It Is cheap because Is young, It Is good but has problems. For instance: you are using gmaps in horizzontal mode and you lose the effectiveness of the buttons. Simply they do not work. Its a serious gap.

what I want to know is how the screen performs in "reader mode", in full sunlight. What I would like is a transreflective screen that works in momochrome in any lighting conditions - is this it?

Unfortunately no, it does not do what transflective screens do, and especially is not a good alternative in direct sunlight

We received it with the phone, in it's own retail package, so it should be available. Might vary on the market and local distributors.

Yes, it's not an e-ink, but more of an augmented IPS panel with some extra layers.

Does it work with Samsung's S-Pen? (There are no T- Pens available in my country).

It should work with any capacitive compatible pen, minus the extra features.

@@BenchHouse Sure, but the T-Pen is an active stylus, so S-Pen would have been an alternative if it works. But it's not compatible, I've triey it out.

This phone or TCL50 SE?

Very similar specs minus the ram and the screen type. TCL 40 NXTPAPER is pretty much a TCL 50 SE with matte display.
Since I have the 40 NXTPAPER, I'd say buy this one or look for any other options (not 50 SE) because I think the screen is the only good feature of this phone.

Thanks a lot. So it works like old gameboy color screen rather than eink screen. So I won't buy it. It will strain my eyes too... Useless
