the easiest way to get the engineer is finding 2 other pros to memorize a hardcore strat and spam win until you have enough (literally how i got it before the engineer tower came out)

althought accel got buff and dealing an insane amount of dps but after placing all your accel u will also need another tower to place too which an sub dps tower to help the main dps tower so accel and engi is just for each other (except u want a better and safer early game defend then dont bring engi)
theres some certain things to be considered before buying engineer. sub dps isnt really needed if u are doing fallen mode, since gladiator or golden scout works better for a better time, and gladiator can block stuns too. in hardcore it may be useful for solo hardcore. but isnt worth the time to do so just for a screenshot to flex on.
if you want accel to have sub dps use g mini or commander to boost it. engi takes far too long to grind for imo and it's really hard as well since you need to win hardcore a ton
Engineer is much more expensive but is more useful in hardcore early game. Accelerator costs less but also has expensive upgrades. Both towers perform very well against bosses and have good dps. I think that grinding for accelerator was 100x more worth it than engineer
The reason you get accell and engineer is not to beat hardcore, most of the time you get them for stuff like events or polluted wasteland, engineer is good but its price is just too expensive compared to accel, plus ive never seen strategies with engineer, ace pilot has more use than engineer, as well as aesthetically, like i wouod rather has a guy with a powerful laser canon with epik skins than just... An engineer, the concept isn't really original and the skins are either mid or terrible, tldr the only thing engineer is better than accel at is more base dps (witch accel has more just it accounts for the overcharge) and good targeting with is good, but if thats your reason for picking engineer just use minigunner even the normal one
Ok it's a great tower but for early waves it really struggles. Which means that the first one to three upgrades are not that great. But once it starts getting more upgrades it becomes decent.
I just got engi a couple weeks ago and I can't say I was very impressed. For almost a year of grinding and the pain sweat and tears that went into that 4500 gems was not worth the outcome. I was relieved the grind was over, but its not much better than accel honestly.
how it take you a year? did you like do one hardcore game a day or were you using the worst hardcore strat possible? it should only take 15 hours if your using an efficient strat that gets 300 gems/hr
I think so I use it more than I use accelerator it’s pretty good really cheap to place, can detect everything, partial stun immunity, great DPS especially level 5/6, it doesn’t just lock onto enemies like accelerator would, and on top of that it has decent AOE at max level too

Explanation Below: Lucille strat: 600 gems per hour 4500/600 = 7.5 hours. But wait,, If you were a normal human being you would realised that 600 gems per hour is only if you skip all waves, and the likelihood of finding people to play for 8 hours straight who are willing to skip all waves is very little. And by adding logical statistics we get: 1~3 Hours wait time (for maps and looking for teammates) (Considering each run takes 40 minutes. ie, 450 gems per hour) 4500/450 = 10 Hours Breaks in between (for food, bathroom, etc) = 1~2 Hours Finally it would take 12-15 hours to get engi in one day. So if you sacrifice your sleep, never touch grass, continuously rot your brain non stop for an entire day in front of your device, you can destroy your eye retina and fatigue your body to eventually get engineer.
Ok so, a few things 1. It's not a shotgun, it's a rebar launcher (which is pretty much a rifle). 2. Engineer does not have the insane DPS that person calculated, it has at most around 350 DPS if all 3 sentries and the engineer herself is firing at the same target. Plus, the way enemies spawn, you aren't gonna get super clumped up groups of them outside of breakers. 3. The grind for engi is not that bad. She costs 4500 gems, and you get 300 per HC game. If you play (and win) two hardcore games a day, you'll get her in about a week.
I mean I'd rather laze around instead of doing the same monotonous task for hours on end to be honest. Winning hardcore games is fine and all but finding the right people costs more time in my experience. Still nice comment lul
@@clen9329 yeah, that’s kind of a flaw with HC imo. It’s easy if you have a strategy, but impossible without one, and finding people capable of following one can be difficult if you aren’t in the TDS discord server (and even then, it can be kind of a gamble)
(lvl 6 engineer status) i calculated it and sentry has 120 dps every 1.2 seconds, so 3 sentry + engineer its like 405 dps, or even 450 if we count that engineer can do 90 dmg every 1.6 seconds. I dont think that need exactly 1 second
Grinding for engineer for me was a journey that I will never forget but what's worse for me was golden crates, this was a pain due to me having a F2P account, not a single robux was wasted in an account that joined TDS in 2020-2023 which basically I fought teeth and nails to get where I am here without having an "unfair advantage" over everyone (the only game pass I see as an "advantage" is the gladiator gamepass), basically hardcore towers and golden skins for a F2P player goes to show how tedious and hard it is to maintain posture and your motivation to get these expensive and time consuming towers/skins and most people aren't gonna even know how much you did to get it. Note: Golden crate grind made me realize how much patience, motivation and how perseverant I am. (I sure did "love" farming 300k coins in just 6 crates!)
I have only four golden skins, and a accelerator. I still want to grind for more golden skins but lazy to grind for engineer. It’s just a constant same thing strat to get a tower. \_[._.]_/ I rather grind for a golden crate while doing random challenges or hanging with friends then doing a stupid strat.

I don't know about anyone else, but I had a great time grinding Hardcore mode! Mostly because I had friends to help me and entertain me while we win Hardcore mode repeatedly until we get the tower. I even helped someone grind gems just because I think Hardcore mode is fun with people.
Was hella excited to get it after grinding for months and let me say, it's a complete and utter disappointment. Any advantage it might have over Accel at any point is completely offset by the flying and invis detection not being shared with the sentries and the overall DPS just not being enough. I guess it could be used when you need both Accel and Ace but can't fit both in your loadout, but then you'd be playing with a lackluster fusion of the two that can't do any of their roles particularly well.
well the engi is like a jack of all trades, master of none. its not the best early game tower, its not the best mid-late game tower, its got flying detection, its got lead detection, its got hidden detection, and it can block stuns with its sentries but its not great at killing balloons, leads, or shadow bosses. Might as well just use towers that are good at their job

Accel is prob better than engineer because Only it self engineer could target the hiddens except for sentries. Even the sentries miss out on a 55% ( call arm max commander ) and 35% ( range from dj ). The damage is on relies on the sentries. Good for crowds, good for early,mid,late
i first grinded for the accelerator and then did some strategies in order to win and make the game more fun than just losing all the time at wave 22 or more
I just find it worth getting because I could just flat out make the TF2 loadout whenever I feel like it. I paired accel and engineer together and the DPS was enough to call it a one man army as engineer played the role of gunning support killing mostly the lesser enemies and accelerator slaying walls/bosses. But of course, this just from someone who doesn't really tries to beat hardcore and mostly plays regular matches for the fun of it. Oh right the hiddens, just bring a minigunner or turret with you if you want a role for special enemy clearing. As for flying, there is ranger/ace pilot always waiting. Just utilize engineer on ground control for ordinary enemies incase swarms are affecting accelerator's performance.
Lil problem: Technically the engineer should be one of the best towers, but in practice it does kinda s**t. It cannot solo fallen with the tower alone (maybe I had skill issue but anyway), but I was able to beat fallen with post-nerf accel. The accel during the Violent Night event!!! The engineer technically did more damage but in practice didn't do enough! Now engi has gotten nerfed and accel has gotten better, and all of a sudden the gap between the towers became from little bit to a huge dps difference. Yes engi has more potential, but what is potential when I am too dumb to use it?
Grinding isn’t an option for me, you see, I have bad Internet so whenever I try to join hardcore I’m always only one at like wave 4 which means the strat is just thrown out and I have to waste 50 bucks (which I did)

The one thing you forgot is that the sentry has a limit of 3 in max instead of 4 (before the nerf)
I spent 45 hours grinding for engi, and I was still sane even just after buying engi

I got a real good strat that i use. I play hardcore cyber city with an autoclicker spamming skip wave. It gives me 3 gems each minute afk
btw Accelerators buff means it now does 500 dps 50 damage per shot and shoots every 0.1

What do you mean by Engineer's Jack of All Trades not making sense outside of solo hardcore? She's honestly GOOD at early game in every gamemode except badlands II in solos and duos. In trio and quads, her early game differs.
She's good at hidden enemies, yes. However, she falls off against souls and soul bosses unless 7+ max engineers.

Accel is prob better than engineer because Only it self engineer could target the hiddens except for sentries. Even the sentries miss out on a 55% ( call arm max commander ) and 35% ( range from dj ). The damage is on relies on the sentries. Good for crowds, good for early,mid,late
i first grinded for the accelerator and then did some strategies in order to win and make the game more fun than just losing all the time at wave 22 or more

I just find it worth getting because I could just flat out make the TF2 loadout whenever I feel like it.
I paired accel and engineer together and the DPS was enough to call it a one man army as engineer played the role of gunning support killing mostly the lesser enemies and accelerator slaying walls/bosses. But of course, this just from someone who doesn't really tries to beat hardcore and mostly plays regular matches for the fun of it.
Oh right the hiddens, just bring a minigunner or turret with you if you want a role for special enemy clearing. As for flying, there is ranger/ace pilot always waiting. Just utilize engineer on ground control for ordinary enemies incase swarms are affecting accelerator's performance.

due to engi now having 3 sentry limit, the dps without commander is around 380
engi sentries arent buffed by commander

Lil problem:
Technically the engineer should be one of the best towers, but in practice it does kinda s**t. It cannot solo fallen with the tower alone (maybe I had skill issue but anyway), but I was able to beat fallen with post-nerf accel. The accel during the Violent Night event!!! The engineer technically did more damage but in practice didn't do enough! Now engi has gotten nerfed and accel has gotten better, and all of a sudden the gap between the towers became from little bit to a huge dps difference. Yes engi has more potential, but what is potential when I am too dumb to use it?

if you guys want to speedrun gems use this loadout: farm commander ace pryo ranger
you just need good rng to beat it too.

i literally spent 5 days to grind for engineer and then they nerfed it 2 weeks later
Grinding isn’t an option for me, you see, I have bad Internet so whenever I try to join hardcore I’m always only one at like wave 4 which means the strat is just thrown out and I have to waste 50 bucks (which I did)

find 2 friends (hardest task)
find a good strat
do the strat once or twice a day

I just used a strat and got in 2 weeks
A win a day or 2 with some friends and it turns from being a hell to some fun
We need harder gamemode cuz all is easy
For the cost of engi u could get accel and brawler, with 800 left over I’d say get those 2 first
