Coneflowers are one of the best work horses in the garden, they give so much for so little... they're low maintenance, drought tolerant plants that pollinators and finches love, they reseed moderately and they're so pretty in the garden... what's not to love!🥰

Hi Mary! It is beautiful! The variety I have I bought at a local nursery, its by Monrovia. So pretty! Like a creamsicle or slice of cantelope. Its my husbands favorite, and he doesn't care for flowers much. But he likes Orange flowers! I hope you find one!

One of my favourites! I fell in love with them when we moved here as there were several amazing patches of it already in the garden. They just kept going year after year with zero inputs from me, which, in those early years with 2 toddlers under foot, made it a winner from the start♥

Absolutely my favorite!I Doing winter sowing of the White Swan and also cold stratifying it in my refrigerator to grow under grow lights to plant out in the spring. Love the Green Twister. Every year I add more. Yours look beautiful!

Come flowers are so beautiful, so many colors. Have a garden center here my mind spins at how many different ones they have of course you want them all. 😊 And if deer are a problem don’t miss a spraying ask me how I know. 😉
Hi Terri, So true, they are such a beautiful perrenial, and an absolute must in my opinion in any sunny garden. The deer torment me as well. I feel your pain! I have to Spray like clockwork Spring thru Fall every 7-10 days. I have a reminder on my phone and all!

I bought a pack of Mellow Yellow echinacea from Baker Creek, only 25 seeds per pack. So i put in a milk jug outdoors in late January. In Ohio. In late March i decided to bring them in to speed up germination. They sprouted and are growing well, but slowly, under lights. I will put them in the garden when they are big. Probably not until the middle of June.
Those are such a pretty yellow variety. Hope they continue to do well for you! 🌱
The only coneflower I planted last year was white swan. It grew beautifully and had many gorgeous flowers. I want to plant many more this year especially those double scoop varieties...Love them. Thanks for sharing:)

Hi, I love your varieties of cornflower. I would like to know the variety with light pink color which are in front of double scoop raspberry. You could go to 2:32 for checking the plant I mentioned.
Hi there, the light pink flower behind the double scoop raspberry coneflower is called Tutti frutti apricot delight yarrow. The other bright pink coneflowers that follow are a variety called pow wow berry coneflower. Hope this helps.
The flowers are beautiful , I too have a deer problem & I thought they were deer resistant. Guess I better get the spray
Hi Margie, The purpurea from what I've read have a bit more deer resistant, but I have to say if I didn't spray regularly, I'm sure they would eat all of them in my garden. We have LOTS of deer. I have to be very consistent with spraying my garden Spring thru Fall. If I miss a spray, they know it. I really like the Invisible fence deer and rabbit:amzn.to/3XDcu1q and Bobbex works well for me too. I alternate between 2 or 3 to keep them on their toes, or "hooves"?
I am adding two plants of echinacea.. unfortunately unsure of the variety, though. I'll be surprised but that's gardening.. lolz. Thanks for the video.

I did try these by seed - no luck, so I got a few plugs from a seller on Etsy last fall and planted them. I hope they grow ok this year! Mine are the Berry color but I do love the white♥

I have 2 Echinacea plants in my garden that I bought from home depot 3 years ago and I simply love them
This year however I am starting a new variety called Paradiso from seed which I bought from Baker creek!! ,this will not only be my first perennial plant from seed but also buying seed from a US seed company !
PS: can you please share your tips and tricks, hardships, and your experience if you are growing from seed about the plant you are spot lighting

Do you find these Coneflower Hybrids come back year after year? I had read Hybrids die out after a few years, unlike the native Purple Coneflower.
That is the 64K question - so many new cultivars of echinacea that look cool but which ones actually really reliably last? The Mt Cuba center reported a study in 2020 or 2021- the report is online. That should give you a head start. In there, you can learn more about the ones that you are likely to see - Kismet, Sombrero, Pow Wow and Double Scoop - for example.

Coneflower is in our top five foresure. Easy to grow and last forever, kinda like Zinnias:)

I am in zone 6b and have not had any success getting my coneflowers to come back. Would you be able to post pictures of the seedlings? I have success with foxglove and hollyhock so perhaps I am pulling out the seedlings as weeds?
I love cone flowers - but the couple I bought died. I think I might have overwatered them. Do they need fertilizer ? I am going to try again this year 💪🏻
Hi Rosie, I never fertilize my coneflowers. If you overwatered, that could have been the issue. They do not like to sit in wet soil. Sunny spot, with well draining soil. Let them dry out between waterings. And once they're established they are very drought and heat tolerant.

Hi Emma! While they love them all, my echinacea purpurea is always buzzing with a ton of bees 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 probably the moat of all of the Echinacea in my garden.

Hi Carmela, While some might be listed as deer resistant, in my garden, they do tend to eat them if I don't protect the plants with a repellent.

Does anyone else have trouble with something eating the petals?? Help!
Hi Brittany, I do occasionally have some blooms that look like the petals got munched on, in fact in this video you can see it on the green twister echinacea. I believe it could be earwigs. It doesn't happen on all the blooms, i'll just see it on one here and there. The reason I think its earrwigs is because I notice something similar with my dahlias, and I always see earwigs near the dahlias.
