Sorry for being blunt, but I genuinely think that the subtle flavour of asparagus which my European friends vouch about is lost on me. I strongly think that we, the SE Asians are exposed to so much strong spices since our childhood, we've got our taste buds and olfactory nerves damaged or tuned to higher scales. I'm in England for so many years yet I still find the English traditional food bland. The truth is, my abused taste buds still refuse to recognize the true taste/ flavour of the vegetables or meat till date.
