The West Highland Way - Day 6 (Kinlochleven to Fort William)

- On day 6, I walk 16 miles from Kinlochleven to Glen Nevis campsite where I get refused table service at the Glen Nevis restaurant but luckily I still had some noodles left. The following day I continue to Fort William and complete the West Highland Way.
The tent that I am using througout the trip is the Vango Banshee 200/2 person backpacking tent. It's a great little tent that is spacious yet lightweight and affordable.

Great bunch of vids yet again. Really enjoyed them. Stroke of genius putting that plastic bag full of rubbish into a plastic bag before dumping it. Clever move. I must remember it in future.

I found day 1 of this series quite by chance, watched it and was hooked. I have now watched all 6 (or should that be 7) days plus the prepping video and have subbed. Looking forward to watching your other videos over the course of time. Please ditch the balaclava...it's really not necessary (although I confess seeing your Dad wearing one was hilarious).
Hi Ken thanks for your comment. haha I haven't worn the balaclava much this year but the reason for it was because I wanted to try and remain anonymous and not be recognised everywhere I go. It was also to try and gain more views. Glad you enjoyed watching the series, plenty more videos to come until the end of the year.

Thanks Kenny yep on a budget and it could have been much cheaper still if I hadn't made use of any campsites. That was my original plan but it never works out that way!! I noticed you've done the WHW a few times... have you ever thought about trying any of the alternatives such as The East Highland Way, Rob Roy Way etc?
Yes I`ve thought about a few other trails & some of them are on my to do list. The WHW never gets boring to me & I will be back again & next time I plan on wild camping mostly with the odd campsite to freshen up much like you`ve just done. The East Hihjland & Rob Roy ways do look a little on the boring side to me but there are many others to recon for future adventures.
Well I must admit, the Rob Roy Way was pretty boring but I enjoyed The East Highland Way.
I've enjoyed all the episodes of your West Highlnad Way walk and the fantastic views, well done. I hope you returm to Glen Nevis some time to do a video of a walk up Ben Nevis, bring a good supply of Spam to keep you going.

PS How about this, I came across a video of guys walking "The Appalachian Trail" in North America, the WHW is 95 miles, that trail is over 2000 miles, I wonder if anyone or you would willing to walk all the way on that!!?

I wouldn't get too hung up on the pine forests. Those tree's where planted to be harvested. Scotland's Natural woodland got chopped hundreds of years ago to make way for sheep and to build the Royal Navy, (after Britian lost America). Over the Last hundred years or so these Norwegian Pines have been purposely planted to be harvested. I had to walk through recent harvested area's on the second day of the East Highland Way. Shan.
Excellent Ross (or Shan?) I look forward to seeing it, I'll also be walking some of the S.U.W. near year, carrying on from St. Mary's loch. erm think I might have mentioned that before actually. I had to pitch the tent with the broken pole for one final night as I missed the bus and returned to the campsite. It was all good though. I'm finished for this season but still got a few videos to go up so it's not over yet.
Cool, my 2 year old thought the tent was a bouncy castle and threw himself on it breaking my pole before I set off. Took a roll of gaffe tape which done the job but I'll need to mend it now. Btw, 'Shan' is Edinburgh slang for 'shame'. "Thats shan" = "What a shame" :)
Ah right I haven't heard that slang word before lol but I know now. when did you venture out onto the East Highland Way? Did you complete it?
I completed the EHW in mid May this year. I camped at the same places you did on the walking Highlands blog post. Had the bothy to myself :)
Oh right cool, that must have been spooky overnight in that bothy alone... lots of creaky noises , I assume you are referring to Dalnashallag bothy and not the wooden hut called Drakes bothy.
I'm planning to do the WHW myself and of all the videos I've seen yours are the best at giving a sense of what the trail is really like, so thanks. I've heard a lot about midges. I'm walking the Way from 12 to 19 May. Are they likely to be a problem at that time of year?

Loved the whole trip...many thanx for sharin...lived in Ft William for a few years in the late 70's-early 80's...total shite house...has it changed much?
Cheerz Tazz I think Fort William is nice if you're just visiting I've never thought of it as a shit hoose but then I've never lived there, as with most places if you grow up there or live there you tend to see it for what it really is.
