I love your videos! I've been using your videos to help me as a first time dog owner with my now 14 week old puppy. I am interested in seeing videos about how to re enforce good indoor behavior to become more trusting with my puppy. (So far, I've learned a puppy can never be trusted. No matter how cute they are.) I have an issue with my puppy wondering the house. I use a 8ft line to keep her in my sight and prevent accidents. She pulls on the line constantly durring this. she doesnt have accidents with me and generally well behaved. Consistancy with my husband had been tough because he feels the crate and in house line isnt nice. But she almost always backtracks with him in terms of potty training and chewing due to this. He grew up with older dogs that were trained by his parents and generally gets very frustrated when our puppy cant follow basic house rules. ( I've sent him so many of your videos but I dont think hes watched them... tips on training a spouse would be nice). How often should be allow her to wonder ( while watched)? how long is it okay to let her leave her out of the crate( how much crate time is too much)? Should we be letting her explore the house while on a line? Thank you for all your tips for dog training. I would be so lost without your videos.
My 16 week border collie has been SO HARD to potty train. I realize now that the blame is on me for an oblivious lack of consistency on my part but oh my gosh this channel has been a game changer.
My record is 3 days for house breaking a puppy. I was attached to puppy for the entire 3 days, ate and slept with puppy so I caught every single moment without fail.
My guy got it around 13 weeks, but i caught every accident and took him outside immediately after. Would have been faster if he wasn't peeing every 15 minutes, i couldn't get him outside frequently enough to keep him from having a lot of accidents, lol. seemed like he also didn't want to potty outside because it was hot at first.
@@Wagggs32 true, and also building different reinforcers! Like asking the dog to do whatever before going out of the the door or asking for tricks before tossing a toy... Anything the dog likes can be a reinforcer and it's good to use many things so they don't get bored : )
Time to wean. The pup will learn to be more calm, patient, and consistent if you slow the rate of treats and start expecting multiple behaviors per treat. You can also reward with touch, sight, smell, toy, game, praise, enthusiasm. Time to mix it up.

I recently started to take my 4 months old Bull Terrier on walks and he runs up to every person on the street because he wants to play with them, and if they ignore him (almost everyone ignores him) he sits and starts crying
Hey Zak, here's a game for you. You need a throwing stick and a tennis-ball. Between throws I like to let my dog get the ball while I move it around. The more eager the dog is to get it, the better. This is my favorite game because it's kind of a dance and Marley can win on her own. In fact; every game ends with her winning, the trick is to keep her from winning as long as possible. She developed tactics, and I had to learn to counter those tactics, and she then learned to anticipate the counters, so it's a very multi-dimensional game. It's also a fantastic work-out. I'd love to see you try it out.
I honestly thought my dog was not trainable, but it was actually me who didn't know how to train her, now we have a trick routine and shes begrudgingly doing roll over, can't wait for leash training.
I don't trust TropiClean after having used it a while and realizing my dog's repulsed reaction to it, then reading that alcohol is one of their main ingredients...
Early? I love this series! I'm really wanting a border collie and this series have really inspired me! 💖 if I do get a dog I'm definitely buying PupBox!
I think Intertia got more treats than the kids! We did the same thing this past halloween. Sat outside and worked on a sit/stay while trick or treaters came up.
Those LED glow collars are great for after dark walks, really make the dog easy to see, and could be a life saver if the dog slips the collar during an after dark walk John
I’d love to see one on training 3 dogs to stay!! I’ve 2 x 21 month old pups and a 9 year old. They can stay if I teach them individually or in the park but in the house they just can’t resist following me!!
My dog Luna has a few really bad behaviours that I need to figure out! 🤯 ...She gets way too excited when people are at the door, walking past our property fence line, and when we're on a walk and see another human/dog. 😩 The common reaction is overexcitement and I get that the behaviour I require from her is a sit, stay, or come but... she just doesn't listen. If I have chicken or something amazing as a reward, and her focus is on the person walking by, my "come" will be ignored because the person walking by is far more appealing. It's all hard work & patience so hopefully we'll get there.
Tried both Barkbox and PupBox. Prefer the PupBox because each time is a different variety of toys and treats. Barkbox tends to send the same type of treats and the toys are not the best quality imo.
I got reccomended to use a Prong collar by a pro trainer. my dog is about 8-9 months and is border collie and husky and doesnt like to listen outside but knows commands very well inside including stay and heel and down. He doesnt listen at all outside and will not eat treats outside no matter how long i acclimate him to the new area and smells. What would you reccomend I do instead of the prong collar.
Fyi, a prong collar doesn't need to be used punitively. It can be used like a flat collar for communication. Small leash movements let the dog know what you are asking. If the collar is fitted and positioned properly, leash movement can be more gentle than other collars. Used this way the collar doesn't inflict pain or discomfort. (I'm not talking about giving collar corrections. I'm talking about nudges. Slow down, turn, let's go, etc) Do what's right for you and your dog.
@@AnoraJohnson thank you , I've gone to many professionals and have spent 100s of hours training since writing that and learned how to use prong and e collars now luckily, I really appreciate your in depth reply :) . A long with other dogs beyond my own using his^ videos and a ton of others who use tools like the prong. I always try to tell people now exactly what you told me!!!
My problem is that my dog knows what we are asking him and still doesn’t do it. He doesn’t really like to do tricks randomly. The main problems we have with him is he licks the dishes in the dishwasher and we can’t get him to stop even when we give his leave it command. Even if we can physically remove him he always comes back or barks like crazy until he can.
Okay I do enjoy watching Zak's videos but I'm just gonna say this. My dog Scout is an assistance dog in training and he's 10 months old now and knows over 40 commands reliably. He was ignoring people and loose leash walking at the age of 4 months old. I put in hours of hard work and training daily to keep his training up to standards. Inertia doesn't even know how to sit on walks unless she has a 10 minute sniff and gets her barking fits out. Like, I get positive reinforcement is great for dogs but they need discipline otherwise they end up like Inertia. I've noticed, Inertia never gets a correction on her harness (harnesses also teach dogs to pull) or a "no". Zak also doesn't make the commands very clear by saying "can you do a ___" "are you able to ____". Dogs understand best with 1 or 2 word commands, not full sentences. Scouts commands are "sit" (and then a good boy or yes) "down" "leave it" etc. Zak needs to just put in the smallest amount of discipline into Inertias training and he would see an instant change in her. I don't mean correcting her for everything she does or yelling at her but I would suggest walking her on a collar instead of harness and do small corrections for when she pulls ahead and walk in the other direction too. Then when you establish a loose leash walk, reward her for not pulling. Every single dog needs discipline and boundaries. Inertia doesn't know what right from wrong is because she doesn't have rules. If she pulls, Zak lets her pull. If she barks, Zak lets her bark. And when Inertia was a puppy, Zak should've curbed these behaviours straight away
He presents training in 7 days. Each of 7 items are commands that he believes a dog should know. They are presented in part ii of the book th-cam.com/users/postUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq . I don‘t even have a dog...why am I watching this?
Beware! That’s how it all starts, it’s a slippery slope. lol. You can always foster; it’s like rent-a-pet, only free!
Barb Tucker it depends on where you live. It is so difficult to get a shelter dog in London that those who do get them from Romania or Cyprus. I dog sit to get my dog fix.

You have quite the backlog of videos going there
I was about to say the same thing... hmmm
I actually checked the date on the video I was confused
How many people would bet that @9 months, she shows no reliable or stable behavior based on his training ? He can't use the footage because their is no way to edit it to hide that he is not very good at this. There are countless dogs at 6-9 months ready for compettition training after a complete basic behavior foundation. He still can't get a loose leash walk, a retrieve, a sit in a park, a reliable stay anywhere. He's lightyears behind most home pet owners and he is a professional. I would be embarrassed.
@@Ethan-um7cp is she 9 months here?
@@jizzypuff She is 6 months in the clip. She is 9 months now. We'll have to wait and see if he makes any meaningful progress.

I love your videos! I've been using your videos to help me as a first time dog owner with my now 14 week old puppy. I am interested in seeing videos about how to re enforce good indoor behavior to become more trusting with my puppy. (So far, I've learned a puppy can never be trusted. No matter how cute they are.)
I have an issue with my puppy wondering the house.
My doggie is master of all commands. Until I run out of treats
Wondering can everyone here on this comment can bring there dog in high distractions like a playground with kids and dogs off leash just using your technique with treats?
@@superstankydanky808 yup.

Great video as always! But my god, Zac's "Treak or treat!" voice was absolutely terrifying! You nearly had *me* barking at my screen!
I LOVE Inertia's triangle on her head!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that runs around my house like a crazy person when teaching my dog to stay
I love your videos so freaking much, they are so realistic, thank you soooo much
Put a baby gate on your living room door. When the door goes, guide the pup through to the living room, close the gate & reward. I did this for only days & my pup began to take herself through the open gate and sit/stay behind it when she hears the buzzer💖
Inertia is so cute and she is getting so big! I love your videos. Also, I thought I'd tell you that at 2:03 ish the reason she came was because you said "here". She may have just messed up but if she comes to "come" and "here" then that might be why. I don't know why I just wanted to tell you! Have a great day!! Also, no book plug? No Pet Flow? Are you alright Zak?
Love your videos so much! This has really helped. I am bout to get a new puppy soon and your videos are the best!
I recently started to take my 4 months old Bull Terrier on walks and he runs up to every person on the street because he wants to play with them, and if they ignore him (almost everyone ignores him) he sits and starts crying
Exactly my golden does that too . It gets really irritating
My golden does that too and it gets really irritating
And they not only ignore her but they are scared of her.
Would anyone else here like to watch something on how to prevent separation anxiety?
I honestly thought my dog was not trainable, but it was actually me who didn't know how to train her, now we have a trick routine and shes begrudgingly doing roll over, can't wait for leash training.
I don't trust TropiClean after having used it a while and realizing my dog's repulsed reaction to it, then reading that alcohol is one of their main ingredients...
I believe u and u are reasonable. Thanks for using new dog.
Kills me every time I see sweet Indiana wagging her tail and hoping for a treat, too!
Early? I love this series! I'm really wanting a border collie and this series have really inspired me! 💖
if I do get a dog I'm definitely buying PupBox!
oml the way he goes out the door then stars saying "BLAW BLAW BLAW" then just straight up screaming
I think Intertia got more treats than the kids! We did the same thing this past halloween. Sat outside and worked on a sit/stay while trick or treaters came up.
I have never missed an episode and never will. I love how she's got a halloween collar😀❤
Those LED glow collars are great for after dark walks, really make the dog easy to see, and could be a life saver if the dog slips the collar during an after dark walk
John
Oh okay thanks @John Crea
“Candy in the bag and no one gets hurt” that’s actually really funny
No shortcuts. I like that. Most owners don’t want to invest the time to get a well behaved dog.
I’m sending my 10 month old Golden Retriever Jess, good luck Zak
Thank you so much for this video!I try to find this kind of video for 1 hour!finely you do this video!Thank you!
I’d love to see one on training 3 dogs to stay!! I’ve 2 x 21 month old pups and a 9 year old. They can stay if I teach them individually or in the park but in the house they just can’t resist following me!!
10:03 This whole scene is hilarious
Oh my goodness! This video is so funny! I love it! Great real life examples.
Im at the same position atm .. my dog great indoors but any distraction and all the commands might as well be in German !!!🤣
Loved this episode 😊
She is getting to be so big! :) She is just so cute.
Watching this at the right time. 1 month t9 Halloween and I wanna make sure my pup can handle it:)
Tried both Barkbox and PupBox. Prefer the PupBox because each time is a different variety of toys and treats. Barkbox tends to send the same type of treats and the toys are not the best quality imo.
My border collie is the same as Inertia! Anxious towards new people and dogs. Can’t goto dog park or off leash. Can’t goto busy areas.
Slow down, turn, let's go, etc)
Do what's right for you and your dog.
@@AnoraJohnson thank you , I've gone to many professionals and have spent 100s of hours training since writing that and learned how to use prong and e collars now luckily, I really appreciate your in depth reply :) . I Love Your Channel!!!
"Oh hi trick or treaters!" 😂😂
My dog kept freaking out every time she heard the ring doorbell on the video 😂. Guess I have some work to do myself.
LOL,, Mine too. He went crazy.
Oh so I’m not the only one who says ma’am to my dog
