Readers of Ellroy’s previous L.A. quartet crime novels will recognize the unsavory Dudley Smith and the somewhat cryptic Kay Lake, who here join future L.A. police chief William Parker and the force’s Japanese crime-scene specialist, Hideo Ashida, to investigate the deaths of four members of the Watanabe family just days before Pearl Harbor is attacked. Are the two events related?

What happens when Saint Peter meets you at the Pearly Gates of Heaven and asks "Where is my copy of Peridia? If you purchased two thousand copies of Peridia, you should have at least brought me one"

It was the damn Snowflakes who destroyed James Gould Cozzens and who would have destroyed Faulkner if they had had the chance!

I know you don't give a shit about what anyone says about you or your writing.
You use words instead, as many as possible to tell a story that hsould have been told in 100 words. You use words instead of telling your stories. I'm reminded of "A River Runs Through It." Go back and write this with half as many words.
