not sure I understand - why the searching at a high freq and then bring it down? Seems to sound ok to begin with. I'm so new at this though. Hard for me to get it.
Some of it is rolling off the frequencies that aren't important to the instrument. Then you can push the base frequency a bit. Sweep to find the sweet spot.

The best way to learn is to just jump in and experiment. Trumpet is actually one of the toughest instruments for me. I always end up compressing as far as I dare then using automation anyways. It requires patience. You will get it.
