I already uploaded the english version way back in 2013, so i decided to do a video using the Japanese version of the song.
Also i guess this is sort of a 100 subscriber video.

Back when Kingdom Hearts was a simple tale about a boy trying to reunite with his best friend and crush while exploring new worlds and defending them from darkness.

I've searched this song up so many times since 2005, but this is 100% _the definitive_ experience. Another Side, Another Story was a sensory marvel that allowed you -- _encouraged you_ -- to be confused, but drink in the lonely and sensual imagery. The extended cut of Planitb's remix draws on that same silence and patience.
This was always the legacy of Kingdom Hearts in _my_ heart; not the convoluted plot at the end, but the quiet wonder of watching bodies and hearts in motion.

I first heard this song on Birth by Sleep because my first KH game was actually KH2. It was an experience to see that this song was actually adored even before then.

@@gumi6751 Nah, I was still young when I first played it so I didn't care much about the story back then, just the gameplay.
My best childhood friend gave me a mix CD and the first thing on there was this song. That was my introduction to Utada and then I got my official introduction to KH with the original Chain of Memories on GBA. Months later I cracked and bought a PS2 along with a Greatest Hits copy of the original game. My life was never the same xD

If you play FF X you'll see that KH1 took so many thing of it, also the ending of KH 2 is too similar of X-2 ending (Sora and Kairi said the same thing that Tidus and Yuna)

意図的にEDのリミックス版をOPに起用する事で、

The Japanese version is surprising a lot more impactful from the English version.
It's not surprising, the English version had to have nonsensical lyrics jammed in in order to fit the melody and overall meaning of the song.
Even still they had to change a pretty major verse of the song.
the english version also lacks back up vocals that makes the harmony feel a little flat.
Hikari and Sanctuary are great songs

The Japanese is always first, then an English version is made.

I can't believe that i was 5 years old when i played KH1 for the first time in my brother's PS2 (i'm still have the game) and then i play the PS3 version 3 years ago (2017) and now with almost 19 i still play this game (in PS4) and i remember everything like where are the treasures, Trios and somes items but i can't remember was i was doing in 2011 🤣🤣🤣

I'm pretty much the same as you but I played KH1 when I was 3 or 4. My brother is the one that got the game but he moved out by the time I played it. I've played all the games now. Love the series, KH1 and KH2 are super nostalgic for me.
@@Zephhi a friend of my brother borrow us his KH (we already have COM in GBA) but we had to give it back, in my brother's 10th or 11th birthday my parents bought KH1 platinum (we still have it and the last time i play it was 8 years ago and the game only crash in the ending in the last words when Sora and company chases Pluto)
Kingdom Hearts was one of the very first "true" video games I remember ever seeing (up to that point I just played Nick flash games) and it was while watching my cousin play on his PlayStation 2.
About 9 years later, I'm now 15 and I've finally started playing Kingdom Hearts for myself thanks to Xbox Game Pass. I finished all parts of Birth By Sleep on Critical a few days ago and am now going through KH1 on Proud.
@@MineBro56 KH is a special franchise to me, now i prefer Final Fantasy over KH but i have too many feelings with this franchise.
I'll never forget the first time that i saw the ending of KH 1. Was my brother a friend of him and i (i was 8 years old so it must be 11 years ago) it was an evening of summer the month was July.
Also my brother beat KH COM GBA version, a month or a week before KH1 and it took him 5 years 😂😂 we still have the game since 2004 and he took 5 years to beat it for the first time... now the games only tooks 1 or 2 weaks (i miss the old days)

I really wish you could have the Japanese versions of her songs in the US releases of the games, the Japanese lyrics just fit the music better...
my thoughts exactly. disappointed they didnt use the japanese music for final mix 1.5/2.5.. the english version is great, but the japanese has more depth of emotion to the vocals, not just a focus on intricate words.
Thus spake two people fluent in both languages, and are thus well qualified to argue such a thing

Yay the Japanese version!
Utada wrote both the Japanese and English version. The Japanese version came first as it was a part of one of her studio albums. Square asked if they could use the song for their game and also asked if she could rewrite the song in English for global release.
Thanks for setting me straight. I misinterpreted her words in an interview about the song (which led me here in the first place).
SO many people think Hikari and Passion were written for KH, they weren't.

They all planned it long before the first game.

nah. just good writing. anything that appeared in 1 that was expanded upon in later games was just lucky writing that they could use efficiantly to really strengthen the plot
it is, but hte enjoyment is being there and playing through each area, the game was literally started bc a Disney studio was directly below a square Enix studio, and one of the guys in the disney office was friends with a guy upstairs
