You can aspire to great things in life, but how about in death? Could you be one of the world's greatest fossils many years from now? To ensure being found by a future paleontologist, you'll need to die in a highly specific way (think within tree sap or on the bottom of the ocean floor), and nature takes care of the rest. Phoebe A. Cohen details the steps your body must take to find future fame as a fossil.
Lesson by Phoebe A. Cohen, animation by Anton Bogaty.
1. die
2. get buried Q U I C K
3. sink
4. *PROFIT*
Well, nearly all humans have the "die" and "get buried quick" part down.
What die!?
man that would have been perfect if you would had said stonks instead of profit pls edit it
gio noni it was made 2 years ago i don’t think they would’ve known about the future of stonks
꧁h a o q w꧂ yeah at the time the stonks meme didn’t exist
Most dramatic narrator ever!
Nope! Check out the narrator from the superhero videos, thank me later.
Bump
I know right

That guys sassy!
Everyone, it's time for...AMERICA'S NEXT TOP FOSSIL!

Great comment
I can actually see that as a show in the future
"So lets say you're lucky enough to die."
Yea, lucky me :I

YAS QUEEN
best narrator + best animator = awesomeness overload
true
awful narrator
+ThatNerdKidd TheSmier_ He's awful indeed.
omg! that's such an accurate description!
l
I"m totally digging the dark humor in this. Super creative way to talk about a typically boring topic.
How can you make burying yourself alive in water boring in any way
I don't see the problem with the voice over , or the approach. No one wants to listen to a boring old man lecture and rant about becoming a fossil. Lighten up people, this video is great. Especially the voice-over !!!!
"So lets say if you're lucky enough to die..." Hahaha! The Narrator is great!
How To Become A Fossil
1. DIE
Done.
Akira Angel get a knife
Akira or drown
How to become a fossil
1.DROWN
Done
The fossil record was caused by Noah's flood. The flood quickly buried all life, as recorded in the bible(God's word). That is why we have fossils. To make a fossil an organisms must be covered very quickly.

YOU BETTA WORK!
To die........................... :/
the sass in this narration A+
Such an impressive and expressive narrator!
5 years and no replies
YOU BETTER WERK. Sashay away? NAH Decay away. Rupauls Deadrace

Get oouuuuuuuutttt 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This guy's voice is so fun to listen to!
He sounds like my Geometry teacher.
And to be honest I think it's his jovial narration of such a grim process which sets people off, not his voice, itself.
Haha the narrator is so funny
Just frezze like fry from futurama
tieuwest ii
He sound like flowey
This is the best I've seen so far!
exactly! hahaha
This video gets to show that being truly famous isn't easy, that you have to work hard to achieve it
"Did you become a fossil"
"Yes"
"What did it cost"
"Everything"
he sounds like an anime character this is incredible
That's what I was thinking! We need more of this guy XD
+Techon! Haters, Just keep it to yourself. No one cares
fucking weeaboos
filthy frank lol
GamingRising Weeaboos are people who THINK they’re japanese just because of listening and watching anime. So the person isn’t really an actual weeaboo. Most people who are weeaboos are americans.
First time, I liked the narrator over the animation lol “now you better pose!” 😂😂😂
Brilliant delivery. Pity to those who don't get it. It is spot on. Loved it!! It brought on a spontaneous smile and chuckle.

@@Felix-xv3wg Haha. Oh. I have an idea. Let's take this presentation and bury it in an anaerobic bog, and... well... you know the rest! Fame and fortune await!!

So, you wanna be a fossil? Well, you gotta werk, sis...!

WERK
The guys voice is pretty hilarious bc he sounds so desparate to get attention or he was just really bored but either way im too lazy to add punctuation to this comment
+Madalyn Amber
Are four to five extra keystrokes too much work? :)
so you will just end up in a museum a thousand years later , not a good thing
Personally, I would be too dead to give a shit what happens to me.
oh here you are again
actually its easier enter in a piscine of molten glass and wait then its easier to find you
better than being stuck underground
UPlayNetwork I'm pretty sure humans would have devolved by that time
Loved the voice iver. Awesome animation. Great as always.
Video: First you gotta DIE
MEEP: no way see y'all
XD
+Κώστας Καραπαπαχατζηδιμιτρακόπουλος I don't wanna die :(
haha , me neither.
+Blake Babcock | You are not alone!
Same here
... I love this. He’s like, “come on, fella! If you wanna be a fossil, you gotta work!”
Be right back, going to try it :3
Ok, see you after 10000000000 years! Bye!
Danny Yukeo updates?
I actually won't live for so long, so maybe we will meet in a museum
@@espoo2kuu494 Wait what?
This might be my favorite TED-Ed. The narrator is excellent and I now want to be buried in tree sap!
Thank you TED-Ed, I was going to do this today but, forgot how to fossilize my self :)
If the face is oval then why is the skull shaped like a T?
Welcome to life, and have fun
Cheeks of course cover the face
franchiske I noticed that too and I've been scrolling through the comments just to find if anyone commented this☺
I was about to say that, LIKE HOW IT THE SKULL SO BIG AND THE REAL FACE SO SMALL
Gotta assert its dominance over the other bones.
Umm i have a question if i buried myself half way and flip the bird if you know what i'm saying, what are my chances to one day to flip some archaeologist off in the further ?
By the time they find you, showing the middle finger might have an entirely different meaning
The narrator is dark af ._.
I've never seen so much hate and love for someone's voice simultaneously.
i thought it said "how to fertilize yourself" wtf brain XD
Makes me want to see a "How to Undergo Parthenogenesis" video now.
Both are weird anyway :/
I doubt people from millions of years in the future would look like that.
evolution has stopped because we now change the surrounding environment
Vaibhav Gupta Evolution hasn't stopped, we just changed the factors of evolutionary pressure. Evolution would stop if the chances of reproduction (and survival of offsprings) of each human was the same, which is not the case.
Whether it's attractiveness, money or lack of sexual education that offsets the balance, some will have more success passing on their genes, for better or for worse.
yeah but before evolution is walking on 2 legs because it saves energy for brain to work. look at a ex. we drive cars has cars been evolved to be driven or vice versa.
but today just about any body can earn money.
their is no evolutionary advantage in modern world.
Fossilization doesn't take millions of years.
We can have larger cranial capacity, or an extra limb. Idk. We can still evolve.
The narrator is amazing!
I couldn't stop laughing
"Now u betta hold dat pose!" 😂😂 I loved the narrator on this one!!
Absolutely loved the voice over. Fantastic job!!
That voice over sounded scary as fuck.
It sounded enthusiastic
the most hilarious clip of Ted-ed...btw, it's not easy to be a fossil :D
After all those years still my favourite TedEd video. Cool subject, nice animations and absolutely fantastic writing and narration 👌👌👌
Congratulations Joshua Holden, this was one of the best narration work that i've see
o que dizer desse narrador que eu mal conheço e já considero pakas?
0:43 rupaul is that you? ??
Another idea to add on to my "before I die " list.
I dont know why but this is the best narrator i have ever heard
4:24 I love how he walks
I love the voice here
Rupaul detected.
The voice and the narration blew my mind.
What is dramatic way of teaching , I like it , thank you 👍👍
step 1: die
step 2: get buried-fast
step 3: soak in ground water
step 4: wait to be exposed
no one gonna get the reference...
Step One:
Me: Waiting
*DIE*
Me: okay then
I wish my teacher was as dramatic and fun as this narrator
Not to be rude, but chances are you would be found by construction worker, the paethologist will just study you.
Sounds like Mettaton
*V E R I F I E D*
"You better WERK, darling!"
“dying is easy, living is harder.”
and fossilizing yourself is the hardest!
Best narrator. Keep him.
BEST NARRATOR- we all loved- I even stopped mid cooking to listen
This goes straight in my to do list...
#fossil #Science #fossilization #todolist
This sounds like a psa that cecil would announce to nightvale.
I knew I couldn't be the only one who though about that!
It even sounds like the Desert Bluffa guy!
I could listen to this narrator for hours dude, this is satisfying
this narrator is my favorites i need more of him.
Yay! Lets try this!
I found this video quite entertaining.
the fact that this is narrated by kevin from WTNV makes the whole thing much more ominous
Love the narrator. He helps to make the video more dramatic and attracted
The narrator seems to be smiling while narrating this I guess 😂
note to self, when i die i am to be thrown into an ocean
I love this voice Joshua Holden it's like Dawko
best narrator and animation story ever i love you Joshua Holden!
You better work
I found the guys feminine overly melodramatic pretty entertaining, someone who thinks hes 'too gay' or someshit needs to get over it :L
+Sk8Joker1 Ikr. I find him very entertaining
I- I don't know when I first saw this video but I do know that I have been searching for it ever since.
Why can’t we watch this at school? Seriously, watching those weird National Geographic videos from the 90s is such a snooze fest.
I need more of this in my life
voice-over was... kinda awkward...
me
but funny lol
I love how the paleontologist happens to be a lady :)
"you better work!"
this guy has been watching rupaul
Narrator makes me feel like we are both planning on my fossilization, for real for real.
i found this really funny lol
This guy sounds shady at the start.
This sounds like something from Night Vale read by someone from Desert Bluffs and I love it
Best animation and story ever
At least 100 people will fossilize themself.
under 300 club
What?
I teach high school biology and had my students watch this video and they all agreed it was dark humor lol
It's 8:53 and I'm cracking up on the subway from this narrator. This is---- AN EXPERIENCE OH MY GOD
the voice over and writing for the VO were not not good for this one
Very bad approach to a good subject… Less "us dying" more "crystals formation"!
Particularly incredible narrator
my favorite ted ed video. hands down
i have no words for how much this voice actor pisses me off
lol he just sounds so into it, like hes describing the best meal he ever had, its just fucking creepy when its about decay and death
I find him hilarious!
He's my little brother. He's awesome. And he IS excited about it! He's an exciting dude. However I AM glad he's pissing you off. THAT makes my day. Thank you!

passive aggressive much?
No passive. Just aggressive thanks.
is the narrator a man or woman?
Why does it matter?
BariumCobaltNitrog3n why do you even wanna know that?
I love the narrator he's so engaging and hilarious ^^

Narrotor is creepy :/
Don't like the voice-over on this one.
