  • You asked for them, here they are! I tried to consolidate them into groups at least, but living with this disease for 10 years has definitely given me a LOT to talk about. Did I miss any of your pet peeves about living with #T1D? If so, tell me in the comments!
AGAIN, LET’S SPREAD THE LOVE IN THE COMMENTS AS WELL! IF YOU SEE A FELLOW T1Diabuddy WHO IS NEEDING SOME SUPPORT, COMMENT AND REMIND THEM THAT WE’RE ALL IN THIS THING TOGETHER!!!
Thank you all so much for the love and support on my last T1D video, if you have any suggestions for future T1D topics you’d like to see a video about, LEAVE THEM IN THE COMMENTS! Love you all.

Yes please make a video about a typical day on set as a diabetic or what it's been like being an actor with t1d! I was so excited when I realized you were a fellow diabetic. I remember looking up actors who had type 1 after being diagnosed and feeling bummed when I couldn't find many since I thought it might hold people back from having success in this industry. I've been getting more into film acting lately and would love to hear about what it's been like for you

Very inspiring to hear your story Mary. It reminds me of the important fact that no matter what your situation is in life, you should be thankful for the advantages you have, and the burdens you don’t have to deal with. And there is even a bright side to the burdens because they make you stronger.
Also you’re GREAT in Cobra Kai and I’m SO STOKED for season 3!!! 😋

My brother was also diagnosed with T1D back in 2012 a week after he turned 13. I know I can't ever completely understand what it's to be type 1 but the diagnosis is definitely something that effects the whole family. He's definitely had his ups and downs with diabetes, especially for the last two years. With all that being said, it's always nice to hear other people talk about their T1D journeys, even just as a sibling of a diabetic. It's comforting to know that there is someone who relates to the lifestyle that my brother lives. We're also huge fans of Cobra Kai in this household, and seeing you kick butt on screen and carrying on with your career while battling every day with this autoimmune disease is so inspirational and awesome. Thank you for sharing your story(ies), Mary!!!

As a healthcare worker, I applaud you for being so open & in control. I have migraines & that's not respected as a chronic pain condition. Ignorant people call it "just a headache". Yeah sure, it's a headache that uncontrolled can cause me to faint, lose hours of memory, have a stroke & have enormous anxiety. The first time it happened to me at work, they treated me as a stroke patient until my MRI was clear. Invisible illnesses like yours & mine need to be respected & those who try to give us unsolicited advice need to listen instead of being Google doctors.

My daughter's father is T1 and he had a chocolate bar with him and the teacher was like oh are you gonna share with the class and he was like no I need it. I'm low. And she was like well no food in class and he was like well I guess I'll just pass out or have a seizure then. He has seizures due to his diabetes and was known for the seizures at school. That was so great of you! Sharing these points is not only eye-opening for people who have not experienced (themselves or people in their circle) T1D, but also for doctors. Living with T1D makes you ..well sometimes a patient....but most of the time a partner with your doctor, so it is very enlightening of him/her to know your experiences and sometimes different perspectives about ''simple'' things in life for a better communication. Sometimes doctors alter or enhance (and should do that) their approach to patients by just listening how other people feel or experience things.

Hi Mary, big fan of the show! As a type one diabetic for 21 years, I've had to learn the hard way to take my short-acting insulin immediately after my meal. As you mentioned at the 3:00 mark, I don't always eat what I've prepared myself too. I know this has helped me tremendously. Low blood sugar in the middle of the night is simply the worst 4:15. I've had way too many seizures and waking up drenched in sweat. I literally keep a bottle of Hershey's chocolate syrup on my bed in case this happens. Please keep up the good work in bringing attention to the struggles that we face and I hope others can relate!

I was just watching your videos about the curly girl method and then this popped up! I’m a fellow T1D, so I thought that was funny. Completely agree with every you’ve said. I used to dislike actors/actresses when I was younger, since I've been helping out at sets and noticed that most of the work was not done by them, but the rest of the crew and still THEY were the ones getting all the attention. However, apart from having realised that this reception is not their fault, there are some of them that use their voice and platform to advocate for and spread information about very important topics and I applaude them for it. They restore my belief in the significance of their craft. This, Mary, is why I think you're TOTALLY AWESOME!!

I don't have diabetes, but I have lived my whole life having had two liver transplants, and for a few years, I had a Colostomy bag. The traveling thing you mentioned was always a nightmare, and I remember twice being questioned by the TSA for possible violent intentions thanks to the bag. Living with something attached to your body really changes your relationship with the world, never knowing when it will be an issue or knowing and bracing for it. I do empathize about the way things have changed at Disneyland; I miss those short lines... sad. I'm sure you ask why it happened to you, but I cannot think of someone who handles it with so much confidence, and you seem so optimistic. I really walked away with a smile! Stay awesome, and keep up the good fight!

11:25 I relate to this one so hard, when I got diagnosed the trainers and doctors explained to me that no foods we're off the table and anything is ok to have if I adjust for it and am responsible but constantly friends family and other people are like should you have that? or "thats bad for your health" it's like no? really? and its good for your health?

I'm 18 and I've had type 1 for 16 years... I deal with all of it every single day as well and it honestly just wears you down. This might sound weird but sometimes I go on "diet binges" and I just start eating like everything in my house carb-free to almost get a taste of what it would be like to not deal with it. I know it's so easy to get caught up in the struggles of daily living for us but honestly, every time I have a mental breakdown screaming in my head "I don't wanna put in a new cgm!!!" I try to just remind myself how lucky I am to have the technology I have. Were all in this together :)

Wow!!! I would have never imagined, It's a serious condition. This condition carries an illusion that when we see healthy people confess they suffer from this condition we find it hard to believe . I was shocked to hear that you're one of the millions suffering. All that said, you smart and you understand your condition thus you manage it. You speak of it truthfully shedding light on how hard it is to maintain your health out on the road but you don't sugar coat it. Thank you, for being honest and telling you story. I won't lie, it is unfortunate however you seem to understand the condition and it's inner workings but yet you don't see to be complaining. Just sharing your experiences good or bad. Thank you for that.

Your strength and how humble you are is inspiring. My late grandmother had diabetes. One of the toughest women I ever known". Bravo of your 10 years punching diabetes in the face. Bravoooooooo.

Like wow, Cobra Kai with all it's martial arts and training is already such a though job. But knowing you have diabetis type 1 and all that is emplies. Can't believe you can keep up with all that stuff. Remembering everything while constantly having to think about and check your body. Girl you are amazing! You can be so proud of yourself. I went through 25 years of medical abuse before ever being diagnosed with T1D.
      😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It is sad because I went through having tubes being drilled into my head because schizophrenic children said I deserve to die. This is sad but I was born with T1D and I was given nothing for it.
      😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
T1D was caused because of genetics and when it is not diagnosed a stroke can happen and a heart attack as well. Someone can loose their limbs. Everything was so so so messed up and furthermore schizophrenic children need to die.

I can understand how dealing with people's questions about something so personal can be so annoying but you have to remember there is a lot of ignorance out there and people think that if they don't suffer from something, then its probably some kinda disease or something. Don't let that deter you. After all, you said it in the video that you opened this door to educate people. So you have to be patient and deal with one person at a time.

Hi Mary I’m type 2 diabetic but I know exactly what your going through. I have had people have their opinion on diabetes saying that do you think you should eat that etc. That opinion made me feel so affected that I pretended I already ate so family members can leave me alone. I have been type 2 diabetic since 2010 I’ve had this condition for ten years, I was diagnosed at 11 years old and I’m 22 now and I still have my days where I am still asking that same question everyday....why me?
