I would have never thought it was busy on that trail. It was such a delight to see all the scenery on this trail and great views. The lake was gorgeous 😊
It is really busy on the weekends on this trail. I just hike fast enough to put distance between me and others on the trail! It used to not be busy, but as everybody knows Utah has a grown a lot over the last decade. When you more than double the population trails get busy. It’s still one of my favorite places to visit here in the Wasatch. Thank you so much for watching! 🙏
That is a steep hike to a beautiful lake. I have not been there is decades. Nice fish! Let em go , let em grow! LOL. Looking forward to your Teton trip. Have a great day.
Red Pine is a steep one for sure! They changed the upper part of the trail to a series of switchbacks instead of sending you straight up the gut in those meadows to the lake. This was a great warm up for what was to come! I think they stocked this lake though I did get hit by some bigger one on the other side, but didn’t get any of them to shore. This trail really helped with the up and down that was coming on the TCT! Thanks for watching!
Hi Christian! Really pretty hike with so many wildflowers in bloom! I’ll have to look up this area- we haven’t hiked in the Lone Pine Wilderness before. Cute little fish, and a great campsite. Your WY trip sounds fun! 👌👍👍☀☀ Jen
Thank you so much! There are three designated wilderness areas here in the Wasatch- Mt. Olympus, Twin Peaks, and Lone Peak. All of them are worth a visit! Currently packing for the TCT which I start on Monday! Hope you had a great time with Steve! Thank you for watching!
Red Pine is one of my favorites here in the Wasatch! It was a good warm up for the Teton Crest Trail that I just got home from. Tons to come from that trip! Hope you are having a great season! Thanks for watching!
The foliage was thick even though the fish wasn't. Too bad you aren't allowed to have a fire there now. When I was young, this lake was not known very well. Good luck on your long distance hike.
These last two winters it has really grown in up there! I know the ones that weren’t taking it on the strike were bigger because I saw them jump out of the water surface feeding. Unfortunately, for me, every time they would strike my fly, I’d go to set the hook and there there was nothing there. I’ve caught some nice 12-13” ones before in there but they are definitely finicky. I was ok with the no fires because it was so smoky already and the air quality was not great. The wildfire smoke this year has been horrible. I’ve been hiking this trail all my life. The last time I went up here was in 2015. Just past the Maybird Junction, they have rerouted the trail so it’s not so straight uphill. That was kind of nice and definitely took the steep out of the last leg to the lake. The Tetons are gonna be an adventure! Thank you for watching! 🙏
