Shadow of the Beast looks like a Hieronymus Bosch painting come to life
Erin Shadow of the Beast was a graphical showcase for the Amiga before being ported to the Genesis and was a big hit in Europe. The graphics were weird and pretty mind blowing for a home release in 1989.
Strider is hard. I had it as a kid, beat it, and traded it with another kid in middle school for James Pond 2 Robocod. Terrible trade by me.
I run a gaming con in Ohio and if we do it in the fall, we would love to have you and mike there for sure. You guys rock.

Genesis games are usually A is magic/special, B is attack, C is jump.
Shadow of the Beast was remade on the PS4. haven't played it myself personally.

The way 's Skeleton Crew works is you press a and c to rotate your body so you can strafe. It's not instantly obvious. It's really easy once you get the hang of it. It's very short, only about 5 levels. You get passwords. Shadow of the Beast was very impressive when it came out. It is a famous artist doing the backgrounds. You are supposed to go left. It's weird and idiosyncratic. It's ok. It has a shooting stage. The sequels are quite nice games on Amiga if you can get over the oddness of the overall design.

Yes, that jungle strike and maximum Carnage I would be happy...I didn't own many...or play many other than that. I forgot Taz-mania.
Nostalgia overload from that TMNT game the music, everything is just great...always Donny or Mike! You can get 4-5 hits in before moving on the bosses..I could probably still speedrun that game even though it's been 20 some years...
Splatterhouse 2 took me a long time to beat as a kid. I play all arcade games on my channel, but this makes me want to do some Genesis game videos.

Faith No More is the GOAT, omg if you ever get the chance to see them live, you absolutely must! I was sposda see them in Summer 2020 because they were doing a reunion tour with Korn (meh) but it was cancelled due to covid (boo!). If you ever want to listen to an amazing album, listen to either King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime or Angel Dust. Both are just fantastic.

Sheena is weak but fast. Most balanced is Ray. Browny are the best choice for beginners. Fang for professionals.

yess part 2 is here too :D I'm about to watch your battlemania stream now :D BTW, I know you got bloodstained curse of the moon, but did you ever get ritual of the night? I'm not sure since it's pretty much a fullon metroidvania. I did and loved it, and a couple of days ago the game got a major update, for free, and that is classic mode for bloodstained ritual of the night... its as classic castlevania as anything can be, even castlevania itself. Check out any playthrough because you'd totally love it...seems like koji igarashi has heard all your metroidvania dislikers' plea haha ;)
yay! And Mike and I BRIELY tried Ritual of the Night and we weren't that into it. However, it was before I played SOTN so maybe I'd enjoy it more now. I did like the Curse of the Moon games though, especially the first one :)

Keep at it. Keep doing what you do & love. The more you play, the better you get and before you know it, you'll be running through what you once thought were the toughest games without breaking a sweat. Especially with playing retro games. The new gen games are mostly pathetically easy, so once those become retro, you can murder through those as well! Stay awesome and kick ass!

@@ErinPlaysExtras I had the same experience. Then i watched someone play it and there's like 3 or 4 secret areas right in the first level. Also, if you crouch, you can move the camera around to see beyond the screen.
Have you checked out Mega Turrican? It's fun for a few levels.

Is hard to tell if you're using Component cables or SCART because of the great video quality of the gameplay, as for the gameplays themselves... I'm happy about them as well, again, some of those games I didn't know about them or completely forgot about their existance, hopefully you play Space Invaders '91 and Growl next time.
Also... Alien Soldier is a great game... but is one of those games you REALLY need to practice them if you want to get further right from the get-go, Gunstar Heroes is a little bit more friendly in that regard (as long as you don't play it on Hard or Expert).
EDIT: I forgot you played Hokuto No Ken (yup, Last Battle is the localized version of the game, and you played the localized version as well), the game is hard as balls as you only have 1 live for the ENTIRE game (I still have a personal vendetta against this game as back in the day I managed to get to the end but I got a bad RNG against the boss and lost at the finish line, and that was about 10 years ago and I haven't played the game since then), and a suggestion for the next time you give Alien Soldier a try, put it on Supereasy (you don't need to deal with limited continues and you can use passwords to take a break whenever you need it... just a word of advise, the extended life you get is lost and you have to pick them up again as the game resets your life meter to the default value).
I use SCART. And cool, I didn’t know there was a “super easy” option for Alien Soldier. It’s insane but I’d like to play it some more.
@@ErinPlaysExtras Thanks, seems like I have the right gear after all, with that confirmed, I think I'll re-do some of my old playthroughs that could easily look better that way (Batman and Robin, Alien Soldier and Gunstar Heroes comes into my mind), as I did some with a crappy upscaler and composite cables, I have to get a SCART or Component cable for my SNES as well, I upgraded my old composite cables to S-video but I still can get better picture (but for my N64 without modding, S-video is the best picture quality I can get).

I forgot about this Jurassic Park...I think my fave is the SNES sidescroller but I still need to beat the top down one well top down/fps it takes forever though and no saving...this Jurassic Park looks different I remember a triceratops on the first stage...and then the raft stage and the shitty jumping from the sewer looking pipes...but not this...maybe SNES also?
Liked blades of vengeance it was bloody hard though. First time i played it was on a bootleg disc for dreamcast. You could tell it was a bootled cause the other genesis games sound was off too. Playing strider was like playing a fruit machine. Know this is off topic but could you get mike to do a playthrough of the recent peach world hack for super mario world he likes mario games and i love his commentary on stuff hes awesome. Thanks for both your channels sorry if my punctuation is off im getting hammered listening to nirvana.

Robocop is so tragic the first movie was the only one that was really good, 2 was almost good but then they stuck in the reprograming subplot and turned him into a joke for almost half the movie. After that it descended into shit fast. Terminator got 2 good movies the second of which to this day is still considered one of the best sci fi movies ever made.

When I do variety streams like this, I go through them quickly and take note of the games I’d like to go back to. I’m not going to love all of them, most likely.

Harry Toeface I could forgive Erin’s abrasive personality if I believed she actually had an interest in video hands and not just being a TH-camr and not getting an actual job like a grown up.
The way she ineptly button mashed the timeless and amazing Strider for about 5 minutes, utterly failing to grasp in any way how it should be played or appreciate the sublime art direction and soundtrack.
She approaches games like a restless overstimulated millennial. She does not have an interest in games. I can tell.
She can play a shot-em- up, quite well. But she whines and fumbles her way through a string of games with no understanding of what she is looking at.
Yeah Race Drivin is crap. It was crap then. But at least try a bit. There is fun to be had. Not much. But she can’t play it right away. So after 3 minutes of no success, it’s vast aside and labelled ‘trash’. A groundbreaking game at the time and not trash.
It’s very sad to see an immature little girl, ploughing through a lauded list of hands and giving then 1 minute to be easy to play and impress and reward her. But they are old and clunky and unusual or a bit rough around the edges. So.. “I just cyaaaant!” she whines, as if she’s being forced at gunpoint and I’m somehow trying to ruin her day by making her.
This whining little pampered and simple minded entitled child is in a state of arrested development.
She doesn’t like games. She’s only pretending so she can have a TH-cam channel. So she can tell people she meets she has a retro gaming channel.
But she has no interest or appreciation of her subject.
