Who will pay for townhome destruction after deadly Henderson barricade?

  • A days-long barricade ended with one man dead and a Henderson townhome destroyed to get to him. However, the man didn't live at the residence. Over 36 hours of gunfire and negotiations with a man the 8 News Now Investigators have identified as 31-year-old Trevor Cooper, a jujitsu specialist, left the residence he was barricading
in with broken windows, a boarded-up garage, and the back portion ripped off. The Henderson Police Department (HPD) confirmed gunfire was exchanged and tactical equipment was used to enter by Sunday morning when they said they found Cooper deceased.

@@scottmccrea1873 Or the insurance company will say to the homeowner "there is nothing in your policy covering damage by police. Sorry". The fact it is a townhouse may make this even more interesting because to the best of my knowledge, the HOA owns the entirety of the exterior of the building, so the HOA may be on the hook for any exterior repairs, but from the interior dry wall inward they may say it is the homeowner's responsibility. There are cases of cities paying for damage caused by police, but they are exceptionally rare.

    • @scottmccrea1873

@BLdontM that's not how townhouse HOAs work in Nevada. I live in one. The exterior is the common responsibility of the unit owners and not the HOA. May work differently with big building type decelopments or in other states. And I believe thst absent war or rebellion or nuclear weapons, the insurance company has to pay. Sadly the police and government don't have to pay for it. If they're doing their job in good faith and they are trying to get a suspect out of a home they can use reasonable Force to get that person out if that means that they had to destroy the front of the home with some type of vehicle to get him out safely or her out safely then yes they can use whatever Force they need to get them out. Some woman said a man ran into her home and the police absolutely trashed the home that was a different story they literally trashed her entire house like it was unlivable it was way overkill. I don't think that they are going to get anything from this one but who knows but most of the time the police don't have to make any repairs or pay for anything because the government says they are allowed to temporarily seize the property there's like a law or something about it actually there's a TH-cam channel his name is Ugo Lord. He has a lot of good tips about who's responsible for damages after theincident. His key phrases and the so-and-so is responsible for all the damages that happen next. So it would be in the homeowner would be responsible for all the damages that happened next. Or the black car would be responsible for all the damages that happened next. I really highly suggest you go check him out it's a pretty good channel

By nature firefighters are there to save people and property, its in their DNA. Cops honestly feel like they did their job when things get destroyed. Cops don't feel bad about destroying property. That is in their DNA.
I know a lot of cops who switched to fire. I only know one firefighter that wanted to be a cop.
