Mamamoo's relationship with choreography is interesting. Until 2019 they choreographed their own videos and stages! Then they started working with Lia Kim and Mina Myong to improve their dance skills because it was a big source of criticism from haters. The performance skills of Mamamoo are all over the place save for vocals and it was funny that you picked Solar and Hwasa as the best dancers because they're generally considered to be the weaker dancers. Solar and Hwasa have the highest levels of serve though so pretty much anything they do looks great. Solar is a very conscientious performer and tends to want everyone to shine equally. When she did a solo song this year(th-cam.com/video/dZgDW31iCIM/w-d-xo.html) she wore the same outfit as her dancers so attention would be split. Honestly, Hwasa's dance skills are much better in her solo work(th-cam.com/video/3t9pWWTWJLs/w-d-xo.html) because there's no pressure to match the other members. Moonbyul is a good dancer but tends to prefer the more stylized choreography of male K-Pop performers(th-cam.com/video/42h_0l-F8g0/w-d-xo.html) and has gone on record as saying that she doesn't like dancing with a lot of hip movements. 😂 Wheein is considered to be the best dancer(th-cam.com/video/-RxAP9H5fas/w-d-xo.html) in Mamamoo overall but has the least amount of personal charisma because she's very, very shy. Like Hwasa, who is her best friend, Wheein performs better when away from the other members but in her case it's because she doesn't have to hold back her abilities so she doesn't outshine the others.

Also, another good recommend for the whole group would be rehearsal + performance of Gogobebe. Just cause they also have a 1Million Dance Studio version!
You should watch Wheein's performance videos where she doesn't hold back, they're pretty short and very good :)
I'm glad that you touched on it, one of my biggest issues with watching "dancer/choreo reacts to" is that they forget the difference between dancers and performers. The dancers and choreographers 'only' have to dance. Meanwhile the artist have to tone in down as they need to simultaneously do vocals and ~perform~. Especially with k-pop, it's drilled into them for YEARS to have that perfect balancing act. So sure, the movements aren't as exaggerated, but imagine having to sing every note perfectly and interact with the cameras/crowd at the same time? Nearly, if not entirely, impossible.

moonbyul (the rapper) had a shoulder/arm injury, she still performed through promotions but had to stop moving her arm towards the end of them and had it in a splint for a while. She and wheein (long black hair with bangs) are in charge of performance (mamamoo doesn't have official positions other than leader) so that means they are the members that shine a little bit more in dancing, it's a pity byul wasn't at her 100% cause she's great!
But all these was before her injury ,hwasa was the one with a back problem
@@mindyourownbusiness3276 nope, byul was already dealing with pain and even if you see the last stages for aya you can see she uses a hand mic and doesn't do the choreo with her left arm. hwasa had a back problem right before "maria" came out
@@Dontknowwhattosay Yes but Hwasa has to stay careful about her back so she doesn't relapse, she hasn't really taken any break since the injury so while she's healed, there's some moves she shouldn't do, a herniated disk is no joke.
@@booknerdjebbi5037 Everyone deals with pain differently they're all very strong willed but some injuries affect people differently it literally depends on the person.
Your analysis is very interesting. Your two favorite ladies were actually considered the least dancers of the group. This is why stage presence & charisma plays such an important role rather than just memorizing steps like a machine. These ladies cannot dance the exact same way to save their lives lol. because each put their own personality in the way they move. And this is what makes mamamoo unique. They break the standards of idols. This is just 1 of a hundred ways to follow them.

Moonbyul and Wheein are actually the best dancers. But Moonbyul is limited in that she likes dancing hip-hop and sharp choreographies more than this type
And she's injured too.
Personally as a dancer, I think Wheein & Byul are the best dancer in MAMAMOO but if I have to pick one, its Wheein is the best and strongest in the group because of her technique as a dancer and her able to transition every moves smoothly.
you should definitely react to mamamoo's hip ! also gogobebe, those are the two that have harder choreo, their older stuff wasn't as dance-focused since they're mainly a vocal group
I do love seeing them all dancing around in high heels though. Mostly for comedy reasons. Byulie noped her way out of heels as soon as possible! 😂

Nice reaction. funny tho that you didn't like the best dancers of the group. wheein has been praised by quite a lot of professional dancers and choreographers. than again Solar en Hwasa has a immense stage presence that influence a lot.
Little introdustion: mamamoo is a group that is largly known for their vocals and rap. And when we say vocal group we mean VOCALS!!. they recently stepped up their dancing to another level and i really like where it is going.
Your ending summary is accurate. Mamamoo is primarily a vocal group but has the capability to perform. Although it's funny that you said moonbyul maybe isn't the strongest dancer but she's considered the dancer of the group along with wheein. You love solar and hwasa! And they're fire as well. I think maybe this isn't moonbyuls type of dance and it shows. Please react more to mamamoo! And maybe check out Hwasa - Maria which is her solo song
If you watch mmmtv, you will see Moobyul's left arm in a sling.

the rapper of the group is actually very talented in dance, just not this type! she is more into hip-hop or more "masculine" type choreographies. the girl with bangs is probably the best and most versatile dancer, but her facial expressions aren't as strong. i recommend "eclipse" by moonbyul (the rapper) and wheein (the girl with bangs) 's dance cover of "lo lo".. loved the reaction!
I think this is more proof that people should put their "she is the best" in perspective. Best in what? There is never an ultimate best. Sure, Moon and Wheein are great dancers, but there are different skills and qualities to dancing. It makes perfect sense that they excel in some and Hwasa and Solar excel in others. Same for singing. Nice reaction!

I heard you enjoy and are a b-boy i recommend if you can react to CHUNGHA ‘PLAY’ dance practice, There are b-boys doing challenging tricks at the front and also male dancers dancing to house steps behind them. Together, they form a huge picture of people enjoying to the festival music of 'PLAY'.

Moonbyul was having problem with her left arm, off stage she had to wear a sling.

Wheein and Moonbyul are considered the dancers of the group. Wheein is definitely the best dancer but is probably the member with the least facial expressions, but she still controls her facial expressions very well on stage even if they aren’t super charismatic

You were right, the dancer with the red top is the choreographer Lia Kim and the dancer in the green pants is the choreographer Jiwon Jung. I’m not sure about Jiwon but Lia Kim is a pretty big name in the kpop industry, she has choreographed for many girl/boy groups as well as soloists since the second generation of kpop. After a while watching kpop, you start to pick up some of her signature moves/style of choreography even if you don’t know it was her who choreographed it.

I can only imagine when you start reacting to Seventeen, your vid might be 30 min. long at minimum with all the pauses...they also have rear versions of some dance practices to show that the guys in the back aren’t just hiding.

What he said is very interesting even tho Wheein and Byul are the dancers in the group they're not the ones that catch your attention at first bc they lack a little bit in facial expressions , Hwasa and Solar don't have technique but their stage presence is just insane when they're on stage they command

If you have another reaction to Mamamoo, you have to know Mamamoo always singing live, this is the reason they’re movement can not be solid as originial koreografer make it🤗
I enjoyed this reaction, just fyi the first video you found was not their actual dance practice, it was Mamamoo going to the choreographer's dance studio to do a guest spot, and dance with them, so the students could watch, and then learn the choreo, and then try it. Mamamoo has done this quiet a few times.

I saw a poster say Hwa Sa was considered one of the weaker dancers, but in an interview, Lia Kim (their choreographer) said Hwa Sa is the most gifted of them all as a dancer, and the most natural dancer. So that is probably what you are seeing.

I agree with you about the 2 girls (Hwasa and Solar) you picked up as 'best dancers' in the clip, their moves are fluid and powerful. Recently even Lia Kim (the choreographer) choose Hwasa for her charisma and aura while performing.

The rapper is actually one of the strongest dancers in the group, and wheein the one in the shorts in the first video is the other one specialised in dance but she is allot more versatile.
Mamamoo are performers when live they focus on that not only dance execution, as you said they are singers and what they are known for. They don't use a range of vocals easy as many think ... that's where even Lia said that she tries not to give them choreos that will bother them but also was impresed that even she expected for them to ask for a change or deny her suggestions on this one but they still stick to it and sang live while doing it. Same as HIP.
About moonbyul she indeed was injured while dancing, her arm if im not wrong. Wheeing and her are main dancers but also each have their own style, not sexy ones. You can check they solo dance or songs to see how they do it.

I hope you react to Weeekly! They use props in their choreography! They are a very young girl group with 17 being their average age! In ‘Tag Me’ they use desks and chairs and in ‘Zig Zag’ they use square cubes! I hope you check them out and analyze their choreography!
Mammamoo member started like Actually dance only couple years ago, when verus Lia Kim @13:43 (other choreographer) is the Founder and Chief choreographer of 1Million dance studio 😅 SO yeah, its impossible for Hwasa, or any of the members to match her level when she has decades of dance experience!😁😅

Moonbyul has actually hurt her arm during this comeback, that's why she seems so off sometimes.. but she has 2 solos and both are dance heavy.
One is Eclipse and the other one is Abscence and both are very different in sound and dance. I would recommend to react/analyze them, since moonbyul is actually one of the "main" dancers in the group (but they also dont have any actual positions anymore, besides the leader position!)

Him saying moonbyul is not a strong dancer makes me sad. If I remember correctly, she had an arm or shoulder injury around this time, plus it's not really her style. She doesn't really do a lot of hip movement/sexy dances, she's more into hip hop type of stuff. I think you should check out mamamoos other song "hip" tho!

Lia Kim is the lady with short hair and the pink top. She's a choreographer for a lot of Kpop groups. If you have time you should definitely check out her work with A.C.E. She choreographed Savage and Undercover and she even dances in the intro video. A.C.E as a group are really strong dancers and have some seriously intense choreo. Especially their new song Goblin.

Hey Emeroy, could you maybe react to Verivery - Thunder dance practice? It is in my opinion a really hard choreo and their synchronization is just amazing. I have not seen any people with dancing experience react to this and it would be amazing to hear your insight on it.

its funny that your two favorites are actually the only ones not part of the dance line in the group, but i get where you're coming from. Solar and Hwasa (that's their names) put the most energy and strength in their moves, while Wheein and Moonbyul are more smooth. I suggest you watch their dance covers though if you're interested, to get a more thorough idea of the members' skills.

Moonbyul (the rapper) and Wheein (girl with bangs) are actually both the main dancers in Mamamoo 😊 Since this isn't their style of dancing, you don't see the much of their potential in what they specialize in. Moonbyul prefers more of a powerful dance choreography and Wheein dance style is versatile.
I do recommend checking out WHEEIN DANCE COVER PERFORMANCES by Lil Pump Be Like Me and Destiny Rogers LO LO 😊 And Wheein rehearsal dance from her song call EASY.
As for MOONBYUL check out her solo songs: ECLIPSE and ABSENCE. 😊

You should have seen the 2020 MAMA performance. it's waay better than this (my non-dancer opinion hehehe). They tend to change the choreography on every award shows.
Moonbyul has solo that has dance focused in it, Eclipse and Absence, choreograph by boy group (EXO) choreographer.
Wheein is the best dancer and easily memorize the whole sequence in minutes. Followed by Byul. Solar and Hwasa, they are so sexy when they dance. ahaha

YES! Do HIP but I hope you also do Gogobebe, which wasn't that long ago (chronologically before AYA there was HIP and before HIP was Gogobebe) and their first foray into hiring professional choreographers for their songs!
Well you said you liked that one girl because she has great stage presence and a good performer?! Well you might as well check her youtube channel "SOLARSIDO" out! Her name is Solar. She's the leader of Mamamoo! Next to educating and fun content she also uploaded some dance covers! If you want you can react to them!
Nice commentary with smart, knowledgeable, unbiased opinions. I don't know much about dance but I think I'll learn a thing or two from you so I subscribed. Thanks for your time & effort, esp for a group that's considered to be the vocal queens rather than the dancing queens of kpop. Mamamoo is a vocal-first group that always sings live and for the first 5 years of their career they did most of their own choreo and kept it fairly simple so they could sing with hand mics. Hip and Aya are the only title tracks where the choreo required headset mics. MMM's performance philosophy prioritizes delivering excellent vocals, connecting with the audience, and having fun on stage rather than delivering pro-level dancing. Not that they can't dance well, obviously, but knife-like choreo is not their main focus.
It's interesting that your favorites were Solar (starts on the left) and Hwasa (starts on the right wearing the outfit you liked) since they're generally considered to be weaker dancers than the other two. I think your opinion reflects their charisma & stage presence and the fact that both of them perform with max intensity and project a larger than life persona. Solar always grabs my attention and Hwasa is kpop's fiercest diva on stage. Moonbyul (the rapper) and Wheein are the fastest to learn new choreo and have better technical chops but Wheein has a more reserved personality and Moonbyul's dancing was more low energy and relaxed on Aya than is typical with her, almost certainly due to an arm injury she sustained during Aya promotions.

If you are able to and find a way around copyright strike issues I would recommend Mamamoo's Aya performance at the MAMA awards along with their member Hwasa María performance! They're excellent performers/singers and their strength is definitely being on stage.

Both Moonbyul and Hwasa had injuries during this promotion. All four women are actually amazing dancers. Solar pole dances and is very good at it.

I have watched all the Twice and Stray Kids videos you did and I like them a lot as well as Mamamoo. Could you do a Got7 reaction. They released Breath and Last Piece. Breath is a more simple dance while Last Piece has a heavier choreo. I would love to see it since not many people know they had a comeback. Thanks for vids!

Why do 1million choreographers always insist on being in the dance videos? It takes attention away from the idols and confuses new fans.
I'm presuming that this is how idols can give recognition to the people who choreographed the dance that they're doing.

Moonbyul is not the main dancer! Her and Wheein are part of the "performance line" since mamamoo dont use main/lead! Also if they used those titles, Wheein would def be the main dancer cuz look at her like everyone who worked with them said Wheein's the best 🤷🏽♀️
