      Ross Campbell I just thought of a question nobody is really talking about...what attracts me to this pedal is the “always on” (compressor into limiter studio trick), however, wouldn’t this be best achieved with two separate Cali76 pedals? Theoretically, I think you’d want the compression (slow attack/fast release) in the beginning of my signal chain and the limiter ) fast attack/slow release) after all my pedals or in the effects loop of my amp. If the cali76 stacked edition had a way to route the first stage of compression out to my pedalboard and then back into the second (limiter) stage of compression of the cali76 stacked, then it would achieve this in a single pedal. Perhaps, I’m overthinking it, or this feature is being marketed to people who don’t use a large pedalboard. I don’t mind having to buy two of earlier models of the cali76, I just want to be informed about that decision before I pull the trigger on it. Thanks again, for your time and effort!

    Owned the Cali76 Compact Deluxe - frankly, I didn’t adjust things too much anyway so all the extra control may go unused. Especially the attack & release knobs. Having/paying for 2 of em’ seems wasteful unless you’re really gonna use em. Gotta remember, compressors are sorta subtle so controls on them are even more subtle. My Compact Deluxe was more a set it and forget it affair.

      I had the same comment. Origin Effects doesn't make the distinction between the new Stacked and SlideRig V2 pedals very clear. Seems like you can get everything the SlideRig V2 has plus more individual control. This video make the choice obvious.

    I have needed a sustainer compressor in my rig since I was single digit years old because my dad told me that was one of the secrets to perfect tone and making your solos sound good. When I learned what outboard gear was I really wanted to just go plus ultra and put a uad and or neve compressor in a rack with a couple tube heads, but then I heard this thing. Still would be kind of cool to have a uad compressor live.

    Btw, the only other similar dual compressor I've seen is the TC Electronics NovaDynamics dual pedal. Bo longer being built, but they had 2 channels that could be run through parallel or stacked, and each compressor was selectable between Stompbox(high squish), Studio(similar? to Cali76) and Limiter modes. Great pedal, but the build quality was not quite as solid and the sound was definitely not Origin Effects level.

    I looked at the cali76 a year ago when I was looking to upgrade from a diamond clone I used for years. I ended up getting the Empress mkii since I'd played one of the older models and loved it and i couldnt get ahold of a cali76 to demo. I couldnt possibly be happier with the Empress Mkii and Empress's customer service. The Empress was exactly what I was looking for. But I'd still love to try a cali76 eventually. I think I'd prefer the Empress for a few reasons the metering being a big one. The Empress metering is pretty much as good as it gets and with compression that's a huge help. Hell I'm sure they are both compressors that are easy to love. The Empress $249 price tag I loved more than the Cali76's though lol.

    Hey Ross, I live in a pretty remote area and there are no top shelf stores that would carry this compressor. You pretty much answered my questions in this demo except for one. If I were to turn the gold knob about 3/4 on would that give me enough clean sustain (I would use a humbucker) to switch from funk style rhythm to a pedal steelish long clean sustain (don't ask, it happens, lol) on the fly without having to reset the unit ? I just don't want to order something and have to send it back.

    Hey Ross, I like to play some long sustained pedal steel/volume swell things in addition to more traditional stuff. I watched Shawn Tubbs demo the slide rig and it performed well. My question is if I run this pedal with a fair amount of dry in the 1st stage and mix quite a bit onto the 2nd allowing for a LOT of sustain (pedal steel), will this pedal still operate "always on" adequately if I choke the notes off as in funk rhythm ?

    Hi with it running on 9 volts as well as 18 volts can it run anything in between like on a variable supply or even just a fixed 12 volt Supply. If there is no switch to select the supply I dont see why dont could you throw some light on this
    Cheers

    • @LTJR.
      @LTJR. 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, The unit will run on anything from 9 to 18 V supplied to it. It doesn’t need a switch, an analogy may be a gas pedal already on at nine and then you keep pressing it up until 18? Maybe not the best analogy but? Truth is it’ll probably run on 7-8 to 19 or 20 V but you wouldn’t want to push that unless you knew for sure capabilities of the circuit. Many of our pedals are like that, I think some of the Fulltone full drives are like that with a 9 to either 12 or 18v capability, With some people saying they sound nice and grinding at 5 V. I know this is an older thread but I’m just offering it for I guess, completeness?
