I really loved the close up look at every spearman across every age, it really shows the details well. I love how even the civ defining features can be found back on something as humble as a dark age spearman. My favorite gotta be the Khan running in the back at 18:27

This video reminds me that Relic needs to give us Free Camera in "ALL" replays not just behind a mod. Let me rewatch my armies clash from the glory of the battlefield!
if you choose the melee Jeanne upgrade path, at level 4 she gains access to the 'Strength of Heaven' ultimate ability: ''Jeanne chooses a unit to bless, which gains +300 hit points, +4 melee and ranged armor, +300% damage, and cannot be converted. Jeanne may only bless one unit at a time.''
Great video bro, appreciate it. But if we test spearmen from each civ to fight each other in fair amount of resources + buffs. Which one do you think would be best spearmen in the game?
hmm good idea, perhaps a follow up video later down the line! If I had to guess, I would say the Japanese, they have much greater non-cavalry damage than the other civs.
these are the *correct* colours for each civ 😂 I wonder if others have some different choices, these ones just feel 'right' to me. thanks for the comment!
oh I'm not actually sure how the buffs work with allies. Monks will heal ally units, but whether other bonuses apply I'm not sure. will have to take a look at that! Maybe come up with some strong synergies...
ah I understand, they have the 'Saint's blessing' ability by default, so I would assume that yes, they would get the buff if the Mongols had a warrior monk from the palace 👍🏻 I bet there must be a ton of small interactions like this that I haven't even though about...
I'm not realy sure how it works. but I think Japanese are getting bonus dmg when a buddhist monk is charging a conversion. it's very unique but still a buff for them

Very good video. I don't play all civs but I assume that you have covered everything. Very pleasant to watch.
Chinese spearmen also get +20% attack speed when a nearby dynasty unit dies with the imperial landmark

These are almost the same colors i use when playng the civilizations aswell.

You neglected the other benefit of the Byzantine Limitanei is that they apply to the Palatine School’s free units. So you can field a ton more of them
that's a very good point, like a 3 for 2 deal on spearmen!
Do Mongol units get the Rus warrior monk buffs too if Mongol builds the Khaganate Palace and they fight next to K-palace warrior monks?

yup! I think archers will be next, but MAA and horseman are high priority too

ah yes you're right, the technology 'Nehan' let's them buff allies movespeed by 25% when they convert an enemy. Good catch!

Maybe 15 years later I'll be able to afford a a 4k monitor and a pc strong enough for that..
it's not too intensive if you have some settings turned down and still looks great @ 1080p!

wait, there's stat differences between the SAME units between civs?!
YUP! and quite a lot of them too, damage, health, armour and other bonuses vary quite a lot 😬
Usually these stat differences are on civ specific bonusses and unique techs. But you should look out for the unique units, those can vary the most.
So who has the best spearmen?
I believe:
1) Jean d Arc
2) Order of Dragon
3)?
technically Jeanne d'Arc but she can only have 1 aha
OOTD, Japan, Abbasid (when near a camel), Limitanei and Donso are all very good too.
