I like seeing Sun play, but she doesn't seem to be able to take aggressive swings on many of her opportunities. As an outside hitter, she should be pounding most of those sets hard somewhere around or over the block. But too often she ends up soft-rolling, tipping, or just making weak swings. It's as if she's getting herself too far forward and underneath the ball instead of keeping the ball in front of her and attacking it with more forward momentum. When she gets underneath the ball, she ends up jumping straight up as opposed to launching her body forward towards the net. This also causes her to have to look straight upwards at the ball as she swings, which in turn causes her to lose sight of the block and opposing court. I've both played and coached high-level volleyball. I've seen players make this mistake many times. It's hard to get anything on the spike, and it's damn hard to see where the block is. In terms of Lauenstein, I really like her technique. She's quick and nimble to the ball, and makes sure she uses her body's forward momentum to get extra power through the swing. She's a keeper.

Penn State setter, you need to review this game and make better choices, its not just about having "pretty hands," or making the more difficult set, see the court and know where the opposing teams players are located. Also. know your players mental strengths, so you know how to utilize them throughtout the match.

@@Bisscochitto oh please lmao. we obviously weren’t watching the same match. she stepped up her location and tempo specifically in this match, her threes were ridiculously good. melanie shaft master can’t set middle to save her life, only reason she’s in the assists category is because samedy gets a shit ton of kills. nicklin distribute the ball very well as they rely on their middles, outsides, right sides and basically everyone on the floor to do well.
