What a beautiful location and Luca your Mamma e Bella! Sara you are so right about learning at least the basic phrases when visiting a foreign country. I took two years of French when in high school but it was about 25 years later when I finally visited France however I still remembered the basics and by the time I left France I had remembered a lot. Now I am learning Italian because the next time I go to Italy I want to be fluent. Since my primary language is Spanish, both Italian and French do have some similarities so I can understand better than I speak however it does get confusing. In both countries, France and Italy the locals really appreciated that I had some basic knowledge of their language and I had better experiences.

I wonder if you can get genuine, scrumptious gelato in Menton; if not I cannot visit:) Often there are foreign regulations that prevent gelato from having the right temperature, butterfat level, or amount of air. Probably because of this I have had terrible gelato outside Italian borders, but I guess French ice cream is not such a bad substitute.
