Interesting and enlightening! I was always thinking about pine wood as a substrate, this is something the mushroom growers need , the updated information , far from old misinformation from old books and forums ❤❤
Hey brotha, I'm just wondering if you're still growing on these pine pellets and if so how is it going? I'm just a couple hours from you and trying to get masters mix is ridiculous when we're talking shipping etc.
Hey, thank you for all the information. I'm currently building out my grow room and am wondering what you used to cover your walls. From the video it looks like some kind of plastic sheeting? Good luck with you expansion!
What about the toxicity? I heard that pine might transfer some of its toxins to mushroom and it might be not the best idea to eat them. Not sure if its legit tho
I've heard similar things but havent noticed anything different about flavor and no complaints. Growers better than I have done it before. I am of the belief the pelleted pine works and possibly not fresh pine. Perhaps the pelletizing process makes it work.
Have you tried cutting your hardwood with pine to see if you can recover some of that consistency? And are you going masters or bran? Do you use gypsum?
I wonder if you had some hardwood pellets leftover and used about 3/4 of the pine to about 1/4 worth of hardwood for the wood part..I know it will work, jsut how much better..keep grinding
@cactushatmushrooms3677 that's interesting..probably makes sense like how wild grown lions and turkeys have more beneficial compounds vs homegrown,or at least that was my understanding
We grow on "masters mix" to the supplement in the substrate is soy hulls. Pressure cooking is for spawn and various media, we use atmospheric sterilizing for substrate. This is standard across the industry.
just seeing this! thanks for the shout out, we're still rocking the pine

Panda Film. Can be purchased on Amazon.
$800 for a pallet is crazy. $270 in MA for 1 ton hardwood
I'm going to buy some pine and try it out. Looking forward to the next video on the tent. Lion King!

Good to see ya! Great content.
We’ve always grown on pine pellets. They work great
Awesome. I was always scared to try it since hardwood is preferred. But with prices and supply issues, I'm glad I gave it a shot.

Masters mix. Cutting the pellets may be a great idea

A while back I received a pallet of blended pellets. So it had both hard and soft wood. Those were the best results I've ever had.

Do you supplement and/or pressure cook?

Thanks for the walk through talk through!
You are using the master mix?
Yea good to see you! Glad your doing good!
Is the flavor of the mushrooms affected by which material it grows in?
I havent noticed a difference and havent been told by my accounts its different.
hey. have you tried straw pellet ?
I have not. Mossy Creek Mushrooms does it all the time however
Can you mix pellet type?
The best results I've ever had were from blended pellets. I haven't tried to recreate it. I think it may be a great idea for whoever tries it.
@@cactushatmushrooms3677 I most def will be trying this… I am a bit of a mad professor - with a hippie chick spin 😎
