Piper will be fine with Mom and dad. She likes the sheep and loves your mom. As you said, you will be home, so you will be with her.

Jess Piper works the sheep all the time. It’s really quite funny to see her jumping after the sheep and they jump back at her. She really has had some great barn days so I know that taking her and stick her in a room all day wouldn’t be the thing for you made the right move, she still your dog it’s just like grandma’s watching her until you get home. Families have to do what they have to do. That’s the best situation for the home.
And it's not like she doesn't like staying with grandma!🤣🧡💜🧡

I did the same. I moved from my parents' house to a small apartment downtown, but I left Ericka (my standard schnauzer) at my parents' place where they had a house and a large backyard. The funniest thing is that, after I moved out, my parents couldn't say my name because the dog would go all over the house looking for me. They would say "the kid" or "our daughter", etc....

As a mother my heart warms seeing your life move on from the cancer. I do feel a little bit sad for your mum. I know how it feels to have your children grow and start their own lives outside the family so to hear you say you wanted to FaceTime with your parents was super sweet. I knew when my son brought home a rescue dog 7 years ago that we would be keeping her when he left for college. “Dixie” is always here for him when he comes home and she’s happier with the wide open space to run and be. Piper will miss you of course, but she will be just fine out on the farm.

Actually, Piper and Lucy seem awfully happy with each other. She's made friends with the sheep and has fun in the barn with your mom.

Great to see you post about heading back to university. I hope switching back to in-person has gone well, and you're enjoying being a co-ed after all the challenges of the past year. I'm interested to hear what you're studying for the semester. And Piper is a Brock family doggo so I had no questions about any of it - she's funny to watch on your Mom's videos and especially her interactions with Lucy and the flock (maybe not so funny from your Mom's perspective sometimes - youngsters and their shenanigans, argh!... 😆). God bless you, Jess. Your journey has not been an easy one, yet you faced it with grace. Piper loves the farm and will be thrilled to see you when you visit. We moms know this…and know we make the best decisions for our “children.” You don’t owe anyone an explanation for why you got Piper/why you can’t take her (landlords are strict). Enjoy college life and know that you have a community filled with people who support you and your family (not to mention the fact that you have amazing parents…😉). Piper will be fine. My daughter got her first dog when she was 14 and their bond was instant and strong . When she went to college he stayed calmly with us in his familiar surroundings. He was always happy to see her come home, but was contented to be with us when she was gone.
Excited to watch this next new chapter. Congratulations girl. Time to go out and enjoy life.

Tater is a cat, but he was my son's cat in Kentucky, until Paul went into the Army then he stayed with me and the other 2 boy cats. The 3 cats and I moved to Oklahoma.
My youngest daughter came to Oklahoma for grad school and started talking about getting a cat....Tater had started sleeping on my pillow (which really made me crazy) so I suggested that Tater go live with her. It worked well because when she had to travel w/school and the Army, Tater came to stay with me and his two "brother cats" and was happy to see them! He went to Washington State, South Carolina, Kansas, and now in Texas and is basically in charge of the 18 mo old granddaughter, Avie.
He's been a real family cat for 13 years 😂❤

Tweaking my memory banks. The main thing when I moved from home to shared digs nearer college was stereo equipment and all my lps. We lived on French toast and sludge. Sludge (our name for it) was a ham bone set in a large stockpot (borrowed from Kit's sister Robin) and every possible bean, pea and millet thing from El Molino Mills joined the hambone with water to cover and was left on an eensy-teensy flame overnight. We baked our own bread to have with it, eating it for most of the week. By the second day, it had thickened to where sludge was a perfect descriptor. It was actually pretty good. There were no coffee machines in those days -- or computers or smartphones. Instant coffee soon gave way to stovetop percolators and they in turn to drip with paper cones and, for me finally, Bialetti stovetop espresso dealie-boos -- but that was some years later. Good luck studying! Piper will be fine. She can Skype with you and you with her.
