Eyup sandy, quick heads up, go underneath the vehicle, where the bellhousing to engine block is, and the subframe, theres a wiring harness. The harness is in a plastic corrugated sleeving, it Carrys the main live wire, and also the battery light wire from the alternator upto the ecu,and instrument panel. The live wire gets that hot, that it melts the other wires, and causes all sorts of problems. Done 2 vitos, for the exact same fault. On similar year vehicles. It has to be checked. You have to pull the sleeving off, and get to the harness. Hope this helps. Cheers, kieren
Another piece of quality German engineering Sandy, many would have bought an alternator, fitted it , then had to fix the other job for nowt, great work , the crimps look a Lidl bit familiar to me , I got a box last week in my local store 👍
I have this fault code after new alternator replacement, voltage on idile 14.1v stable, when accelerating a bit I can see light inside is dimming a bit , it can be bad regulator or something else with old alternator had no fault codes
