Excellent video. Chirag looks to me to be a go to plumber; the way he's kitted out his van tells me he takes his work seriously and professionally. Well done.
I replaced my old Grundfos pump with a UPS3 last winter, but left it on constant speed 1 on my open vented system. This worked ok in my 13 rad house, but the rads were never really scorching and my delta t was only around 5c even after balancing all the rads, I can now get it to over 20c when the system firsts starts heating and the rads are cold before it settles to around 10c. I only found out about this proportional setting last week so I trialing it with proportional speed 2. I find now that my rads have a more even heat all over, and my water tank seems to heat the water slower, but more evenly. Before if my wife or daughter took a shower then we may need to wait for the water to heat up a little before we could take another. Now we can get around 2 showers done before the water drops below 38C. Thanks for doing this video as there are very few that explain this pumps options 😀
Thanks for this explanation. I fitted the ups3 in early 2021, and left on constant speed 1. Since changing some radiators and fitting new TRV's which started to whistle. I have changed to proportional pressure 2. Hopefully this will solve the problem of whistling valves.
Great video mate! I just installed the same pump at my home. It's a gravity system, 13 rads in total. Could I ask what would be the best setting for me to run the pump on? I have it on constant curve 2 at the minute. Thank you 🙂
Thank you James for your query, we would recommend setting two or three on constant speed or speed two on the proportional setting. Regards, Lilly, Grundfos
Thank you for clear concise description. I have just taken ownership of a small 2bed terrace with a Grundfos UPS3 already installed to a simple radiator system. What setting should the pump be set at in your opinion??? 🙏
Thank you Mark for your query, we would recommend setting two or three on constant speed or setting two on the proportional setting. Regards Lilly, Grundfos
Won’t fit grundfoss anymore….drastically dropped in quality and reliability… and their warranty/ guarantee is a joke. Not trolling you my man…really like your content
