanation would have been better.

    use charcoal or other things to hide your smell. it will take a couple of days for scent to go away, but that doesn't always prevent the animal from taking the bait. good bait will make animals overlook a lot of things.

  • @coutxxStatix

    I remember my grandpa using one of these traps in the mountains of Cuba
    I was little but I remember he used three logs
    and he used to put very sharp stick coming out of the logs so the animal die faster and don't suffer too much
    and also the meat doesn't taste so gaming

    i followed your instruction from your course i attended and today caught a moose with a polo mint atached to some fishing line, the moose sucked for 3 days and was easy to dispatch with a candy cane blow to the anus. I wore camo pants so i could creep up on the hairy freak! Thanks for the advice, I'm eating the brute tonight!

      the bait is at the back of the trap and this trap doesn't need to be as quick as say a pauite deadfall, because it targets larger and slower animals.

    you can add weight up until the maximum strength of the single strand of bank line

  • @thnderdan73
    @thnderdan73 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    One quick question regarding the idea of placing a flat rock or series of rocks underneath. Wouldn't it be better to have jagged rocks placed underneath so that when the logs come down - the weight pushes the targeted animal down into sharper rocks which are more likely to inflict damage on the animal? I'd think having a head caught between two flat pieces is preferred over the option of having something big and heavy mash my head against something sharp? Your thoughts? Thank you!

  • @thnderdan73
    @thnderdan73 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    HAHA. I love some of the comments you have to respond to. Just remember that for every negative or belligerent comment you receive there are 10 of us that are amazed at the skills that you've learned - and are trying to acquire these skills. I think your videos are damned near perfect and make it easy for even a novice to give this a shot. Keep it up! One day I hope to take a few of your courses!!! Thank you!

  • @EaganTheTrollface
    @EaganTheTrollface 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry that I might not understand, but how it works is after tying the weight (logs) to the vertical stick holding them up, an animal steps on the stick on the ground which is barely holding back the vertical stick, which flips up (and possibly pop you in the face, haha,) and the logs fall, and the stick flattens with them? I think I got the basics right, correct me if I don't.
