I think it depends on who sets up their sound equipment. I've heard some AMAZING live performances from them but sometimes I feel like they get the sounds wrong on an engineering level.
You can’t take one excerpt of one live show and assume they always suck it’s usually the sound people, also he may have been playing for an hour straight at this point, might be a little drunk at this point who knows
I'm generally VERY critical of all live acts, and even I saw nothing wrong with this performance. You have to understand that when moving around on a live stage, you cannot control all sound reverberation like you can in a studio sound booth (or even any room, for that matter). To overcome this at live venues, they just amplify the hell out of the audio, which sometimes does help, but it also can insert a lot of white noise and reverberative feedback, and often lowers the signal fidelity. Also, you have a whole other set of complications to consider in terms of the capability of the camera and/or microphone used to record this video, which is obviously not a direct-line audio feed, and is likely compressing the signal further. All things considered, I don't see much wrong with this performance at all. I would rather see a 'true' performance than some pop singer who's running around on stage (obviously out of breath) but still sounding great because they are using effects and running their raw audio through a mixer. Brock does use effects (the use of an old school ribbon mic in 'Missed the Boat' etc), but in the opposite direction, often INTENTIONALLY decreasing signal bandwidth. I respect that a lot, because Brock "breaks the mold" when it comes to genre and effects. You'll never see Issac 'cheating' with a sound technician backstage.
Underrated song on an Underrated album.
I love the note he adds on "here's the clue"
Even though the sound isn’t as powerful here it’s still amazing, arguably even better because of it.
I was just thinking about how the choppiness adds a level of grit that feels appropriate ❤️ amazing song
For a horrific second I thought this was Modest Mouse's debut on The View!
Meh, that would be fantastic. Expose the Karens to some culture.
