- Show of Hands & the Spooky Mens Chorale - Don't You Want Me
Shrewsbury Folk Festival, 2009 Official festival video
Show of Hands played the main stage of the Shrewsbury Folk Festival on Sunday 29th August 2009 (they played immediately after the Spooky Men).
Earlier in the day Show of Hands and Spooky Men spent a little time in a smaller marquee on the festival site rehearsing this cover of The Human League's 'Don't You Want Me'. A few people had seen the rehearsal, but were sworn to secrecy.
The secret was kept, and a packed out main marquee of 2,500+ people saw a real one off performance!
This footage comes from the feed that was shown on the screens in the main tent. More: www.shrewsburyfolkfestival.co.uk.

Wonderful. So great to see Rick so enjoying playing with so many talented musicians.
It was an absolutely amazing concert, a pleasure to watch live.
Love Show Of Hand and The Spooky Men and this was one of the best nights of my life so far. They were so funny all together. Love it, love them thanks for uploading and bring back the great memory
Love it! Love Show of Hands and then the Spooky Men! OMG, pure heaven! I didn't recognise the song at first but then i couldn't stop myself from singing along! :D Thanks for the upload! :D xx
Saw this band for the first time at the Cambridge Folk Festival.. and at some points was crying with laughter!!
We were in the front row of the mosh pit for this - I don't think I have ever heard louder crowd participation than this - the recording doesn't really capture the volume or the atmosphere..
Omg.... this is like a mind meltdown spooky men + show of hands! AHHHHH
I was there. Great Concert and Festival
Love it... Love the Spooky Mean..... x
Excellent. Great version.
Great loved it - love the Spooky Men
BLOODY PERFECT !!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant!
I don't think I've ever enjoyed this song quite as much as in this version.
Completely fabulous!!! =D
Miranda nails it - as usual
Truly wonderful
Excellent work. Not many bad songs about it's just the arrangement and the singer. I refer you to Richard Thompson and "A Thousand tears of Pop Music".
im all goosebumbs!
brilliant to finally see the whole song, the feed was a bit flaky at my end :D thanks
Brilliant
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really good!
I think I'm in love with Miranda Sykes! xx
The main singer's voice is love
Amazing!!
Sublime
Dem memories!
Where can I get a copy of this - and if I can’t, why not!! Nine years on and I still regularly listen to it!
Absolutely superb!
But i do SO wish we could have fewer cameras so that there's less cutting from angle to angle!
It adds nothing to a fantastic performance which just needs to be filmed.
Simply Hilarious !!!!!!
still good.
I hated the original of this, but now I've heard SoH and the Spooky Men's Chorale version, I'm going to spend the afternoon learning it on Mandocello. :-)
Hilarious! This is the song I hated most from the 80's, couldn't bear it, but this version is brilliant.
Aye!!!
Saw the sppokies and sing with an adopted spook, Chris Samuel. Wish you would have let them sing more
If you love this I suggest you look up the work of Run C&W, who took classic Soul songs and re-worked them as bluegrass.
"a song from Yorkshire" 😂😂😂
How is Miranda Syke's so... effortless?
Who is the Minx at 2.22? I SAY! DING DONG!
