This video reminded me that I have a similar Sony deck somewhere around here that's been waiting to be fixed for only a few decades. One-o-these-days!
I fix mine then put them away and when i haul them out again they don't work again.

Yes applying heat will free the bracket.

i have a sony 355 that needs work maybe the same principles will apply to it

The audio from the tape: far out and cosmic, man!The sound from the player: not so much.
Now, if you want to see a great machine, Check out a Technics RS 1500 US. A 1/2 track unit that has extremely high freq. response. ( Maybe 30K?)
Good for recording dog whistles.
All those cobwebs and dirt.
I already have 32`+ reel-to-reel tape recorders, so I will pass on this one. ;-)😀
32? Time to haul a few to the dump.
