🔹 One of the best cities in Italy for summer holidays, Sirmione is a "must see" if you visit the stunning Lake Garda.
🔹Many people consider the town of Sirmione, a small village on the south-eastern shore of Lake Garda, to be the highlight and the most beautiful place to visit in the area.
🇮🇹 The city of Sirmione is centered around Castello Scaligero. You can't visit Sirmione without seeing this medieval castle - it's practically impossible because it's located right in the heart of the city.
🔹Before crossing the bridge to enter the old town, you will see the castle on the right side, surrounded by a small canal.
🏰 In my opinion, this castle is one of the things that make the city of Sirmione so special. It is a fortress from the Scaliger era and is one of the most restored and impressive castles in Italy.
🚘 How to get to Sirmione Lake Garda?
✈️One of the easiest ways to get to Sirmione is to fly into Milan. There are cheap flights to Milan from all over Europe as it is a major flight hub.
🚘If you're traveling by car (which we would recommend), it's about a 2-hour drive from Milan if you use toll roads that cost around €13. If you choose to avoid toll roads, an hour is added to the journey.
🚂If you want to go by public transport, you can take a train from Milan city center and go directly to Desenzano del Garda. It also takes about 2 hours by public transport and costs less than €10.
