Looks cool af with the offset, matching headstock. I dont know beans about bass, but the price seems great. I hope you make some bread gigging on it and enjoy it, Steve.
Tested two (I work at a music store). After setting up, it’s fun! the ones I tested were over 9 pounds though so kind of defeats the short scale feel but that bridge pickup is nice
The original Rascal bass was a great instrument. The bridge/tailpiece were taken from a Guild design. When Fender sold Guild, they no longer had access to that Guild design, and the original Rascal was removed from production. Original Rascals currently sell for a pretty steep markup on the used market.
You can tell a lot by the first riff someone plays. Mountain Song?!?!! YES PLEASE!! I'd jam with ya!! And, I really want one of these Rascals! I think I'll wait until there's a Christmas sale. Yes, Christmas is coming!!!
The body seems thin, could you measure the thickness ? Given the overall size of the instrument, they should have made it a 32 inch scale by moving the bridge further ‘outside’ the body. It would also improve the ergonomic for the right hand. I think I will go for the Squier Jaguar H and put a split coil with MM shaped size. Thank you for your video ✌️
@@guitarnutsanonymous7199 I doubt it. I have bought three Jazz basses over the years thinking I might get used to them. I didn't and sold them. I'm sticking with my trusty Precision.
I just don't know about having a short scale with a weird body shape. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of compact, portable ergonomic playing "mini" basses.
I’m with you on that. Wish they’d made it more compact like the Mustang, with bridge farther away from neck pocket...but doing that might’ve lost a couple of frets. My Mustang PJ has only 19 frets but it is nice and short overall. I’ve been hunting for a short scale bass with a few more frets. To preserve the Rascal’s 21 frets whilst moving bridge/reducing overall instrument length, the body would have to be reimagined to have a deeper cutaway...perhaps like the Serek Midwestern 2. (Serek has 21 but is more compact because of bridge location. And pricier.) Despite g.a.s-ing pretty hard on the Serek, buying this Squire will save me about 3k! 😅 Although it probably won’t fit in a Mono guitar gig bag like the Mustang does which IS easier for overhead bins when traveling.🤔 If there ends up being either an ergonomic issue or playability hindrance with the Paranormal Rascal’s length then I’ll just sell it. Apparently it’s a limited run on these Squires so maybe the value will hold. And maybe Fender will come up with something even better eventually.
Nice bass for someone who wants something a little different without going crazy about it. Fun review!

Great review, man. That bass looks and sounds awesome, hope I can get my hands on one soon. Thanks for taking the time to record and upload the video!
Glad to be of service! You won't be disappointed.
Nice throaty sound. Very different from the usual Precision and Jazz vibe. Short scale basses are always a lot of fun to rock out on.
Agreed! And it feels full-sized; whereas many short scales feel like toys (Squier Bronco, for instance).
Thanks for this honest review and for doing the strap test for neck dive. Such a cool looking bass in green. Enjoy!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching.
The body build, the bridge, the pickups, the headstock, scale length, and color. I like everything about that bass. Just WOW!🎶🎸❤😊👍
Agreed 100%. I definitely think Squier have a hit on their hands with this release.
Nice playing and cool bass! I’m definitely picking one up soon.
If you're into something a little exotic, find one of the CME EXCLUSIVE examples in Shell Pink. So cool. 😎
Nice to finally hear a comprehensive review of this bass. Great job! Also love the "Head Over Heels" jam :)
It's a great bass line! Thanks for noticing... and watching.

I don't have a suitable scale to weigh mine; but it feels to be right in-between my two BASS VIs in terms of weight. Totally acceptable for me.
Right. I think I would like it more if the bridge wasn't so far up on the body. The body looks big for a short scale in my opinion.
Appreciate the very candid and honest reaction to the bass. Subscribed.
Thanks for watching!
I don't care what anyone says, I think this is the best shout scale bass out there, I give it five thumbs up all day every day 👍👍👍👍👍.
I'm loving mine. I only play bass on a few songs in our set (when our regular bass player is on piano); but I've used it for several gigs already.
9:01 all my loving 👍 great review, man, thanx a lot.
Thank you for a really great review!
There’s also a pink version available for US

All true. I have actually played an original Rascal, and it was a great instrument... just not very "bass-y" in tone. But I'd certainly own one!
I've got an original Rascal. I dont agree with your comments about tone, no problem with me.
That sounds GREAT! Looks pretty gear too. 🤘
Great review and very nice playing/demo! I didn't even know this model existed so it was interesting to see it here on your channel.
Indeed, it's a brand-new model; just released.

I've always loved that song and especially that bass riff. And yes, buy yourself a Rascal. You WON'T be disappointed!
Congratulations, I love that color!
Gracias, Amigo!
Nicely done. Cool bass.
Thank you, good sir.
Great video and a great bass. Perfect for modding or right out of the box. I might have to add one to my collection.
Thank you. I'm really happy with it as-is; but it would be a great mod platform.
¡Gran reseña! Muchas gracias.
Thanks for doing some demoing with a pick & for showing the balance with a strap. A lot of people forget about that kinda stuff. Peace...
Happy to be of service. I intend to do a follow up video after I've used the bass for a gig as well.
... another dangerous video for my credit card 😂😂😂 it's AWESOME!! The sound is very FAT!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Great video man! Cheers from Italy!👍🏼
I want this! Its got those fat humbuckers like a Thunderbird/Embassy bass but shortscale. It would be great for blues and classic rock.
Between the 3-position pickup switch and the tone control, I get the impression that this bass would work for nearly any style of music.
Great review awesome bass.
What are those two gray cabins stacked to the right of the video?
Thanks👍🏾
Those are 80s Roland keyboard amps. 100 watts. Got the pair for $60 at a yard sale last year.
@@guitarnutsanonymous7199 you are a luck guy.
Think of me whenever you want to let them go.
Thanks for your replay and I’m going to subscribe, too👍🏾

It's definitely full thickness. Identical to my Squier BASS VIs.
If it had a P Bass size nut width I would be interested.
I'd suggest trying one out regardless. You might surprise yourself.

That's how you do a review. 👏🏼
Thank you, good sir. 😁
I’m trying hard not to buy this bass. This isn’t helping. Zero stars. 😂
My humble apologies! And definitely don't look up SHELL PINK RASCAL BASS on Google either...
Cool demo! Where you at in TN?
Picturesque Antioch! 😂
I want this and that 12 string hehe
Yeah that Jazzmaster XXII has caught my eye too.
I want all but the Nashville Strat.
Pretty much the same thing here. I’ll be glad when AMS finally gets a shipment. I can grab 2 and have them payed off in 3 months.
@@guitarnutsanonymous7199 yeah honestly I hate sunburst finishes
I think bass vi is my favourite fender body shape
I think the only Fender shape I like more was on the uber-rare BASS V. Almost too hideous for words, and I loved it! LOL
@@guitarnutsanonymous7199 oh I agree the bass vi was excellent design quirky and cool
Has anyone found a suitable gig bag for this cool bass?
I haven't tried any bags yet, but it fits perfectly in a Jazz Bass hardshell case. That's what I'm using for it...
@@guitarnutsanonymous7199 Thanks, Bro!

Check out the ESP BASS IV if you're interested in a full-scale version of the same bass (in shape, at least). Looks great in 34" scale.
👍
They're selling them cheap on Fender's website right now...
looks alot like ibanez talman
I never thought about it, but you're right.
@@guitarnutsanonymous7199 i have one tc420 with sparkle green. it's uncanny haha
Why would anyone want the black bass over that awesome green one?
The sound is a little strange unusual ... I don't like it.....I am convinced that you have better guitars and basses
