They took an extra day so they could clear Barkov and get him to Edmonton with the team. No secret here. Not hard to figure out. Also, time zone is irrelevant since gametime is still 8pm EST. As far as travel fatigue, flying sucks, but they aren't flapping their arms. It's a plane. They'll sleep, eat, and play go-fish and then they'll take a bus to the hotel. You guys have me shaking my head with this narrative.
They are part of the media. They are just upset that they couldnt interview anyone from FL so they are going to cry foul and make up any excuse as to why they should be there. Its smart by FL, they are going to protect their players from all the media questions. If you're a player you just want to play, you dont want to have to do a media tour for 2 hours the day before.

Why are they hammering on the point Florida didn’t travel or the fact that they haven’t been in a different time zone in three months? If you had the opportunity to stay at home an extra day, wouldnt you? We get it. It’s the longest distance travelled in Stanley Cup Final history. You need to make sure Barkov is a go. Florida Panthers on 18-hour rest is not as much of a question mark as Barkov-less Florida Panthers.
