The best part was her direct supervisor was also there and saw this entire exchange. How she was not taken outside and corrected on the spot is a complete lack of supervision. If there is some kind of code about Roof accessories or other things similar, than she should had worked with the store and not become a tyrant. At my store we were asked to move our flag because it was to close to the Propane, with a suggestion where we could re-locate it. So even if she may had been right about some SAFETY CODE, her ability to explain, present and work through a satisfactory resolution failed. CODES are for our safety and are not meant to be used as some authorities power trip. Where's the training on human interaction?

For those of you late to the video, this happened in 2018. That "woman" and her supervisor who was also present and watched the whole thing unfold and not once stepped in was suspended. The "woman" for 10 days and her supervisor for 5 days. They then returned to work like nothing happened. The sad truth is that it is next to impossible for a government worker to lose their job. That's why she did what she did without hesitation. She knew she would never be fired. And you can bet the farm that she is not the only ones in government jobs who thinks like this.
Everyone makes mistakes. The real question is, was she sincere? And that does seem to be the case, because she's had no complaints at all since then. I don't believe someone should have their career destroyed over a single bad day where ultimately no one was harmed.
Until they come upon me. If I'm in the right, I have no problem telling an inspector, police officer, the president or who ever what I think and how I will do what I want..... if I'm in the right. Your job or badge means nothing to me, how you treat me and others means everything to how I treat you. My wife learned that when we called the cops on a guy up the street and the cop didn't want to do anything.... until I took charge of the cop, and it was handled within a few minutes.

The best part was her direct supervisor was also there and saw this entire exchange. How she was not taken outside and corrected on the spot is a complete lack of supervision. Both of them should be fired immediately. No one has the right to downplay or criticize anyone who has served this county in her armed forces.

The sensationalist reporting suggests the City of Jacksonville hates America. You'd think, rather than show viewers a piece of paper standing in for the citation itself, which you can't even make out, they could have explained the ordinance in a little detail.

I've read a ton of these comments and replies and for once I read a comment with a reply that made sense, while still horribly screwed up and wrong, and the people still responded with an intelligent and respectful comment in return!!! I'm definitely not in charge of handing out awards but I always come to laugh at the morons because I have 4 little girls, I'm a "mostly" stay at home mom - with a 15 hour a week part time job to get me out of the house (although I graduated high school and have some college under my belt), keep the house up for my husband, play the soccer mom (meaning I volunteer at their school when I can), I do all of my 2 1/2 year old's preschool myself, I do the grocery shopping and cooking, and all that. So, I'm a family obsessed nobody. However, I am highly impressed with y'all! For once a freaking intelligent conversation without insult!

I dont usually advocate for someone losing their job for a mistake, or bad judgement.... however, this is way beyond both, AND to argue and antagonize a customer, and a wounded Vet to boot, is a one way ticket to the unemployment line post haste. Totally unacceptable behavior.

I always laugh with some disdain when someone that never served their country tell a Veteran that their service didn’t matter. I’ve been told a couple of times this and my response has always been that I made sacrifices to serve our country; what sacrifices have you made for this country? Usually ends up with them walking away yelling profanity, but it’s truly amazing how people that have never served are usually so quick to call out Veterans like we’re privileged or entitled in some way when it’s really them.
Not a single American soldier has died for my freedom. Not one. If you didn't benefit from your time in the military, you don't get to use me as your excuse for making a poor decision. If you did benefit, I don't owe you sh!t, including respect. Deal with it.

Seems like the reporter should have checked the statutes to see if the flags are in violation of the statutes. If so perhaps they need to change the statute to avoid this in the future.

As a Veteran I see miss use of her authority that she represents as inexcusable. If there is some kind of code about Roof accessories or other things similar, than she should had worked with the store and not become a tyrant. At my store we were asked to move our flag because it was to close to the Propane, with a suggestion where we could re-locate it. So even if she may had been right about some SAFETY CODE, her ability to explain, present and work through a satisfactory resolution failed. CODES are for our safety and are not meant to be used as some authorities power trip. Where's the training on human interaction?

There really shouldn’t have been a discussion from the inspector, she should have just dropped off the paperwork and if there were questions tell them to go to city hall. I am a vet and an inspector. For those of you late to the video, this happened in 2018. That "woman" and her supervisor who was also present and watched the whole thing unfold and not once stepped in was suspended. The "woman" for 10 days and her supervisor for 5 days. They then returned to work like nothing happened. The sad truth is that it is next to impossible for a government worker to lose their job. That's why she did what she did without hesitation. She knew she would never be fired. And you can bet the farm that she is not the only ones in government jobs who thinks like this.
Everyone makes mistakes. The real question is, was she sincere? And that does seem to be the case, because she's had no complaints at all since then. I don't believe someone should have their career destroyed over a single bad day where ultimately no one was harmed.
Until they come upon me. If I'm in the right, I have no problem telling an inspector, police officer, the president or who ever what I think and how I will do what I want..... if I'm in the right. Your job or badge means nothing to me, how you treat me and others means everything to how I treat you. My wife learned that when we called the cops on a guy up the street and the cop didn't want to do anything.... until I took charge of the cop, and it was handled within a few minutes.
