Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is starting to steer toward Frontier territory. I mean, we have Espinas and the subspecies now, and we're getting skills that gradually favor status. We have Foray, which boosts your raw and affinity when attacking a monster that is poisoned, paralyzed or inflicted with an elemental blight (yes, we can do that now); Buildup Boost, which increases the damage of attacks that actually deal status damage by 10-20%; and Status Trigger, which makes every hit that can inflict status do so for several seconds after dodging through an enemy attack! I'm a year late but hopefully this helps. Short answer is frontier switchaxe has a guard point. I have way too many questions about Frontier that could probably only be answered if the game got localized and I actually got to play it. It's definitely a switch axe. I can topple it twice each phase using meta fire/ice weapons, but less than that should at least be viable. It tells you when your fire or ice is ineffective but it never tells you that dragon barely does any element to him at all. IIRC the hunter notes show it as two star but might be misremembering.
