A nature lover’s oasis where the design approach was to create a home with fragmented zones, punctured by its surroundings.
The garage, living area, main bedroom and two guest bedrooms are separated by professionally landscaped ‘zen’ courtyards. The dark colours allow the home to sit and blend comfortably within its coastal forest context.
Below a preserved Marula tree stands a Japanese inspired yoga pavilion perfect for meditation within the site’s natural beauty. Playing its part as a natural sculpture, a fallen ficus natalensis tree provides the ultimate privacy screen and backdrop for the glass ‘wrapped’ living area.
To complement the naturalist design brief, the house integrates solar panels for the electricity demand and a feature riverbed attenuation pond to capture and re-use rain water for the entire home. Off the grid, simplistic and natural.
