YES!! Block 3 is where you position your goals before the rational logic of your brain. I pack 50# all spring and summer to keep my lungs and legs fully engaged, especially on hill workouts. At age 55, I'm here to tell the younger guys that with every passing year, it's more and more difficult to come to terms with realities of aging. Your mind will remain at age 30 for decades, the trick is to keep your body conditioned well to avoid injury. That'll take you out of the game well before you need to reach for 'mental toughness'. This is an ass kicker that will benefit a lot of people - thank you!
53 yo western hunter and you are 100% correct, although I think I'm still 25. I'll add in good nutrition to the exercise piece as you age. There's no way I could eat several pieces of pizza, have a beer and still perform the following day at my age. At least I can't anyway.
I'll be down in the plains of Colorado this fall, but I definitely need to find a plan to make a pack out at least bearable, I'm gonna give this a shot for sure!
Me - I'll just train in the bushes, ponds. And rocky spots when the snow is gone. That's what I'll be doing a lot. Also doing a lot if target practice on various sizes and ranges at different times of the day so that I can also train my eyes to see even in the darker tume or brighter
You can do this high intensity workout once a week with other days being focused on functional strength. If you want more guidance our programs integrate these sorts of workouts into a very hunting mission specific flow so you don't have to think about it. Let us know if you have any other questions!
If you are mixing in functional strength training days a cardio/ruck day, this one would be good to throw in 1x per week at full high intensity max effort (assuming you’re working out 5x per week. This one is a great gage on if you’re ready to crush a pack out. If you struggle to get through it you need much more training. We follow a very specific pattern in our pre season training program if you want specifics feel free to start a free trial and check out the pre season 2.0 program and let us know if you have any questions. Cancel before the trial ends if it’s not for you 👍🏼

Wise words. Thank you!
71 y.o. and still train and it's so real that the mind doesn't want to accept that the body has changed.

Genius, I don't hunt but I like to hike with a heavy pack and bring comfort items. This will be perfect to condition for longer hikes

That workout is no joke! I don't have the sled, any ideas for a swap?
We got you. Here's a video on sled substitutions: th-cam.com/video/TUVPDvC-MsI/w-d-xo.html
Back in highschool we'd pull a heavy rope or chain with tires or concrete blocks. (Tires recommend) Worked for football and wrestling.
Hey MTNTOUGH, What’s the weight in the sled during the sled push?
Body weight. Dustin is doing 200 in this video.
It seems like a great workout,I dont have a sled,What can i use instead?
