Hi Moose! I wanted to ask you how the outer focus points work with this lens when at 1.4? Reason for asking is I have tamrons 35 1.4 and only the very center focus point is reliable, necessitating focus and recomposing . Which isn’t practical for moving people (like onstage at concerts ) . I normally use 3d tracking or D9 and yeah, keeping my focus point on the face and eyes, just consistently missed and missed that way. Focus and recompose, though: bang on. Do you find you’re able to use outer and upper focus points at 1.4 and still get sharp results ? Thank you!
The 50mm was the "normal" lens back in the film days, and most film cameras were sold with a 50mm f/1.8 lens. Films cameras were called 35mm cameras because of the 24x36mm film size, not because of the 35mm lens. I do agree with you about Nikon's f/1.4 prime lenses, they are fantastic, I did not buy the 105mm f/1.4 because I already have the 85mm f/1.4 and the 105 micro f/2.8 but next time I visit B&H I sure will take a look at that 105mm f/1.4 lens.
This lens is superior glass!!!But I went with the classic focal length of 35(1.4g).This is much better lens but the 35 is great too and I am satisfied!!! I wanted to go with the 28 quite bad but I bought it for weddings.I might buy this lens too in the future for landscapes lol

Watched your review and picked one up ...im a wedding portriat pro and i have a 24 to70 and the 70 to 200 and to those are wondering this is completly different animal its my first prime and i really love it ya it is $$$ but, you all know how that goes

Have a sturdy extraordinary metal Nikon AF 28mm f/1.4D lens. Use only metal Nikon prime lenses on my Nikon F5 and on my two Nikon D4.

that's a good question, with the f1.8 already in hand, you find yourself looking for that little extra f1.4 provides? I propably wouldn't.
