    I used a difficulty interacting with an elderly relative and moved that into a joyful, peaceful walk with my wonderful dog. It worked! Thank you x

    My friends who are so generous with their time and talent made another wonderful video that I will watch over and over and use these tools my whole life. I’m so grateful for them.

    Thank you so much for sharing this video. I did the mapping across exercise and I believe it is successful. I want to share that when I was looking at the sub modalities of the unwanted resource, I literally almost puked. I have done this exercise twice in my life and both times I had extreme kinesthetic responses.

    thank u thanku so much in my past my parents always used to talk about other people in our joint family how they made mistakes, they used to judje them for their mistakes and they used to say that u should never make such mistakes and if u do look what happens i got so scared to make mistake and was afraid to fail, i was afraid of their judgements and it got so deep in me that at one point i stopped trying but i cant live with this anymore i have all potential to achieve all my goals and just bcoz of some fear i dont want to let my dream die..this excercise really helped me so thank you again

    Thank you. As soon as I saw the image of present state I also saw image of future state. As I describe the picture of current state there is sadness. When you instructed to write down resources, I saw an abstract image. And when I superimposed the abstract image to present state, I feel calm and there is sense of confidence.

    I think another word for working with these sensory elements is submodalities. It seems to me like neurotypicals know how to fit into the conventional system of society because they think like most people on which societies are constructed upon a template e.g. neurotypicals would find driving easier because the rules of the roads come naturally to them as they are based on how they naturally think. Some of us however such as myself with Asperger's syndrome traits have to learn step by step more than most others in order to fit in. I love NLP for this reason and find it personally very valuable as it teaches me how to live and makes life easier. While watching this video my undesired state was the thought and image of me spending too much time on my laptop doing academic research and the negative sounds that disturb me in and outside the house. On the other hand, my desired state was a pleasant walk in the park with birds chirping and people walking silently at a distance. So I switched these two states by imagining myself with my laptop sitting on the grass in the park while on the other hand sitting at my desk in my room watching the pleasant scene of the park in front of me instead of watching my laptop. As a result, I realize that I can study people to empower my learning in the subject of psychology instead of spending too much time doing endless research on my laptop in my room alone. The feeling attached to my undesired state was loneliness, and vulnerability, and also a little bit frightening as I felt a little bit worried about my insecurity in life. This is because I will soon have to stand up on my own feet instead of relying upon others to take care of me. Spending too much time in my room interferes with that potential. Thank you.

    I love how simply and easily this actually works!! My question is about a 'root cause'. Will this state return or manifest is something else if the root isn't dealt with? What if the current state comes from abuse in childhood? Thank you for your videos!! I am learning so much!!

      That's a great question. In my experience you are right. Childhood traumas will need to be cleared first.

      @@PeterSchwartzNLP I do not smoke, it is for my godchild's father who thinks he is a locomotive. What technique would you suggest please.

    • @PeterSchwartzNLP
      @PeterSchwartzNLP 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@derickwilliams2195 Sure, depending on your experience level for a smoker I would recommend the following techniques. Mapping across as an aversion therapy could work but I wouldn't use it alone. So you would map across smoking into the sub modalities of something the person does not like. You could also use Self-concept which is the most powerful form of mapping across. Integrate being non-smoker into that person's identity. Other techniques include the swish pattern and hypnotherapy. It's really about understanding how the individual is maintaining their problem so that you can use the intervention that's best for them in that situation.

    i don't understand this. How can I create an image of my feelings? If something bothers me, I don't see them as presentation slides.

    • @PeterSchwartzNLP
      @PeterSchwartzNLP 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question! It's not that you see the feeling although that can happen for people as well. I'm referring to is how you remember an experience. So for example, if you have the experiene of liking chocolate cake. When you think about that you might feel desire or satisfaction... Compare that to the experience ofa food that you hate. Next, I want you to notice the qualities of how you remember that. Are you remembering what the cake looks like? If so that's an image/movie. Notice the location of it, the distance, the brightness etc... and compare that to the image/movie of the food that you hate.

    • @DamonCart

      In addition to what Peter said, you don't have emotional/evaluative feelings unless some sort of sensory input triggers you to feel it. Either you see, hear, or touch something externally or you remember something you saw, heard, or touched and that triggers the emotional/evaluative feeling. People think that they have feelings that pop up randomly. It only seems that way because the stimulus is unconscious. What Peter is saying is when you feel the feeling, become conscious of the stimulus, which for most people most often will be visual.
