    I have the same pen in broad. Amazing writer and an absolute bargain if purchased directly from Japan. The broad nib will suite anyone who likes a western medium.

    Thank you for your comparison of the platinum nib with the pilot and the sailor. It helps me figure out which one to use, depending on what I am writing.

    I jist fixed a 1980s vintage diplomat for a friend. It ended up having what I suspect to be a platinum nib and needing a platinum cartridge, which suprised both of us.

      @@TheCreedBratton that is a pretty strange frankenpen, glad you got it working!

    Interesting, the trim piece and the squared off edges on the converter must be a new addition, as my old platinum converters don't have it.

    Great review.
    Out of those three pens, which one would you recommend?
    Any favorite?

    • @ForTheLoveOfPens
      @ForTheLoveOfPens  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@santauxia it really depends on your preferences, each are great in their own respect. Personally I prefer Sailor’s design and platiunum’s nib. But the Pilot nib options are unmatched

    Nice video. I have a few 3776s including a lovely celluloid. One can find some affordable used ones in Japan. Your Chartres Blue is gorgeous. I can see how it inspired by that stunning cathedral in Paris. The main thing I don't like is a bit silly, but the engraving on the fountain pen band and nib is a bit 70s feel with the bubble text. Otherwise I quite like the level of feedback and the size. I quite like the F nib, but I have small handwriting.

      @@AndrewWertheimer sounds like a great collection! The font is maybe a bit dated, I’m not sure if they ever changed it from when it first came out.

    I think l have a double broad (C?) nib and a music nib I bought just to see what they are like. The db has a lot of material on the end of the nib,so I think it’s more than a broad. The music nib seems to be very stiff.

    • @ForTheLoveOfPens
      @ForTheLoveOfPens  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MrAndrew1953 I’ve had a Pilot “C” which they refer to as “coarse” but is basically a BB. How’s the feedback on yours?

    • @MrAndrew1953
      @MrAndrew1953 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ it’s a very smooth writer as you’d expect from a nib like this. It feels to be quite a stiff nib with not a lot of spring in it. In an era where oversized,girthy pens are common, 3776 feels like a very compact,traditional sized pen like the Parkers my father wrote with.

  • @paulmchugh1430
    @paulmchugh1430 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I had this model with the same color but had a Soft Fine nib. It needed to be posted for my hand and did not back weight the pen due to how deep the cap posted.
    Why do I not have the pen anymore? I was not impressed with the nib. Yes it was bouncy but there was absolutely no line variation which is a shame.
    I opted to get a NOS Platinum President with a Medium nib. It does not have the slip and seal liner but I had it inked and capped for about 3 months and it did not dry out.
    The President has a larger 18K nib and the size is equivalent to a Montblanc 146. If I have any comment it that it need either a larger converter or it should have been a piston filler. I know Platinum has never made a piston filler.
    The nib is exquisite. It is one of the smoothest nibs I own.
