I bought a Crush 35RT amp on a whim and it was great until the amp became sentient and tried to take over my house. I eventually tricked it, by seducing it with my microwave, and then I bashed its brains in with a hammer. The amp became so tricky and advanced that it took the identical form of my grandmother. But that didn't fool me! I bashed its head right in! No circuitry in this thing...to be completely honest, its insides are just filled with grey lumps and so, so, so much blood. I would buy another if it had less blood in it. All in all 8/10 stars. I would bang.
After watching this a few months ago I ordered the 35 from Amazon. It was just something to play on the back porch for me. I've been playing forever and have 2 full stacks with a rack and various heads, but never had a small amp to just play around with. This little dude actually sounds great. It's loud, but can be soft as well, while still retaining it's tone. Played several different guitars through the amp and each had it's identity intact. I have not used any effects with it yet, but I am sure it will lend itself to great tones. Very satisfied with this little gem, thanks Ty for the heads up on this, didn't even know I wanted one!
I will vouch, I played the 35 RT today for the first time in a band space with loud drums and it was comfortably loud and the sound quality was incredible. It made me wonder why I wasted so much of my life on tube half-stacks. Super convenient to haul around, loud enough for a live practice and anything bigger gets mic'd into a PA, which this is fine for. Really want one now.
Dude that’s helped me too. I currently use a katana 50 which is great but would like a bog simple amp for jams /small gigs that will cope with a drummer, playing stuff like ac/dc ,the cult, billy idol etc
I’ve come to the same conclusion after being a tube snob for so long. Solid state is good enough and has the fun tube like feel. No more tubes for me it’s time for them to die.
A lot of people are down on these amps because of their price bracket. They're categorized as "practice/beginner" amps. People will have employees at guitar stores sell them this with a first guitar. The problem is, they may not realize, this is a unique tone. Not some generic digital modelling sound. It's the "Orange sound". It's annoying to listen to the complaints. It's an amazing amp! That's Ty, from King's X. He's better than all of you, and I. If you like the Orange sound, and he says they're great, they're great!
That was the best explanation of amp features that I've ever heard from a musician - no joke. I was turned on to the Orange Crush series by my rep at Sweetwater, and I went on to buy the Terreor Bass and an OBC 115, after buying the Crush 12 practice amp - these amps sound amazing, period -
@@OrangeAmplifiers Did I get that correct that Ty uses a CR130? I was close to the stage and I thought that's what it said on it but I'd never heard of that model. You guys did hit the nail on the head with the SS tone of a tube amp with the Crush series. Years ago I really liked Ampeg SS140's and 150's. Yours might even sound better than those did and they were excellent sounding tone in the late 80's/early 90s.
God damn. Full line demo? We never hear the other amps. I mean, I KNOW these amps are gonna sound good but don't lie in the video title because I wanted to see what the 12 sounds like. I'm thinking about buying one for the apartment.
Hot Damn! Just seeing an actual member of KingsX is bonafide! Love the tunes, the sound, and an incredible way of voicing their different riffs. Black Flag is a big fave. And I just happen to be looking for a small practice amp. I'm using my Katana mk2. But at +60s, I'm trying to pare down my gear. Thanks for this Ty. Much appreciated.
I just bought a 35rt and it's pretty good. I didnt like it at first but its grown on me. They dont get very sharp. Crank the treble all the way and it's still somewhat muddy but you can get quite a few tones out of them. I havent tried playing with a band but I dont think it would sound too great with a band. The headphone output sounds absolutely horrible though.
why come out with the "new" RT when the LDX had more things on it.... I went to the guitar store and got pissed that they had RT and not LDX, so I didnt buy orange
That's a new line strategy--less being more. These are meant to be "conventional" amps--not modelling or built-in effects amps. They put the money into being an affordable conventional amp that is super quality where your models and effects are stuff you buy and use as was the "model" before amp manufacturers went nuts with trying to pack so many features into the amp that it became overkill to use and to support. I have the 20 on order and a Boss GT 001 effects/modelling processor. I expect it's gonna be a great pairing for home playing and recording. I have a Peavey VYPYR Vip2 which contains several amp models most of which I don't like or use--they are for metal heads. The built-in fuzz is too fuzzy to be useful, the 12 string effect sounds more like Jamaican steel drums than a 12 string guitar and so on. I don't like adding effects to an amp that is a choice of software models. That's why I want a "conventional" amp that has bass, mid, treble, gain, volume and that's it. I'll send that amp a signal that is already dolled up with an effects processor realm of bells and whistles.
RareBird0 all true. I think the sound integrity is ruined with so many effects - so many things so clutter the signal path. Now you have an ALL analog circuit. I think this was a much more useful direction. Orange has made the amps from a bedroom practice amp to a usable professional amp used by players like TY
He has been using Orange at least live for around 5 years or so. He likes solidstate amps over tube so I don't know any amp manufacturer making something that is really like the cr120, and that is what Ty uses.
Ty definitely uses these and has been using them live for quite a few years. I see Kings X every time they play in NJ and he used the CR-120 head with two Orange 4x12 cabs. Rock on!
Ty Tabor is the one of the most underrated guitarist of our era. Go ahead Ty and keep up the great work that you do!
Most of the world doesn't know he exists

Holy hell. This comment is really underappreciated XD
Wth is this comment lol
🤘
Well shit. If I would have known about all that I would have bought this instead of a Boss Katana.
I hate it when I buy an amp and that happens

good info mike , do they have an effects loop?
@@markod442 Yes, it has effects loop, reverb, aux in and headphones out. Still working great.
Been doin this a while,huh?
You can never find that perfect sound.
Until you do.
I can't even fathom ever giving up the rush of playing.

35 watts and a 10" speaker big enough to compete with a drummer?

@@swmorgan515 Of course.

I just saw KINGS X last week and he was using a CR130 head and 2 orange cabs. I was shocked he was using a S.S. amp with that amazing tone he gets.
Solid state amps are great, depends on the gig and application. Kirk from Crowbar swears by the Crush Pro 120 Head.

Ty's been using SS all of his career with King's X.
Dare I say it sounds closer to the Lab Series?
Had a Crush 35rt and must say it was impressive!!! Cleans were great and distortion was really good too
Keep it.

Ty is the best!!
ty tanor tiene muy claro el tema del tono de su guitarra, grandioso!!!
im like,COOL TY TABOR,he is going to play some wicked kingsx then im like WTF ,he just talks the entire frikkin time.
Ty's tone is in his finger tips

I totally agree with what TT says, I own one myself.
Love Ty Tabor and purchased the 35rt . Sold it fast because solid state and me never got along !
I love this video purely for the size comparison, buying online can be really tricky when you have no idea how big each orange fucker is.
I like the amp but I had to replace the speaker which was defective from the factory.
hi can someome tell me will the crush 35 rt be good for gigs by its self
2:35 Ty thinks so.
Of course! just put a good mic in front... a
SM57
It is good for small gig?
the 35 is
Ty should teach music classes in college on the side...he's awesome!
Whats the intro called?
It's.love by Kings X

Wow dogman was crazy!
Sound nice :)
The high end of the amps sounds pup.
I bought a 35rt 3 months ago and it died on me yesterday.
Yeah actually the company I bought it from Gak, were excellent and took care of it all for me. Was a speaker failure.
That sucks
What was the point of holding a guitar and having a mic up to one?
These are tube are they?
No, solid state!
do you reckon a regular 20 can be used on a gig paired with a drummer?
GoldFinger
A 35 should be to do that
Absolutely I have a friend in a band using a 20 watt head through a 4/12 cab and "it screams"!
Is that a Tube Amp?
solid state
No, it is an analog solid state amp
why come out with the "new" RT when the LDX had more things on it.... I went to the guitar store and got pissed that they had RT and not LDX, so I didnt buy orange

This guy changes amps every month..jeesh
it must come in handy to have a king's X bank account

There are only TWO bands better than King's X. They are King's Y and King's Z. King's A is just awful...
Well that was a waste to wait almost 5 min to hear you strum 3 times :v
I love Ty but those amps sound like ass. His best tone (aside from the famous Lab Series tone) was through the Mesa Dual Recs on Dogman.
Yeah this is not a very good sound. Ty is amazing though!
He plays the Orange Cr120 live and it sounds great !
Ty also used the mesa rackmount power amps like the 2:90
Honestly I like the sound of this amp and I think his best sound was on the self titled album, call me crazy
The first four Kings X albums are the best sound.
Hey Ty, shaddup and play yer freakin guitar!
Those are the ONLY critical words I have ever spoken about him in 30 years.
Not the Kings X sound. Get back to your L5 Ty!!!
So what the fuck is doing the guitar here?
These amps suck as big as ty is good. I don’t believe 1 second he actually uses this.
The summary of midlife crisis...
You talked the entire time. Fail.
Kind of a bummer video. It sounds like he's shilling and he hardly plays the guitar.
+williamyanes I believe it was Einstein who said, "Duh!"
williamyanes Shilling? It's a video for Orange, Ty's an endorser, it's not his personal video. Apparently you don't know what shill means.
Thanks for your feedback, friend.
Well Kings X never had a platinum record so hes got to make a buck where he can.
talk talk talk be nice if you play to hear what it sound smuck
are they tube?
I should have waited to comment! No tubes.
