Wow. Just found you. What a great guy and teacher you are. You have demonstrated answers to questions that have eluded me for years. Thank you so much………😃
I just found your channel, and this is the best explanation, and method, I've found yet, especially how to identify where on the value scale a color falls. I've struggled with that in past paintings as I'm learning. This will help me dramatically!! Very pleased. Thank you! 😊
It really brought me back watching your videos. You remind me of my favorite art teacher. Im glad I can continue my art studies in the same style I started them.
Yo quiero tener un profesor como Nelson. Qué maravilla enseñando, qué seguridad me daría bajo su dirección, pero no todo el mundo enseña bien, unos mejor que otros, así es la vida. Gracias Nelson desde España
Hi Neilson, I have question about how you're thinking about the hue notations. Munsell uses numbers for colors/hues. Does that mean that Y, YYR, YR, RYR, are the same as 10Y, 5Y, 10YR, 5YR?
Thank you for replying. I was using a Munsell color wheel and that's how it looked to me so again thank you for clarifying that. Great videos about color and mixing, thanks for making them public.
I need your help when it comes to the Cad Red Light. I have a lot of Grumbacher and Michael Harding Paints which is making picking out these colors for the Color Wheel difficult. The only Cad Red Light that I have is Grumbacher Pre-Tested Professional Line but it’s not as orange tinted as other brands. Can I use this paint for the Cad Red Light in the Wheel or do I need to do something to it. Also, the Pthalo Green I have is labeled “Blue Shade” will that work for the Greens in the wheel? Thank you so much!
Yeah not cheap but if you want to try the munsel system then its either this or paying 1000$ for a book containing small pieces of coloured card lol. Those books are a rip off! atleast this guy has taken an insane ammount of time to show us how to bypass that rip off and make our own.
I've learned so much thank you

Another very important element is lighting when trying to judge the values.
Thank you so much!
Fantastic Information thanks!
My pleasure.

Gamblin does give you the Munsell values and hues on their website.
Thank you so much !very helpful
I bought all the colors per your list, but could not find Winsor & Newton Phaloe Turquoise. What should I use? Thank you.
@DanielPenn Manganese blue hue or cobalt teal
What's the P word at 21:27? Auto translate doesn't catch it correctly.

Correct. There's something I just loathe about using the numerical language.
Just like I loathe using the term "yellow-red" for orange. Probably just because I was raised learning and using the triadic color wheel.
But I wouldn't argue with the logic of the numercial hue denominations from the standpoint of cataloguing color.
Thank you for replying. I was using a Munsell color wheel and that's how it looked to me so again thank you for clarifying that.
Great videos about color and mixing, thanks for making them public.
Thanks so much Nelson! For the 2,5 and 7,5 parts any recommendations? You would bracket the neighbor hues?

I'm sticking with my brands. This hobby gets way too pricey.
