    Previous Video: • Breaking Down KickGeni...
    Ask and you shall receive. After asking you which shooter you wanted to see broken down next at the end of my previous video, the overwhelming response given was "Trae Young." Rightfully so. He is the best shooter in the entire 2018 draft class, and he also happens to be the best distributor too. Not many players in the history of the NCAA have even come close to averaging 30 points and 10 assist per game, but Young is almost on pace to do so this season. He's even led an underpowered Oklahoma Sooners squad to an 11-1 record, a likely top 10 ranking, and a berth to the NCAA championship. March Madness here we come. Oh, and by the way, here is the much requested breakdown.

    Thsnk you for this video. I have been struggling shooting from deep even though I have a silky smooth mid range jumper that feels effort less within the HS 3 pt line. One foot past it and my form and confidence fall apart. As you break Traes, Stephs, and the other nba players shots you feature and distinguish between the 2 techniques (2 step vs 1 step) I have been able to fix my 3 pt shot. The detail explanations are pure gold. Tricky part is to initiate the movement in the correct sequence and make it repeatable in various situations. A huge THANK YOU to you ScotShot!!!

    People compare him to Steph Curry because of his style of play and rightfully so, but if you look closely, you'll see that he even copies many of Curry's mannerisms as well: He chews his mouth guard like curry, has the same free throw routine, taps his chest and points to god after every made basket, and even tweets "lock in" before every game. I truly wonder what Steph's initial impression of him is gonna be lol.

    Man your videos are amazing. You’ve truly replaced pro shot and maybe even surpassed them. One thing I do want to mention is that the turn is also used for alignment and to keep the shot straight. Take a look at pro shot’s “one eyed shooting” videos. It explains it in more depth. Great content though!

    Hello Scot Shot,
    Big Fan by the way I have a question on the concept of relaxed hands durring the shot but also more importantly the concept of what is commonly referred to as T thumbs in. The hand position of basketball. I see that certain shooters use this technique can you go into depth over this concept. Please and Thank You for your in depth and professional analysis of shooting.

      His off-hand touches the ball very lightly. Sometimes, his ring finger or pinky isn't even touching the ball (as you can see from this video's thumbnail). I think this is his way of minimizing the off-hand / guide hand's influence on the ball to remain consistent.

    @ScotShotBasketball In your Kyle Kuzma shooting breakdown, isn't Kyle's wrist also on the inside vertical plane, or basically angled inwards to be near his shooting eye (source: th-cam.com/video/Rz1NlO82Uq4/w-d-xo.html)? Yet you mentioned that Kyle's shooting form is close to being vertically aligned. Or do you mean that Trae's wrist and forearm is less vertically aligned compared to shooters like Kyle and Klay? Would appreciate your comments on this

    Learning his shooting form isn’t advised. It may work for Trey, but Biomechanics wise it’s a rather poor shot as it places a lot of stress on the shoulders and elbows. A good example of the flaw of his shooting form was during 3 point contest where he became visibly tired and almost ran out of time. Almost all the power of his shooting comes from his arms.

    • @Kjenthegoat
      @Kjenthegoat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      More nervousness than his actual shooting form. He has an effortless release, which means he can shoot it all day and night and not get worn out.

    • @rahatchoudhury175
      @rahatchoudhury175 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      King Phil not necessarily it’s a palm rotation thing. In Curry’s case, whenever he catches the ball both his hands are on the sides for half a second; almost looking like a granny shot. But then he rotates his shooting hand palm to be mostly underneath the hall and then releases with a hard wrist flick and minor thumb flick.

    • @kingphil4073
      @kingphil4073 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rahat Choudhury lmao no he has one of the softest releases in the league. His fingers are lose ( I don't know how to write this word English is not my main language.) so they move a lot and they are never positioned the same way (they would be the exact same way every time if he flicked hard) his hands are just relaxed. Try to shoot with hard wrist flick and you 'll shoot like DJ

    • @ther5650

      It all depends on what you define range as.
      In terms of percentage curry is better, but lilard can shoot from just as far out as curry and just as effortless.

      In that vid he literally dips and shoots from half court and his stroke looks Exsacly the same as when he takes a shot 20 feet closer to the hoop.
      This is one of the craziest range shots I've ever seen.
      Also I think trae young deserves more credit for hitting those shots cause I've never seen any player(steph and lilard included) take and make shots from this deep in college. It's so fun to watch.

      But the thing is Curry’s percentage from deep is great , you can’t have range and not knock down shots , you feel me ?

      Sure. But I just hate when poeple pretend curry can shoot from so much farther than anyone else cause it's not true.

      Scot Shot Basketball lillard shot is not effortless..he uses a lot of hand strength..thats why hes more clutch..hes able to control his shot better.

    Man, sorry but that college line is a mid range jumper. What about Dame, or Pg13? They have much better range than this guy. He cant be the player with best range behind steph...
