FOR YEARS, I was angry that we didn’t make a play for Holtz. Now, I know the story.

Liked him at Ohio State, my favorite school, and team! When he coached at Notre Dame I thought he was a big winer, and when he said Ohio State was soft, and Notre Dame was a better team, we all know that was bullshit before the season was halfway over!

Lou Holtz on everything related to Ohio State in the late 1970s except Woody Hayes, who isn't mentioned.

I never knew Lou's reasons for not taking the OSU job... Thanks for posting!

Should have offered Lou Holtz the job then and there. Ohio State’s football program was set back nearly two decades by hiring Earle Bruce

I disagree! I’m a Buckeye fan, and I think Earle Bruce was a great coach, and Lou Holtz was overrated at everywhere but Ohio State! 🌰🏈

Misleading title. I've read that before with him.

I’m sorry, did I miss the part where he mentions Woody Hayes? Did you just name this video that to get views?

Woody Hayes was a good man. Lou disappoints me on this if he actually knew Woody.

That's ok he couldn't beat OSU anyway we didn't miss him anyway.

I never knew Holz was up for the Ohio State job. He would have probably done a great job there, but when he was at Arkansas it looked like he had a winner there. Unfortunately, it never worked out for him there partially because that was when Texas and A&M were dominating the Southwest Conference and Arkansas pretty much was an outsider due to the fact they were the only non-Texas school in that conference.

Lou Holtz always coached and recruited on the edge. I like Lou. He would have won at Ohio State like he did at Notre Dame. But Ohio State would have probably gone on probation like every other school Holtz coached. Every time Lou Holtz left a program, it was hit with NCAA probations shortly thereafter: NC State, Minnesota, Arkansas, Notre Dame, and South Carolina were all found to have violated NCAA rules while under the leadership of Holtz.

You just make that up? Internet is obviously available to check facts! Arkansas football has never been on probation, banned from bowls or lost scholarships under Lou or any other coach.

“Never worked out for him there?”
Really? What was his record at Arkansas? How many conference titles did he win?

@Michael Wainscott, No, Lou Holtz did not get NCSU on probation. He left NCSU in Jan 1976 to take an NFL HC job with the NY Jets. 7 years later, NCSU football did get very minor sanctions, but that was under HC Monte Kiffin - had nothing at all to do with Holtz.

@@markd.5471 Lou went to a bowl game every year at Arkansas except the year Broyles let him go or he would have that year as well. He recruited honestly while SMU and others were recruiting with $100 bills and New Trans AM's.

I know and don't understand that because Trump would never have made it on Lou's teams; he has no character or integrity whatsoever.

@timparker5246 I'm not so sure Biden would have made it on any of Holtz's teams either.
